Todd A. Bagwell, beloved husband of Leah Bell Bagwell, passed away on his birthday, Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by his family and many friends.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Shelby Rainey Bagwell and the late Robert Bagwell.

Todd grew up in Berea and never really moved far from the area. Todd graduated from Berea High School in 1980. He worked part-time for the Napa Auto Parts (Washington Avenue Store) straight out of high school and then felt the pull to join his Dad for many years at Greenville Aluminum Products and then, with his brother Travis acquired ownership of the business in 2011. Todd’s mother and father raised him to be a man of deep faith. Todd’s faith journey from Baptist to Presbyterian was the direct result of meeting the love of his life, Leah.

Todd and Leah met in 1992 through mutual friends and have never been a part since that day. A longtime member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Todd always had a smile and kind word for his church family. Todd enjoyed the simple things in life and was purely a “salt of the earth” type of guy. He loved his family tremendously including those that he was born into and the ones that he gathered along the journey of his life. Todd’s joy was helping under the radar to provide help to those who were in need. The children that grew up around him always found him willing to sponsor or simply make their needs his needs and pave the way for them to have what they needed.

Happiness would find Todd under the hood of a race car at Greenville Pickens Speedway or back in the many race shops that he had been a part of for over 40 years. Todd has helped so many teams on all levels racing from the weekly series to the NASCAR Dash Series, All-Pro, and trucks. He has achieved many awards from all series including a prestigious Championship Series in 1999 at Greenville Pickens Speedway.

Todd had so many great moments in his life and simply chose to make life better for those around him. He loved the mountains, he loved the ocean, and he loved the back porch at his home. He loved his Lady Gamecocks, grabbing a ticket when he could. He loved SC Baseball and has enjoyed many games with his brother Travis. He loved watching and going to Braves games because it was a touchstone of the life that he shared with Leah. Todd loved and loved big, he didn’t know how else to live his life.

In addition to his mother and his wife, Todd is survived by his sister, Lori Sarratt; parents-in-law, Ray and Betty Jo Bell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Scott and Aileene Redeker, Byron and Beth Bell, and Patrick Bell; nieces and nephews, Katherine Sarratt, Brett and Blake Bagwell, and Connor and Jacob Redeker.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church. Family and friends who are unable to attend the service can view the Live Stream by clicking on the “Watch Livestream” button located on the main obituary page.

Tyler Daniel Bagwell

M, b. 24 February 1990, d. 20 April 2023
Tyler Daniel Bagwell was born on 24 February 1990. He was the son of Christopher Alan Bagwell and Angela Marie Goolsby. Tyler Daniel Bagwell married Natasha McDonaldson after 2009. Tyler Daniel Bagwell died on 20 April 2023 in Sentara RMH Medical Center, Harrisonburg, Virginia, at age 33

We are saddened and grief stricken to announce the unexpected passing of Tyler Daniel “Bags” Bagwell on April 20, 2023. Tyler was surrounded by his family, who all loved him dearly at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Tyler was born February 24, 1990, and is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Natasha McDonaldson Bagwell. He was the greatest dad ever to his four cherished children, Bentley, Raylynn, Gabriel and Trenton. He considered his role as a “father” to be the greatest gift he could give. Also surviving are a sister, Heather Bagwell Cash (Derrick), and their children, Bryson, Josie and Addison; a brother, C.J. Stroop (Samantha), and their children, Aubree, Isaiah, Avery and Amaya; a brother, Jesse Stroop; his parents, Chris Bagwell and Angela Goolsby Stroop and Wes Stroop; grandparents, Sharon and Chick Rodgers, whom Tyler shared their home and love with and considered them his “Mom and Dad” and Darlene and Tom Goolsby; step-grandmother, Janet Davis; mother and father-in-law, Sharon McDonaldson and Ricky Simmons; grandmother in-law, Lavon “Nanny” McDonaldson, as well as many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tyler was a giver, always helping others, and he continued to give by being an organ donor. He was larger than life itself, always happy, had an infectious smile that would light up a room, had a big heart and especially considered others before himself. Children swarmed around him to play as he was a fun-loving “big kid” himself.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Linville-Edom Ruritan Hall, 3752 Linville Edom Road in Linville with Derrick Cash officiating. The immediate family will also commemorate his life in a private ceremony at their church, Mt. Olive Brethren Church, in Pineville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a special fund for the children through Dupont Credit Union, under the name of Sharon W. Rodgers and attention to “Bagwell Children;" Sharon will make certain that all contributions go directly towards "Bagwell Children".
