     Wendell "Wendy" Lee Bagwell was born on 16 May 1925 in Chamblee, DeKalb County, Georgia.^1,2,3

Gospel Music Singer, Comedian. Known for his famous "Rattle Snake" Story. He was born in Chamblee, Georgia, in 1925, and grew up in Cumming which he left at age 17 to join the Marine Corps during World War II. He fought for his country and received the Bronze Star and a Letter of Commendation for Bravery. After his return he founded his own furniture store business, which is still in operation today in Mableton, Georgia. In 1954, he joined together with Geraldine (Jerri) Morrison and Georgia Jones to form "The Sunliters", a local gospel group which would be joined in 1960 by Jan Buckner, Wendy's niece-in-law. They became one of the premier Southern gospel groups in the nation, winning a Top 5 Grammy Award in 1995, Gold Record for Million Seller, Special Award from the Gospel Music Association, and other awards.

He was the son of Rufus McCager Bagwell and Arzie Emmerline Vaughan.¹ Wendell "Wendy" Lee Bagwell raised Ronald Harold "Ronnie" Buckner starting in circa 1944. (Ronald was his nephew).⁴ Wendell "Wendy" Lee Bagwell married Melba Louise Hogue on 18 April 1946 at Dallas, Georgia.⁴ Wendell "Wendy" Lee, his wife Melba and his nephew, Ronald Buckner, opened Bagwell Sales Furniture in Georgia. The same business, now named Wendy Bagwell Furniture, is still family owned and operated in Mableton, Georgia.⁵ He died on 13 June 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, at age 71 of a brain aneurysm.^1,2,3 He was buried on 15 June 1996 at Riverview (River View) Memorial Park, Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia.² Wendell "Wendy" Lee was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1997 as Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters. Inducted in 1998 Georgia Music Hall and in GMA's Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001.^3,4,6

     Mercer Gunter was born on 9 February 1898 in Georgia. He married Artie Delphia Bagwell, daughter of William Blassingame Bagwell and Amanda Isabell Brashears, after 1916. Mercer Gunter died on 9 July 1964 at age 66.

     Willie Ruth Phillips was born on 4 June 1896 in Hall County, Georgia, (Tombstone says June1893.)^1,2 As of 10 August 1913,her married name was Bagwell. She married Walter Riley Bagwell, son of Micajah Bagwell and Sarah Louvenia King, on 10 August 1913 at Hall County, Georgia. Willie Ruth Phillips died on 2 March 1989 in Duluth, Gwinnett County, Georgia, at age 92.¹ She was buried at Oakland Community Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.¹

     Robert Herman Bagwell was also known as Herman Bagwell.¹ He was born on 5 September 1916 in Houston, Hall County, Georgia.^1,2 He was the son of Walter Riley Bagwell and Willie Ruth Phillips.^1,2 Robert Herman Bagwell married Ida Bell Campbell on 25 November 1936 at Gwinnett County, Georgia.² Robert Herman Bagwell died on 1 March 1989 in Loganville, Walton County, Georgia, at age 72.² He was buried at Eternal Hills Cemetery, Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.²

     Ida Bell Campbell was born on 24 May 1919 in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.¹ As of 25 November 1936,her married name was Bagwell. She married Robert Herman Bagwell, son of Walter Riley Bagwell and Willie Ruth Phillips, on 25 November 1936 at Gwinnett County, Georgia.² Ida Bell Campbell died on 1 July 2012 at age 93

Ida Campbell Bagwell Conner 93 of Lawrenceville died 7-1-201. Born 5-24-1919 in Lawrenceville to Alfred Perry & Maybell Hayes Campbell, she was preceded in death by parents, husband, Robert Herman Bagwell, 2nd husband, Prince Kermit Conner, son, Travis Wayne Bagwell, and all nine of her siblings. She worked as a cafeteria worker at West Walton School in Youth and Loganville Elementary School. Loved by all who knew her she leaves a lasting legacy in her family. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Survived by daughters, Runette & Jerry Braswell of Helen, Dorothy "Dot" & Jim Napier, Patricia "Pat" & Randall Pugh of Jefferson, Victoria "Vickie" Norris of Florida, Regina & Derrick Boyce of Loganville; sons, Kenneth & Liz Bagwell, Hollis Bagwell of Lawrenceville, and Terry Bagwell of Snellville; 24 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service Thursday in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with interment at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Snellville.

Loudelia Faggans married Emory Lafayette Bagwell, son of William Blassingame Bagwell and Amanda Isabell Brashears, on 23 November 1893 at Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. Loudelia Faggans died on 27 July 1974 in Barrown County, Georgia, at age 98.¹ She was buried at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.¹

     George W. Faggans died in Big Creek, Forsyth County, Georgia. He was born in March 1825. He married Lucy M. (?) circa 1855 at Big Creek, Forsyth County, Georgia.

