     Miley Gertrude Frye was born on 15 August 1908 in Pleasant Plains, Independence County, Arkansas.¹ As of after 1967,her married name was Bagwill. She married Robert Mathew Bagwill, son of Curtis Edgar Bagwell and Eulalia Minter, after 1967. Miley Gertrude Frye died on 5 April 2003 in Belleville, Illinois, at age 94.¹ She was buried on 7 April 2003 at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.¹

Robert Mathew Bagwill Jr. married Mildred Solt before 1953. Robert Mathew Bagwill Jr. died on 10 October 2022 in Belleville, St. Clair County, Illinois, at age 99.¹ He was buried at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, St. Clair County, Illinois.¹

     Dennis Robert Bagwill was born on 19 October 1953 in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois.¹ He was the son of Robert Mathew Bagwill Jr. and Mildred Solt. Dennis Robert Bagwill died on 20 April 1993 in Belleville, Illinois, at age 39.¹ He was buried on 22 April 1993 at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Belleville, Illinois.¹

     Curtis Bagwill is the son of Robert Mathew Bagwill Jr. and Mildred Solt. Curtis Bagwill married Sandra (?) after 1971.

Gloria Ann Bagwell Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Gloria Ann Bagwell, 85, devoted wife of the late John "Jack" Bagwell, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Born in Norfolk, VA, Ann was the daughter of the late Doyle and Lilly B. Youngblood Mitchell. After Doyle retired from the Coast Guard, the family moved to Duluth, Georgia to be closer to family. The Mitchell family and the Bagwell family histories intertwine starting back with Ann and Jack's grandparents.

Ann and Jack went through the Duluth school system together. Their love story began in the elementary school auditorium, where Jack captivated Ann's heart with his tap-dancing skills and then high school sweethearts. Married on April 7, 1963, they celebrated 60 years together.

Ann enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, playing cards and the piano, and vacationing anywhere sunny so she could tan.

Ann spent over 20 years in the Georgia school system, inspiring young minds and leaving an indelible mark on countless students. Ann's impact went beyond the classroom, tutoring during the summers while also taking care of all of her children's friends that would come in and out of the open door at their houses in Albany, Georgia.

Ann's faith was an integral part of her life. For twenty years, she was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Albany, GA, sharing in the love and fellowship of the congregation. Upon relocating to Greenville, SC, they found a home at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Greenville and in recent years, Ann sought solace, friendships, and great support at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Taylors.

Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, John "Jack" Bagwell; her beloved parents, Doyle & Lilly B. Mitchell, and the sister she missed every day, Betty Jean Mitchell Stephenson.

Her loving memory will be cherished by her devoted children, Candy and Rhodes Bagwell; sister-in-law, Carolyn Allen; nieces, Laura J. Stephenson (Mike Head), Lynn (Richard) Thigpen, and Terri (Doug) Westbrook; and, nephew, Brian Allen (Heather - Caymen & Chloe). She adored Joseph & Bre Thigpen (Eli & Lila); Kelly Thigpen; Lucy (Kenny) Blizzard (Kenny & Misty - Aiden & Kennedy); Megan & Josh Cushman (Mady, Colton & Landon); Jamie & Darold Bishop (Hunter & Mason); and, Charlie & Destiny Martin (Kas, Bella & Alee).

Our mother will be terribly missed by those she left behind but we all share in the comfort that she passed peacefully in her sleep only to wake up in the glory of God and in the arms of her loving family that she has missed so much.

A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Taylors, SC. Burial will be private in Duluth, Georgia at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Greenville Humane Society in honor of her affection for her grand dogs, all the cats she has cared for over the years, but most of all for Sassy who was with her until the end.

     Rebecca Ann Jones married Grover Cleveland Bagwell III, son of Grover Cleveland Bagwell Jr. and Elaine Patsy Campbell, in 1995 at Greenville, South Carolina.

     Cheryl Dianne Day married Grover Cleveland Bagwell Jr., son of Grover Cleveland Bagwell and Maggie Algreta Culbertson, in 2000 at Greenwood, South Carolina.

     Samuel Floyd Bagwell was born on 27 October 1933 in Parksley, Accomack County, Virginia. He was the son of Ernest Reed Bagwell and Tabitha White. He served in the US Army. Samuel Floyd Bagwell died on 12 January 2002 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina, at age 68. He was buried at Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County, North Carolina.

     Jennie Veteline Thompson was born in September 1891 in Canada. As of before 1911,her married name was Goff. She married Rex Amon Goff, son of Amon Camble Goff and Nancy Ida Parker, before 1911. Jennie Veteline Thompson died in April 1966 in Duval County, Florida, at age 74.

     Rex Malone Goff was born on 20 March 1910 in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama. He was the son of Rex Amon Goff and Jennie Veteline Thompson. Rex Malone Goff married Mary Louise Nickell in 1941 at Broward County, Florida. He served in the US Navy from 22 December 1942 to 23 October 1945. Rex Malone Goff died on 4 November 1985 in Duval County, Florida, at age 75. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

     Mary Louise Nickell married Rex Malone Goff, son of Rex Amon Goff and Jennie Veteline Thompson, in 1941 at Broward County, Florida.

     Victor Goff is the son of Rex Malone Goff and Mary Louise Nickell.
