     Kathryn Cannon was born on 26 May 1888 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.² She married John J. Flaherty on 1 June 1918 at St. Leo's Church, Ashley, Pennsylvania. As of 8 June 1918,her married name was Flaherty. He married Annie Gladys Poole, daughter of John Wesley Poole and Mary Leonard Bagwell, on 1 September 1921 at Wake County, North Carolina.¹ Charles Thomas Wheeler died on 23 September 1962 in Rockingham, Richmond County, North Carolina, at age 65.      Lottie Morris was born circa 1849 in Virginia. She married John Green Bagwell, son of Green Berry Bagwell and Ann C. King, on 13 October 1865.¹ As of 13 October 1865,her married name was Bagwell. Lottie Morris and John Green Bagwell were divorced in April 1874 at Raleigh, North Carolina; The three children from this marriage (Florence, Frederick and Cary) were left with their grandfather (Green Berry Bagwell) after John Green Bagwell and John Green Bagwell were seperated.¹

     Frederick Rastus Bagwell was born in September 1869 in Durham, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Green Bagwell and Lottie Morris.¹ Frederick Rastus Bagwell married Ida Hall in January 1893.¹ Frederick Rastus Bagwell died on 11 November 1920 in Ocean City, New Jersey, at age 51.¹ He was buried on 15 November 1920 at Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

     Florence Beatrice Bagwell was born on 4 November 1866 in North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Green Bagwell and Lottie Morris.¹ Florence Beatrice Bagwell married David R. Perkins on 29 November 1889. Florence Beatrice Bagwell died on 28 April 1945 in Maryland at age 78. She was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Maryland.

     Cary Bagwell was also known as Carrie Bagwell. She was born circa 1870.¹ She was the daughter of John Green Bagwell and Lottie Morris.¹ As of 13 December 1886,her married name was Eatman. Cary Bagwell married Edwin Eatman on 13 December 1886 at Wayne County, North Carolina. Cary Bagwell married Joel Amos on 11 March 1899.¹ As of 11 March 1899,her married name was Amos.

     Florence Vinita Barfield was also known as Florence Venetia Barfield. She was born on 13 October 1855 in Wayne County, North Carolina. She married John Green Bagwell, son of Green Berry Bagwell and Ann C. King, on 28 May 1874 at Wayne County, North Carolina.¹ As of after 1875,her married name was Bagwell. Florence Vinita Barfield died on 18 July 1927 in New Hanover, North Carolina, at age 71.¹ She was buried on 20 July 1927 at Goldsboro, North Carolina.

     Eunice Bagwell was the daughter of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield.¹ Eunice died as an infant.¹

     Walter Green Bagwell was born on 14 July 1882. He was the son of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield.¹ Walter Green Bagwell died in August 1927 at age 45.

     Camille Bagwell was born on 31 August 1879.¹ She was the daughter of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield.¹ Camille Bagwell died on 30 April 1959 in Wilmington, North Carolina, at age 79.

     Drury Vilona Bagwell was born on 31 August 1879 in Goldsboro, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield.¹ As of 23 January 1894,her married name was Tucker. Drury Vilona Bagwell married Robert Down Tucker on 23 January 1894 at Rock Springs Hotel, Wilmington, North Carolina. Drury Vilona Bagwell died on 11 August 1957 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, at age 77.

     Oscar Leroy Bagwell was born on 14 July 1882 in North Carolina.¹ He was the son of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield.¹ He served in the US Army Medical Branch. Oscar Leroy Bagwell married Hattie Cook on 23 April 1907 at New Hanover, North Carolina.¹ Oscar Leroy Bagwell was buried on 6 August 1927 at Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.² He died on 6 August 1927 in California at age 45.^1,2

     Hattie Cook was born circa 1889. As of 23 April 1907,her married name was Bagwell. She married Oscar Leroy Bagwell, son of John Green Bagwell and Florence Vinita Barfield, on 23 April 1907 at New Hanover, North Carolina.¹ Hattie Cook died in July 1928.¹

     Florence Bagwell is the daughter of Oscar Leroy Bagwell and Hattie Cook.¹

     Leroy Floyd Bagwell was born on 6 September 1908.¹ He was the son of Oscar Leroy Bagwell and Hattie Cook.¹ Leroy Floyd Bagwell married Thelma Dickerson Hales on 29 July 1929.¹ Leroy Floyd Bagwell died on 3 March 1952 at age 43.¹ He was buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina.

