Houlka – Graveside services for Van Bynum, 88, of Houlka, who died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, were held yesterday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Blackwell officiating.

Southern Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bynum was born in Okolona, Ark., and was retired from the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Bynum; a stepson, Dennis Cothran, two brothers, Jesse Bynum and Pete Bynum; and one sister, Syble Prater.

He is survived by two step grandsons, Brian Cothran of Cincinnati and David Cothran of Texas; one step great granddaughter, Elizabeth Cothran and a number of nieces and nephews.1 He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Houlka, Chickasaw County, Mississippi.1

Graveside services with Masonic Rites were held Saturday, Mar 25 at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Henning Andrews officiated.

The son of the late John vincent Holladay and the late Eula Carolline Boyd, he was a reitred electrician, a veteran and was a member of Herking Hill Methodist Church in Ripley, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Lovis Bagwell Holladay who passed away Mar 24 1992.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Lovelace and Debbie Bryan, both of Ripley, TN; four sons, Larry Holladay of Houlka, Johnny Holladay of Stuttgart, AR and Jamie Holladay and Jeremy Holladay, both of Ripley, TN; one brother, Jack Holladay of Pontotoc; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services for William Henry "Bill" Bagwell, 95, of Ackerman were Jan. 14, 2010, at Coleman Funeral Home.

Mr. Bagwell was a retired carpenter and plumber. He was a veteran, having served in the Seabees in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, and was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He died Jan. 10, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.

Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Hazel McCarthur Bagwell of Ackerman; a son, Dr. Billy McCarthur Bagwell of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bagwell McIntire.

Mrs. Mavis Bagwell Holman, 89, of Columbus formerly of Choctaw County, died of cancer Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood.

Mrs. Holman, a homemaker, was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Choctaw County. She was the widow of the late Joe Tom Holman and the daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Bagwell. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norman Jo Pruden; and two sons, John David Holman and Billy Jean Holman, also one grandson, David Wayne Pruden.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Oliver Chapel with the Rev. John L. Walker officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery in Ackernan.

Mrs. Holman is survived by two daughters, Peggy Wallace of Jackson, Sue Haley of McCarley; one son, Thomas G. Holman of Columbus; one sister, Minerva Williams of Ackerman; one brother. Bill Bagwell of Ackerman; 11 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Randy Holman, Jeff Holman, Joey Holman, Bruce Holman, Maury Mims, and Jimmy Steadman.

Honorary pallbearers were Mike Howell and Opie Wynne.
