Pauline, Apr 7,-Robert J. Bagwell, 79, prominent citizen of this community, died Saturday morning at his home following a lingering illness. He was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church, and was recognized as a successful business man in this community.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Philadelphia Baptist Church, the Rev. H. H. Gregory officiating assisted by the Rev. C. B. Price. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Keith Smith, J. J. Lawton, L. M. Lanford, T. E. Finch, Hickman Morgan and W. J. White.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earnest Gentry. Tom Willard, Ed Whisonant, H. T. Littlejohn, Jennings, L. Thompson, Ryan Moore, Claude Pruitt, Arthur Grose, T. H. Lee, Dr. D. H. Smith, Dr. S. T. D. Lancaster, John Foster, J. A. Foster and members of the Men’s Bible Class of the Philadelphia Baptist church.

Flower bearers will be Marie, Ernestine and Maude Lee and Gertrude Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by the following sons: W. J., H. T., R. G., and J. A. Bagwell, and two daughters, Hattie and Anna Bagwell: two sisters, Mrs. Rose Anna Lowe and Mrs. Lucy Steadman, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was buried at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pauline, South Carolina.

Joseph Leonard Bagwell, Sr., 91, of Landrum passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010. He was son of the late Edward R. and Susan Brady Bagwell and husband of Mary Carruth Bagwell.

He was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and church treasurer and a retired businessman. He was a US Navy veteran having served in World War II and was the former Mayor of Landrum.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Leonard Bagwell and wife Dianne of Columbia; two daughters, Anne Bagwell of Columbia and Gracie Bagwell of Landrum; a brother, Clyde E. Bagwell, Sr. of Taylors; a sister, Hester S. Bagwell of Columbia; a grandson, Brent Bagwell and wife Amy; and a great-grandson, Charlie Bagwell.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Hester Susan Bagwell, daughter of the late Edward Roland and Susan (Brady) Bagwell passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Columbia, SC.

Graveside services were held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Landrum, South Carolina. Rev. John Brady conducted the service.

Miss Bagwell was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia (SC) for over fifty years. She was a graduate of Landrum High School and Robinson Business College. She retired from USDA, Soil Conversation Service after 34 years.

She is survived by a brother, Clyde E. Bagwell, Sr. of Taylors, S.C., a sister-in-law Mary Bagwell of Landrum, S.C. Miss Bagwell is also survived by five nieces - Barbara (Mario) Raun, Anne Bagwell, Martha (Gene) Stallard, Patricia Bagwell, and Grace Bagwell and one niece-in-law Marianne (Edward) Bagwell and three nephews - Larry (Linda) Bagwell, Leonard (Dianne) Bagwell and Clyde (Jo-Jo) Bagwell, Jr.

She was predeceased by a sister, Abbie Bagwell, and two brothers, Boyce and Joe Bagwell, and one nephew, Edward Bagwell.

Born May 29, 1922, in Landrum, SC, he was a son of the late Edward Roland Bagwell and Minnie Susan Brady Bagwell and husband of the late Corrine Moss Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell was a 1949 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and retired from the city of Statesville, NC, as Director of Electric Utilities. He was a former member of Broad Street UMC, Statesville, NC, and the Statesville Civitan Club, and presently a member of Aldersgate UMC, Greenville, SC. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia G. Bagwell of Taylors, SC; a son, Clyde E. Bagwell, Jr. and wife, Jo-Mary McKee Bagwell of Inman, SC; granddaughters, Elizabeth Corrine Bagwell of Spartanburg, SC and Abbie Elliott Bagwell of Inman, SC. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Leonard Bagwell and Boyce Roland Bagwell; and sisters, Elizabeth Aileen "Abbie" Bagwell and Hester S. Bagwell.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, at Sunset Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Talmage A. Stanley, family member.

Surviving are a sister, Hester Susan Bagwell of Columbia; brothers, Joseph Leonard Bagwell, Sr. of Landrum, Clyde Elliott Bagwell, Sr. of Statesville, NC.

Services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 15, 1984 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, Columbia, SC, by the Revs. John Setchfield and Phil Steyne.

Burial followed at 3:30 PM in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Landrum, SC.
