TUPELO – Donna Jean Smith died Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center. She lost her battle to cancer. She was 71 years old. She was the daughter of the late Travis Bagwell and Maxine Bagwell of New Albany, MS. Donna graduated from MUW and was retired from SAFE Inc. Donna was an avid lover of animals and books. She enjoyed watching the wildlife from her back deck while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Donna was the proud mom of three sons, Darby Smith (Jodie), Ben Smith (Tiffany), and the late Sam Smith. Donna adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them to the moon and back: Alex (Lauren), Taylor (Jonathan), AJ, Aubri, Aiden, Gracie, Faith, and Remi. Donna was also a furr momma to her furr babies. Donna also dearly loved her best friend since childhood, Pam Foster. Donna is also survived by two siblings, Joy Fisher and Bradley Bagwell.

     Dorothy Carrie Bagwell was born on 30 September 1925 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Wiley H. Bagwell and Pernecia R. Ozella. As of after 1950,her married name was Dawson. Dorothy Carrie Bagwell married David Ellsworth Dawson after 1950. Dorothy Carrie Bagwell died on 7 January 1971 in Prince George's County, Maryland, at age 45. She was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.

     David Ellsworth Dawson was born on 19 August 1930 in Ohio. He married Dorothy Carrie Bagwell, daughter of Wiley H. Bagwell and Pernecia R. Ozella, after 1950. David Ellsworth Dawson died on 15 July 2010 in East Brady, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, at age 79. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
