James Engram

     James Engram was born in 1744. He married an unknown person . He immigrated (sailed) in 1764 from Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland, to Georgia via Barbados.1,2 Source:Paper by Captain Robert C. Engram to Majorie Bagwell Titled "Engram" Quoting from the paper: In 1764, he joined the colonistat Kingsale Ireland and came to Barbadoes thence Savannah, that being the nearest port to Ireland - and finally settled in Georgia. James Engram settled in what is now Houston County, Georgia and bought large tracts of land. There is no record as to whom James Engram married since Houston County was not organized into a county until the year 1821. However, he reared a family, and the only record of a child is a son - Edward Engram, who from a family bible of his own gives Februrary 15th, 1784, as the date of his birth. He lived in Houston County, Georgia.

     Edward Engram was born on 15 February 1784. He was the son of James Engram. Immigrated from France to America in the latter part of the 18th century. He came ot Pennsylvannia and then to Georgia.1 Edward Engram married Elizabeth Kanady in 1804 at Lenoir, North Carolina. Edward Engram died on 17 November 1843 in Houston County, Georgia, at age 59.1
