Billy Ray Bagwell was born January 26, 1926, at Frederick, Oklahoma to Raymond Madison and Mattie Zoe (Woodall) Bagwell. He attended Sunrise Consolidated #6 School, southeast of Frederick, later transferring to Frederick High School, graduating with the Class of 1944. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Billy Ray farmed and ranched all of his life in the Tillman County area and was a self-employed trucker. On March 11, 1987, he and Barbara Ann Owen were united in marriage at Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder for many years. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Frederick Riding Club. As a teenager he excelled in all types of sports, he loved football, basketball and baseball. This passion continued as an adult as a true “O.U. Fan.”

He is survived by his wife: Barbara Bagwell of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby and Carol Lynne Bagwell of Frederick, Oklahoma and Damon and Ann Owen of Vernon, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law: Cherri and David Randall of Jonestown, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and spouses: Danna and Curt Akin of Davidson, Oklahoma, Bryan Bagwell of Tipton, Oklahoma, Michael and Keri Goins of Wichita Falls, Texas, Keith and Jamie Goins of Vernon, Texas, Carly Randall and Kimberly Randall both of Jonestown, Pennsylvania; four great-grandchildren: Lauren Akin, Brandon, Haylie and Ethan Goins; and two nieces: Tana Dugan of Grapevine, Texas and Kim Hodges of Woodward, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Danny Ray Bagwell; and one brother: Benny Carl Bagwell.
