Marvin Howard Bagwell

M, b. 18 October 1921, d. 2 April 2017
     Marvin Howard Bagwell was born on 18 October 1921 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was the son of Wilton Horace Bagwell and Helen Watkins. He was a Staff Sergaent in the US Army during World War II.

I beleive he was with the 451st Bombardment Group. He was awarded the Air Medal in Feb 21, 1944, the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster on May 20, 2944, the Air Medal with 2 Oak leaf Cluster on May 20, 1944 also, the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Cluster on June 03, 2944, the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Cluster on June 27, 2944.

The 451st BG and their B-24's moved to the Mediterranean theater, November 1943-January 1944. They were based in Italy and assigned to the 15th Air Force. Flew strategic missions to oil refineries, aircraft factories, airfields, marshalling yards and other industrial targets. They were commended three times being awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation (DUC) for missions to Regensburg 22 February 1944, Ploesti 5 April 1944 and Vienna 23 August 1944. They would be based in Italy through VE Day.1 Marvin Howard Bagwell married Henrietta Anderson after 1946. Marvin Howard Bagwell died on 2 April 2017 in Chandler, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 95.1 He was buried at Piney Mountain Methodist Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe County, North Carolina.1

Henrietta Anderson

     Henrietta Anderson was born on 11 May 1927.1 As of after 1946,her married name was Bagwell. She married Marvin Howard Bagwell, son of Wilton Horace Bagwell and Helen Watkins, after 1946. Henrietta Anderson died on 25 October 2010 at age 83
Henrietta Anderson Bagwell, 83, of Candler, died on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Brian Center, in Weaverville.

A Buncombe Co. native, Mrs. Bagwell was a daughter of the late Henry Johnson and Mary Etta Israel Anderson. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Carole Bagwell, and her sister, Nancy Foster.

During WWII, Mrs. Bagwell worked for the U.S. Air Force as a file clerk. She later also worked for Sluder-Adams Insurance Co., in Asheville. She was a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Bagwell is survived by husband, Marvin Howard Bagwell, Sr; daughter, Sharon Diane Bagwell, of Candler; son, Marvin Howard Bagwell, Jr., and his wife, Cinthia Milner, of Leicester; sister, Arida Young, of Candler; brother, Fred Anderson, of Candler; two grandsons, Joffrey and Micah; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Bagwell will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.1
She was buried at Piney Mountain Methodist Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe County, North Carolina.1

Marvin Adron Bagwell died on 25 January 2014 in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia, at age 74 Son of the late Robert Henry Bagwell and Alice Minor Bagwell, he was a retired truck driver of Southeastern Freight Company. He was a member of Whistleville Christian Church. He was survived by his wife, Barbara Bagwell; sons, Rocky Bagwell, James Bagwell, Keith Bagwell, Weymon Bagwell and Marvin Bagwell; daughters, Stacy Worley, Denice Lowery, Tina Eddison and Pam Timmons; and an exttended family of grandchildren and other relatives. His graveside funeral was held on January 30, 2014, with The Rev. Russell Page officiating.1 He was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery and Columbarium, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.1
