Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, August 2, 2013, from Chalkhead Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy West officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Friday in the church from 9:30 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Strickland was born October 10, 1929 in Ozark, Alabama. Doris was a devout member of Chalkhead Baptist Church. Everyone who knew Doris knew that she was a loving Christian woman that had a great love for young people and she dearly loved her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Strickland, Sr; her parents, William and Mamie Bagwell; four brothers Ralph Bagwell, Robert Bagwell, Ray Bagwell, and Roy Bagwell; three sisters, Ruby Whitman, Norma Pippin, and Lois Harrer. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Marion Strickland of Panama City, Florida, David and Rebecca Strickland of Ozark. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. The family extends a special thank you to her caregivers Mary and Joan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chalkhead Baptist Church, 495 County Road 35, Ozark, Alabama 36360; or the Alzheimer's Resource Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.1 She was buried at Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery, Ewell, Dale County, Alabama.1

Marjorie Helen Bagwell of Empire, Alabama passed away on Thursday the 5th of December in Blairsville, Georgia. She was 97 years of age. Marjorie along with her husband John founded several corporations including Spring Valley Foods and John Bagwell Farms & Hatchery, Inc. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband John Daniel Bagwell, daughter Barbara June Baggett and brothers Horace Wilkinson and Elmer Wilkinson. She is survived by daughter Betty Carol Barron, sister Annie Wilkinson Thomas; Granddaughters: Melissa Hope Barron Reedy (Daniel), Belinda June Baggett Donovan (Rob), Rebecca Leigh Baggett Haspel (Moshe); grandsons: William L. Baggett and John Ranzey Barron; Great Grandchildren: Mary Caitlin Baggett, Anna Walker Baggett, Callan Elizabeth Donovan, Hannah Claire Donovan, Maren Grace Donovan, Summer Barron Reedy, Hattie Rose Reedy, Lila Anne Haspel, Sierra Ranzey Barron, Matthew Romandus Barron, Katharine June Haspel. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from ten o'clock in the morning afternoon until twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 16th of December, at Ridout's Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. Graveside services will commence at two thirty in the afternoon, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Corner, Alabama. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.

     Barbara June Bagwell was born on 5 June 1939.1 She was the daughter of John Daniel Bagwell Jr. and Helen Marjorie Wilkerson. As of after 1955,her married name was Barbara June Baggett. Barbara June Bagwell married William Lawley Baggett after 1955. Barbara June Bagwell died on 22 July 2005 at age 66 Mrs. Baggett was the daughter of Mrs. Marjorie Helen Bagwell and the late Mr. John Daniel Bagwell, both of Corner. Mrs. Baggett was the 1957 valedictorian of Corner High School and a 1961 graduate of Auburn University, where she majored in home economics and was admitted into the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society. She spent her career working for two family businesses, Spring Valley Farms and Highland House, Inc. In 1960, Mrs. Baggett married her high school sweetheart, the late Mr. William Lawley Baggett Sr., of Corner. They had three children: William Lawley Baggett, Jr. of Atlanta; Belinda Baggett Donovan of Portland, ME; and Rebecca Leigh Baggett of Atlanta. Mrs. Baggett was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter as well as a successful businesswoman. She was also active in the Birmingham Ballet and the Birmingham Museum of Art. Mrs. Baggett was always eager to learn new skills, and took great interest in activities ranging from financial investing to cooking and the decorative arts. She was a loyal supporter of Auburn University, and enjoyed going to Auburn football games for as long as she was physically able. She truly loved life and all of the adventures it offered. In addition to her husband and father, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emma Grace Donovan. She leaves behind her mother; her three children and their spouses; her sister, Carol Barron Cross of Stewart, FL; and six granddaughters: Mary Caitlin Baggett, Anna Walker Baggett, Callan Elizabeth Donovan, Hannah Claire Donovan, Maren Grace Donovan, and Katharine June Haspel.1 She was buried at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Warrior, Jefferson County, Alabama; Mrs. Baggett was the daughter of Mrs. Marjorie Helen Bagwell and the late Mr. John Daniel Bagwell, both of Corner.
