Re-enlisted as Private on 1863 at Tulahoma, Tenn. in the 32nd. Ala. Regt. Co. I and continued until Battle of Missionary Ridge and wounded. Re-enlisted as Private at Moulton, Ala. in the 42nd Regt., Whatley Co. and continued until spring or close of the war - paroled in Walker Co., Ala.
Washington Augustus Pendley Sr married Winnie Catherine Bagwell, daughter of Wiley Bagwell and Mary Polly York, circa 1865 at Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Washington Augustus Pendley Sr died on 3 February 1921 in Fayette County, Alabama, at age 78. He was buried at Gus and Winnie Pendley Burial Ground, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.

York was living with her daughter Luella (Bagwell) Dobbs and her husband (Samuel Dobbs) at Holly Springs, Fayette County, Alabama.3 She died in 1914.1 She was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama.1
