Gerald Wayne Bagwell passed away on July 24, 2023, in Liberty, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community service. He was 81 years old.

Gerald was born on October 14, 1941, in Beaumont, Texas, to Leonard M. Bagwell and Estelle McFarling Bagwell. Gerald has been married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Nan Bagwell for 61 years. Gerald spent his life making a positive impact on those around him. At the tender age of 8 he accepted Christ at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta where his Christian faith was deeply rooted. He remained an active member of the Church community and was currently a member of North Main Baptist Church in Liberty.

Gerald’s pursuit of education led him to Lee College, where he showcased his basketball skills, and later, he transferred to Texas A & M University, earning the esteemed title of a "Fighting Texas Aggie." His commitment to hard work and knowledge continued throughout his career, where he worked in various positions, including Seaberg Rice Company, Nome Rice Dryer, and Helena Agriculture Sales. Notably, he had a significant impact on the Guiyanese people, teaching them how to operate a rice dryer in Guayana, South America. Moreover, he was an entrepreneur, owning his own business, Riceland Chemical and Seed.

Dedicated to his community, Gerald served as a member of the Liberty Sheriff's Department before retiring at Lyondell Chemical. Even after retirement, he remained active with his own business, Gerald's Turf Consulting, leaving an enduring mark in his field.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Gerald actively participated in his community and the Hull-Daisetta School Board, showcasing his commitment to the growth and betterment of the youth. He also held roles in First Baptist Church Daisetta, serving as a youth council member and later as a Trustee, always eager to contribute to the Churches welfare. Outside of his professional and community achievements, Gerald cherished his personal life and passions. He found solace and joy in hunting, fishing, and carpentry, immersing himself in the beauty of nature and the satisfaction of craftsmanship. Additionally, he took immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren excel in sports, providing them with unwavering support and encouragement.

Gerald Wayne Bagwell was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leonard and Estelle Bagwell, and his siblings James and Ruthie Bagwell, Betty and Gene McClusky, and Mary and Tommy Tulley.

He leaves behind a devoted family, including his beloved wife, Nan Minter Bagwell, and their children: Suzanne Davis (Rob), Kelli Chavanne (Tim), Jennifer Brawner (John), and David Bagwell. Gerald’s memory will forever be cherished by his grandchildren: Jace Bagwell (Arinn), Kayleigh Davis, McKinley Davis, Allie Davis, Luke Chavanne, Zachary Chavanne, Logan Chavanne, Brooke Brawner, Victoria Brawner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As he journeys to his final resting place, Gerald will be accompanied by pallbearers: Jace Bagwell, Luke Chavanne, Logan Chavanne, Zachary Chavanne, John Brawner, and Jeff Ward, a testament to the deep impact he had on those closest to him.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Gerald Wayne Bagwell will be held at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty on Monday, July 31, 2023. The visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m., followed by a service at 4:00 p.m. His final resting place will be Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.

The loss of Gerald leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his memory will be forever cherished as his impact lives on in the lives he touched. All services will be conducted with the care and direction of Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Betty J. McClusky, 81, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017. She was born on June 10, 1935, in Sour Lake, to Estelle McFarling Bagwell and Leonard Mitchell Bagwell.



Survivors include her husband, Eugene McClusky; son, Kevin McClusky and his wife, Gayle, of Silsbee; and daughters, Gay Tatom and her husband, Jerry, of Western Grove, Arkansas; and Denise Strother and her husband, Harland, Kountze; grandchildren, Heather Nelson of Edgemont Arkansas; Judd and Cindy Tatom of Bellefonte, Arkansas; Matt McClusky and his wife, Lynnsey, and Andrew McClusky and his wife, Brittany, all of Silsbee; Josh Strother and his wife, Allison, of Haslet; and Joscelyn Adams and her husband, Bryan, of Newton; great-granddaughters, Corinne Strother, Leila Grace Strother, and Kenedy McClusky; and brother, Gerald Bagwell and his wife, Nan, of Raywood. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Bagwell; and sister, Mary Tulley.



A gathering of Mrs. McClusky’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Pineridge Cemetery, Sour Lake.

Well known and long-time Manassa resident, Bertral "Bertie" Vidella DePriest Bagwell, 83, passed away January 14, 2024 at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Alamosa, Colorado.
Bertie's life began in Fox Creek, Colorado on October 27, 1940 to Berton Ray and Minnie Vidella Broyles DePriest. She met her sweetheart, Stancil Bagwell, Sr., and was united in marriage and sealed for time and all eternity on October 20, 1983 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bertie worked in the lunchroom at Manassa Elementary for 17 years. Later, she joined Stancil working on the ranch. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings in the church, including Basketball Coach for Young Women's, and most recently Librarian for the Manassa Second Ward. She enjoyed her callings immensely.
One of her favorite activities was spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren.
Bertie is survived by her husband Stancil Bagwell, Sr. of Manassa, CO; her children Scott (Pam) Bagwell of Colorado City, CO, and Carl (Annie) Bagwell of Manassa, CO. They were blessed with six grandchildren: Gerald, Hailey, Sarah, Stephanie, Brock, and Brooke; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Alfred "Roscoe" (Elsie) DePriest, and Norma Jean (Kevin) McQuiller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bertie is preceded in death by her parents Berton and Minnie DePriest, her siblings Vernon, June, and Katherine, and her children Bobbie and Stancil, Jr.
A Visitation will be held at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Manassa on Sunday, January 21st, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, January 22nd from 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the Primary Room at the Church. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Manassa Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow services in the Manassa-Romeo Cemetery.

Passed away on May 16, 2020. She was born on April 15, 1958 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Stancil and Bertral Bagwell. As a young woman, she was very involved in the 4-H and the Manassa Saddle Club. Bobbie was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was the Church Librarian for many years, she was also an active member of the Celebration Committee. She worked for 24 years at Friday Health and she truly loved her job and treasured her co-workers. Bobbie loved animals, especially dogs and horses, fishing in the mountains, spending time with her parents and her friends and family, she loved to read and creating beautiful stained glass artwork. She enjoyed decorating for Halloween. She will always be remembered by the family around Christmas time when they partake of the family tradition of hamburgers and eggnog.

Bobbie is survived by her parents, Stancil and Bertral Bagwell of Manassa as well as her brothers Scott Bagwell and Carl Bagwell both of Manassa. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Bobbie was especially fond of her nephew Gerald Bagwell also of Manassa.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Lester and Faye Bagwell and maternal grandparents Berton and Vidella DePriest, and brother Stancil Bagwell, Jr.



She was buried at New Manassa Cemetery, Manassa, Conejos County, Colorado.
