He coached many athletic teams that his stepsons played on and helped coach the 2002 and 2003 wrestling teams at Wade Hampton High School. Mr. Bagwell was an avid fisherman, carrying his fishing rod with him everywhere he went, in case he went by a body of water that might have fish in it and had a few minutes where he could wet a hook. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church of Christ in Cumming, Ga.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his beloved wife, Lisa Shaner Bagwell, of the home; a son, Shane Bagwell of Dallas, Texas; two stepsons, Allen Ferkovich of Pensacola, Fla., and A.J. Ferkovich of Greenville; a stepdaughter, Nicole Ferkovich, of the home; a brother, Bill Bagwell of Anderson; three sisters, Cheri Free and husband, Brad, Frieda Hughes of Anderson and Kim Barton and husband, David, of Easley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude and Reb Bagwell and Charles and Florence Bothfeld.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at 4 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church of Christ in Cumming, Ga., with Pastor Kurt Picker officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.
