     Reba Louise Bagwell was born on 23 April 1927 in Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of Hubert Clinton Bagwell and Louise Rhodes. Reba Louise Bagwell married Harley Dyron Rakestraw before 1953. Mr. James Lomer Bagwell, 83, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on January 27, 2018 in Birmingham.

Mr. Bagwell was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa B. Arnold (Jackie); son, Jerry Bagwell; grandchildren, Jeremiah Arnold, Diane Arnold (J.J.) and Jacob Bagwell; great-grandchildren, Ella Lodrigue, Zeke Lodrigue and Dale Lodrigue. Survivors also include his extended family, Earline Graham; Gary Graham (Aida), Regina Graham, Lynn (Einar) Norton, and Rhonda Felzko (Scott); grandchildren Nathaniel Colon, Ashleigh Graham, Elisha Graham, Kendra Ford (Cole), Jeremy Swindeall, Zachary Norton, Jena Norton, Kirsten Norton, Solveig Norton,Zachary Felsko (Courtney), Addie Grace Felzko, and Thomas Felzko; great-grandchildren Graham Ford, Liam Norton and Magnus Norton.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, with the Rev. Lowell Douglas officiating. Interment will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the funeral home.

He served as a TEC 5 in the US Army during World War II. Ernest Bagwell married Marian Amelia Peterson after 1946. Ernest Bagwell died on 4 May 2002 in Polk County, Georgia, at age 78.

     Gene Paul Bagwell was born on 12 April 1926 in Cartersville, Illinois. He was the son of Ernest C. Bagwell and Clara Novabell Black. Gene Paul Bagwell married Fern E. Swanson on 27 November 1947 at Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Gene Paul Bagwell married Kleita (?) after 1970. Gene Paul Bagwell and Fern E. Swanson were divorced in 1974. CARTERVILLE -- Gene Bagwell, 88, of Moulton, Alabama, formerly of Carterville, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at home with his family by his side.

He was born April 12, 1926, in Carterville, to Ernest and Clara Bagwell.

Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and witnessed the atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll. He continued his call to serve in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. 1st Class during the Korean War.

He graduated from William Hood Dunwoody College and Minneapolis State College.

After graduation, Gene began working as a tool and dye specialist. He was employed by Rockwell Automation in Minneapolis and worked on the Apollo Rocket Guidance Systems in the 1960s. Never one to shy away from work, Gene worked at various places throughout his lifetime including-Norge in Herrin, Inland Steel in Sesser, and HHS Machinery in Moulton-which he owned and operated. In his later years, he worked for Tac Enterprises in Alabama rebuilding and restoring tractors from all over the world and lastly, Walmart where he did custodial work.

He is survived by his wife, Klieta Bagwell of Moulton, Alabama; children and their spouses, Jeff Bagwell (Kathy) of Litchfield, Lynn Bittle (Randy) of Carterville, Gene Bagwell (Lacie) of Carterville, Jennifer Culp of Decatur, Alabama, Travis Bagwell of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Lindsay Campbell, Callie Bagwell, Ashley Bagwell, Nathan Bittle, Max Bittle, Wes Bittle, Devin Bagwell, Sarah Gittlein, Andrew Gittlein, Brady Bagwell, Alexis Culp, and Stone Culp; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Huff of Bluford; sister-in-law, Marian Bagwell of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.


Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Clara Bagwell; brother, Ernie Bagwell; and brother-in-law, Dale Huff.

In addition to belonging to the Masonic Lodge and Shriner’s Temple, Gene was also a member of American Legion, lifetime member of the VFW, and an Eagle Scout Master.

Services for Gene will be on April 12, in Moulton, Alabama, on what would have been his 89th birthday.

     Senior Master Sergeant Herbert Troy Bagwell was born on 12 February 1923 in Alabama. He was the son of James Mearn Bagwell and Claudia L. Campbell. He served in the US Army Aircorps / US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Senior Master Sergeant Herbert Troy Bagwell married Ruby Lee in 1942. Senior Master Sergeant Herbert Troy Bagwell died on 23 November 1997 at age 74. He was buried at Prattville Memorial Gardens, Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama.

     Margaret F. Bagwell is the daughter of James Mearn Bagwell and Claudia L. Campbell.

     Herbert Troy Bagwell Jr. is the son of Senior Master Sergeant Herbert Troy Bagwell and Ruby Lee. Herbert Troy Bagwell Jr. married Maggie (?) after 1962.

     Edress Aline Hurst was born on 12 November 1924 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.² Edress Aline Hurst was also known as Edress Aline Meads Her mother reverted to her maiden name, Mead, and changed her daugther's last name as well when her mother move to New Orleans to to escape from husband.¹ As of 5 November 1945,her married name was Bagwell. She married George Leon Bagwell, son of Robert Lee Bagwell and Ada Wester, on 5 November 1945 at Jefferson County, Alabama. Edress Aline Hurst died on 1 November 2013 in Ragland, St. Clair County, Alabama, at age 88 Funeral services for Edress Aline Bagwell, 88, of Ragland were Monday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Lowell Douglas and Brother Doug Ford officiating. Burial is at Ragland United Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Bagwell died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. Mrs. Bagwell was a resident of Ragland. She formerly lived in Birmingham for 25 years. She retired from Aladdin cleaners after 21 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Elizabeth Durrett Bagwell married Oliver McClain Jones in August 1965 at Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina. Elizabeth Durrett Bagwell died on 5 February 1995 at age 95. She was buried at Springwood Cemetery, Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina.

     Oliver McClain Jones married Elizabeth Durrett Bagwell, daughter of Silas Gaines Bagwell and Mary Durrett "Minnie" Chiles, in August 1965 at Greenville, Greenville County, South Carolina. Oliver McClain Jones died in 1977.

     Charles William Gossett was born on 4 January 1898 in Kentucky.^1,2 He was the son of Maxwell Tupper Gossett and Josephine Bagwell.¹ Charlie Gossett was a mechanic and was a brickmason like Maxwell (his father). He also served in WWI. He moved to Michigan and changed his name. His name was legally changed to Charles William Bagwell Sr.¹ Charles William Gossett married Marie Elizabeth Arnold on 5 April 1918 at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. I believe he may have served two years in an Iowa prison for interstate car theft (Dyer Act) in Men's Reformatory, Anamosa, Jones County, Iowa, from 28 April 1922 and paroled in January 30, 1923. Charles William Gossett and Marie Elizabeth Arnold lived between 1930 and 1940 in Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan. Charles William Gossett died on 11 December 1950 at age 52.^1,2 He was buried at Grand Lawn Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.²
