Services for Sarah McCulloch Bagwell, 87, were Sept. 19, 2009, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with the Rev. George Buell officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery.

She retired from Irwin Manufacturing as an assistant plant manager with 34 years of service. She was a member of Ackerman United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bagwell died Sept. 15, 2009, at her residence in Ackerman.

Survivors include two sons, James Al McCulloch of Ackerman and Larry McCulloch of Roanoke, Va; two grandsons, two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al McCulloch in 1960 and her husband of 29 years, Loyd Bagwell, in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carla McCulloch.

Susan Grovia Brender Bagwell, 74, of Brunswick and Suches, Ga., died Dec. 6, 2014.

Susan Bagwell was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Greensboro, Ga., to the late Ernst Victor Brender and Grovia Ann Lunsford Brender. She graduated from Young Harris College, Georgia Southern College and Emory University. For many years, she taught third grade at Duluth Grammar School and was a librarian at Duluth High School.

Beginning in the 1970s, she was a freelance writer and authored numerous articles for magazines including Birdwatcher’s Digest, Georgia Backroads, and Vegetarian Times. She was an avid birdwatcher and genealogist, and served as a Girl Scout leader for Troop 1227 in Lawrenceville, Ga.

Susan Bagwell was a member of the Coastal Georgia Genealogical Society, Friends of the Brunswick-Glynn County Library, and was a board member with the now defunct organization Old Town Brunswick Preservation
Association.
She was buried at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Union County, Georgia.

Charles Malcolm Bagwell, 87, of Brunswick and Suches, Georgia, died Sept. 18, 2021.
He was born May 25, 1934, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to the late John Daniel Bagwell and Julia Ellen Morcock. Charles served in the U.S. Army, 101st Division in the 1950s, and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1959.
He married Susan Brender-Bagwell, now deceased, in 1964, and for many years he worked for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Atlanta. Charles finished his career at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and retired from construction and engineering in 1988.
Charles Bagwell was a pen and ink artist, a gardener, and a genealogist. He was a member of the Coastal Georgia Genealogical Society and the Friends of the Brunswick-Glynn County Library.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Bagwell-Harvey (husband, Connor Schofield) of Savannah; a son, Tyler E. Bagwell (wife, Julie) of Brunswick; and three grandchildren, Isabel Harvey, Oliver Bagwell, and Gavin Bagwell. He is also survived by a brother, C. Blue Bagwell; and sister, Mary Ballard, both of Lawrenceville, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in Suches, Georgia, at a later date.

Dorothy Lillian “Dottee” Bagwell-O’Brian, 85, of Zeigler passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at her home.

In April of 2022, Dottee was diagnosed with both Parkinsons and lymphoma. She was a breast cancer survivor, having had a mastectomy in 2008. She began treatments at Siteman Hospital in St. Louis and in July 2023 and was in remission. Unfortunately, she was unable to regain her strength.

Dottee was born on April 16, 1938, in Hammond, Indiana to Willis and Grace (DeLaney) Brumm. She was first united in marriage to Arvel Dean Bagwell on October 22, 1960. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1993. She later married Benjamin O’Brian on May 22, 2005, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2008.

Dottee had held several different occupations in her life. She was the co-owner of DeLap Real Estate in West Frankfort, then went to college with her daughter and they both graduated with a degree in travel and tourism. Dottee then began a career with Presley Tours and was able to guide tours all over the world.

After retiring Dottee and her daughter traveled together and visited numerous countries. Some of her favorites were Israel, Egypt and Budapest Hungary. When not traveling she enjoyed spending time with her son and her dogs.

Dottee was raised Lutheran faith during her childhood years. She was baptized in the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in Zeigler with her husband, Dean, where she enjoyed working in the nursery. Dottee later became Catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Herrin.

Dottee was a Zeigler Council woman for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served as past Worthy Grand Matron. She was also a member of the Zeigler Women’s Eagles Auxiliary and Pinochle Club.

Dottee is survived by her two children, David Bagwell of Zeigler, and Pam Bagwell of Zeigler. She is also survived by her dogs, Sophie and Sadie, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dottee is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; two sisters, Virgene Hall and Carol Brumm.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Zeigler with Fr. Mark Reyling and Pastor Larry Shacklee officiating. Interment will follow in Zeigler City Cemetery.


She was buried on 29 August 2023 at Zeigler City Cemetery, Zeigler, Indiana.