     Thelma Dickerson Hales was born on 25 October 1905 in Wilson, North Carolina.¹ She married Leroy Floyd Bagwell, son of Oscar Leroy Bagwell and Hattie Cook, on 29 July 1929.¹ As of 29 July 1929,her married name was Bagwell. Thelma Dickerson Hales died on 3 September 2000 at age 94. She was buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina.

     Florence Adeli Bagwell is the daughter of Leroy Floyd Bagwell and Thelma Dickerson Hales.¹

     Dorothy Christine Bagwell was born on 27 May 1933 in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Leroy Floyd Bagwell and Thelma Dickerson Hales.¹ As of 29 July 1951,her married name was Tyson. Dorothy Christine Bagwell married Norman Edward Tyson on 29 July 1951. Dorothy Christine Bagwell died on 11 September 2021 in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina, at age 88


Dorothy Bagwell Tyson, 88, of Wilmington, NC, died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Wilmington on May 27, 1933, the daughter of the late LeRoy W. Bagwell and Thelma Hales Bagwell. Also remembered is her husband, Norman Tyson, and a sister, Florence Costin, both of who preceded her in death.

Surviving is her sister, Linda Bagwell; three sons, Herman (Fran), Jerry (Lisa), Timothy (Theresa); ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Lady.

Dorothy was a graduate of New Hanover High School, class of '51, and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Norman Edward Tyson later that year on July 29, 1951.

She worked for Victor Goodman, accountant, from January 1962 to December 1968. Mr. Goodman passed away December 1968 and left her the business which she has worked for the past fifty-three years. During that time, she became a member of The North Carolina Society of Accountants and the National Society of Accountants. In November of 1972 Dorothy joined Winter Park Baptist Church and they became her church family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Winter Park Baptist Church.


She was buried at Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina.

     Linda Camille Bagwell is the daughter of Leroy Floyd Bagwell and Thelma Dickerson Hales.¹

     Ida Hall was born on 10 October 1872 in Annapolis, Maryland.¹ She married Frederick Rastus Bagwell, son of John Green Bagwell and Lottie Morris, in January 1893.¹ As of January 1893,her married name was Bagwell. Ida Hall died on 4 January 1922 in Annapolis, Maryland, at age 49.¹

     Richard Hall Bagwell was born on 5 August 1895 in Baltimore, Maryland.¹ He was the son of Frederick Rastus Bagwell and Ida Hall.¹ Richard Hall Bagwell died on 28 April 1975 in Maryland at age 79. He was buried on 30 April 1975 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland.

     Joel Amos was born on 11 March 1899.¹ He married Cary Bagwell, daughter of John Green Bagwell and Lottie Morris, on 11 March 1899.¹

     Joseph Allen married Lillie Norton.¹

     Lillie Norton married Joseph Allen.¹

     William Watson Cary Jr. was born on 11 August 1917 in Atlanta, Georgia.¹ He married Agnes Sue Allen, daughter of Joseph Allen and Lillie Norton, on 16 October 1937 at Heflin, Cleburne County, Alabama.¹ William Watson Cary Jr. died on 5 March 1974 in Atlanta, Georgia, at age 56.¹ He was buried at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.¹

     (?) Morris married Carolyn Sue Cary, daughter of William Watson Cary Jr. and Agnes Sue Allen.¹

     (?) Cloys married Elizabeth Allen Cary, daughter of William Watson Cary Jr. and Agnes Sue Allen.¹

     William Watson Cary III was born on 9 September 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia.¹ He was the son of William Watson Cary Jr. and Agnes Sue Allen.¹ William Watson Cary III died on 19 October 1964 in Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia, at age 19 in a motorcycle accident.¹
