Kinser on 3 February 1950 at Heltonville, Indiana. As of 22 May 1954,her married name was Harden. Velma Lavonia Southern married Charles Harden on 22 May 1954 at Indiana. As of after 1955,her married name was Bagwell. Velma Lavonia Southern married Robert Lee Bagwell, son of Earl Eithel Turpen and Helen Marie Bagwell, after 1955. Velma L. Southern Bagwell, 92, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital. She was born on March 27, 1930 in Monroe County; the daughter of Posey and Lena (Prince) Southern.

Velma owned and operated multiple business and was a published poet. Velma was a former member of Crossroad Church in Bedford. Those who knew and loved her, Velma’s greatest legacy was perhaps her wisdom, perseverance, and faith. For Velma, it was being “witness” for God.

Velma is survived by her grandchildren, Eric DeFord (Kathy) and Ira “Jozy” DeFord; great-grandchildren, Ross DeFord, Dylan DeFord, and Alec DeFord; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Kinser; second husband, Robert Bagwell; children, Alan Kinser, Fraun Martin, and Andrea Flynn; grandson, Aaron Martin; great-great-grandson, Gunnar Alan DeFord. Velma was also preceded in death by sisters, Helen Kinser, Gladys Fleetwood, Altha Kelley, Thelma Stone; and brothers, Hershell Southern, Donald Southern, Ancil Southern and Glen Southern.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 South Old State Road 37, Bloomington.      Andrea Josette Bagwell was born on 25 September 1950 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Harold J. Kinser and Velma Lavonia Southern. As of 2 August 1975,her married name was Flynn. Andrea Josette Bagwell married Timothy Ray Flynn on 2 August 1975. Andrea Josette Bagwell died on 9 June 2005 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, at age 54. She was buried at Pinhook Cemetery, Pinhook, Lawrence County, Indiana.

     Timothy Ray Flynn married Andrea Josette Bagwell, daughter of Harold J. Kinser and Velma Lavonia Southern, on 2 August 1975.

     Harold J. Kinser was born on 21 February 1925 in Monroe County, Indiana. He married Velma Lavonia Southern on 3 February 1950 at Heltonville, Indiana. Harold J. Kinser died on 5 June 2004 in White River Lodge, Bedford, Indiana, at age 79


Bedford-Harold Pap Kinser, 79 of 2226 Matlock Lane Smithville, Indiana died at 12:02 AM on Saturday, June 5th, 2004 at the White River Lodge in Bedford.

Born February 21, 1925 in Monroe County he was the son of Edward and Clothea (Kinser) Kinser. He was a member of the International Laborers Union Local 741, and he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II, and the Korean War. He was a quarry worker for the Indiana Limestone and Victor quarries in Oolitic.

Surviving is one daughter: Andrea Flynn and her husband Tim of Bloomington, one sister Bernice Deckard of Bedford; first grandson: Eric Reid DeFord and his wife Kathy, second grandson: Ira Joseph Deford, third grandson: Aaron Jacob Martin; First great grandson: Ross Alan Deford, second great grandson Dylan Reid DeFord, third great grandson Johnathan Alec DeFord. Also surviving is his former wife, Velma L. Bagwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Fraun Renee Martin; one son Randy Alan Kinser; two brothers Clovis Kinser and Pete Kinser.      Stephen Michael Bagwell was born on 28 August 1953 in Bedford, Indiana. He was the son of Robert Lee Bagwell and Marilyn Joyce Johnston. Stephen Michael Bagwell married Kendall Reinhard after 1972. Stephen Michael Bagwell married Pamela Jane Collyer on 25 August 1980 at Columbus, Indiana. Stephen Michael Bagwell died on 21 March 2000 in South Hill, Virginia, at age 46.