     Albert Dempsey "Red" Bagwell was born on 20 September 1914 in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia.¹ He was the son of Emory Lafayette Bagwell and Loudelia Faggans.¹ Albert Dempsey "Red" Bagwell married Ruby Mae Pugh on 3 November 1935 at Hall County, Georgia.² Albert Dempsey "Red" Bagwell died on 2 November 1982 in Suwanee, Gwinnett County, Georgia, at age 68 Obit: Services for A. D. (Red) Bagwell, 68, 3247 Burnette Road, Suwanee, were to be held at 2 pm Thursday at Old Field Baptist Church with the Revs. Preston Moore, Tolbert Moore, and Virgil Bailey officiating. Mr. Bagwell, who died at his residence after a sudden illness, was retired from the National Biscuit Co. in Atlanta. He was a member of Old Field Bapt. Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Pugh Bagwell; daughters, Janis Johnson, Joyce Doster, Elaine Flanigan, and Bonita Evans; sons, Gene Bagwell and Benny Bagwell; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Hulsey and Vera Adams.¹ He was buried at Peachtree Road Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.¹

     Luther Claude Bagwell was born on 17 November 1900 in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia.¹ He was the son of Emory Lafayette Bagwell and Loudelia Faggans. Luther Claude Bagwell married Verdie Glover after 1923. Luther Claude Bagwell died on 28 November 1980 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, at age 80.¹ He was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, East Point, Fulton County, Georgia.¹

     Lucy Bagwell was born on 24 August 1894 in Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Emory Lafayette Bagwell and Loudelia Faggans. As of circa 1911,her married name was HULSEY. Lucy Bagwell married Willie N. Hulsey, son of William Hulsey and Nancy Rosanna Souther, circa 1911 at Georgia. As of circa 1911,her married name was Hulsey. Lucy Bagwell died on 14 August 1985 in Hall County, Georgia, at age 90.

     Willie N. Hulsey was born circa 1891 in Georgia. He was the son of William Hulsey and Nancy Rosanna Souther. Willie N. Hulsey married Lucy Bagwell, daughter of Emory Lafayette Bagwell and Loudelia Faggans, circa 1911 at Georgia. Willie N. Hulsey died after 1940 in Georgia.

     William Hulsey was born on 21 April 1862 in Union County, Georgia. He married Nancy Rosanna Souther on 21 September 1882 at Union County, Georgia. William Hulsey died on 28 October 1946 in Hall County, Georgia, at age 84.

     Nancy Rosanna Souther was born on 18 June 1865 in Union County, Georgia. She married William Hulsey on 21 September 1882 at Union County, Georgia. As of 21 September 1882,her married name was Hulsey. Nancy Rosanna Souther died on 12 October 1938 in Hall County, Georgia, at age 73.

     Melba Louise Hogue was born on 10 July 1930 in Oakdale, Georgia.² Her married name was Bagwell.      General Cleve Holbrook married Ollie Estelle Bagwell, daughter of William Blassingame Bagwell and Amanda Isabell Brashears, on 10 March 1918 at Forsyth County, Georgia.

     Henry King married Pearl Mayell Bagwell, daughter of William Blassingame Bagwell and Amanda Isabell Brashears, on 20 January 1906 at Forsyth County, Georgia.

     Ralph King is the son of Henry King and Pearl Mayell Bagwell.

     Ethel Hannah Bagwell was born on 20 August 1909 in Forsyth County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Furman Ardie Bagwell and Ruby D. Brannon. Ethel Hannah Bagwell was born in 1910 in Georgia. As of 13 November 1927,her married name was James. She married Everett James on 13 November 1927 at Big Creek, Forsyth County, Georgia. Ethel Hannah Bagwell died on 3 August 2000 in DeKalb County, Georgia, at age 90.

     Ruth Bennett was also known as Winnie Ruth Bennett.¹ She was born on 11 August 1901.¹ Her married name was Bagwell. She married Eber Earlston Bagwell, son of William Blassingame Bagwell and Amanda Isabell Brashears.

     Marion Elon Bagwell was born on 30 July 1921. She was the daughter of Eber Earlston Bagwell and Ruth Bennett. She went to Russell High School, East Point, Georgia in 1937. As of circa 1938,her married name was Parker. Marion Elon Bagwell married Martin Parker circa 1938. Marion Elon Bagwell died on 26 March 2006 at age 84.

     Jack McFarland Bagwell was born on 28 August 1924 in Georgia.¹ He was the son of Eber Earlston Bagwell and Ruth Bennett. He served in the US Navy from from 2 October 1942 to 19 November 1946 during World War II. He was a survivor of the U.S.S. St Louis that sank in the Philippines and also served on the U.S.S. Hoggatt Bay (CVE-75). Jack McFarland Bagwell married Gladys Juanita Bell in 1945. Jack McFarland Bagwell married Angela Williams after 1955.² Jack McFarland Bagwell died on 6 November 1976 in Clayton County, Georgia, at age 52.¹ He was buried on 9 November 1976 at Old Roswell Cemetery, Roswell, Fulton County, Georgia.¹
