     Ernest Nelson Goff was born on 29 July 1938 in Harrisville, Ritchie County, West Virginia. He was the son of Harold J. Goff and Nellie M. Snodgrass. Ernest Nelson Goff married Kathleen Ellen Lanham in 1962 at Ritchie County, West Virginia. Ernest Nelson Goff died on 5 March 2024 in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio, at age 85

Ernest Nelson Goff, 85, of Pennsboro, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Elison Assisted Living and Memory Care of Marietta, OH.

He was born July 29, 1938 in Harrisville, WV a son of the late Harold and Nellie Snodgrass Goff. Nelson attended Harrisville High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He had previously attended the First Baptist Church in St. Marys, WV, and enjoyed traveling and auto racing.

He is survived by his daughters, Marlinda Wyers (Harlan) of Pennsboro, WV, and Sherry Morris (Rick) of Parkersburg, WV. Two grandsons, Michael Wyers of Virginia and William Morris of Parkersburg, WV; two sisters, Eva Johnson (Richard) of Virginia and Linda Mashburn (John) of Texas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Hayward, Forest (Bud), and Wendell, and sisters Betty Tanner, Helen Lambert, and Jean Crooks.


He was buried on 9 March 2024 at Harrisville IOOF Cemetery, Harrisville, Ritchie County, West Virginia.

     Kathleen Ellen Lanham married Ernest Nelson Goff, son of Harold J. Goff and Nellie M. Snodgrass, in 1962 at Ritchie County, West Virginia.

     Marlinda Goff is the daughter of Ernest Nelson Goff and Kathleen Ellen Lanham. Marlinda Goff married Harlan Wyers after 1981.
