Curtis G. H. was member of Company F, 1st Florida Cavalry for the Union.3 He married Martha Ann Stevens, daughter of Wiley Stevens and Mary (?), in 1873.3 In 29 June 1891, Curtis G. H. bought 159.95 acres from the United States government. (The land was between what is now Ozark, Alabama and Dothan, Alabama). The legal descriptions are:
