Obituary: Walter Vernon Mayfield, 87, formerly of 112 Columbia Street, husband of Lalar Bagwell Mayfield died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Richard Campbell VA Home in Anderson. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Crayton and Gertrude Williams Mayfield. Walter was a US Navy veteran of WWII and formerly worked for Greenwood Specialty. He was preceded in death by a son, James Melvin Mayfield and by two sisters, Hazel Cain and Jeanette Brooks. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Patsy Davis and her husband, Johnny of Ware Shoals; a son Gerald Mayfield and his wife, Terri of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Becky Mayfield of Greenwood; four sisters, Lillian Reed of Anderson, Mary Thacston of Douglas, GA, Helen Duncan of GA and Joanne Buckhaulter of Bainbridge, GA; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Robbie Davis, Barry Mayfield, Walter McCants, Matt Shannon, Dwayne Threlkeld, Jim Davis, Chris Steifle and Wil Threlkeld. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at their respective homes.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. James H. Lauderdale officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Juanita was born Feb. 22, 1910, at home, on land which is now part of the JA Ranch. She was delivered at home, by her grandfather a pioneer Panhandle doctor. Her parents were John Lowry Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour Bagwell.

Juanita graduated from Claude High School in 1927 and subsequently attended West Texas State Teachers College (now West Texas A&M University) in Canyon.

Juanita married Rhea H. Owens on May 21, 1931, in Amarillo. He died in 1966. Mr. Owens, until his retirement, operated furniture stores in Amarillo and Abilene.

Juanita was very outgoing, enjoyed her family and friends, and loved to travel. Despite her age, she was determined to live within the comfort of her Ong Street home until 2008.

Juanita enjoyed cooking, entertaining, playing bridge, traveling, PEO Chapter B, volunteer service at St. Anthony's Hospital and being a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Fay Dellis Adams; a brother, Howard Bagwell; and a daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Lauderdale.

Survivors include a daughter, Juana Ree Owens Forrester and husband Carroll Mack Forrester of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Jim Lauderdale of McAllen; five grandchildren, Matthew Forrester and Miles Forrester, both of Amarillo, Mack Forrester of Dallas, Sara Lauderdale Tippit of McAllen and James Lauderdale of Austin; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Christopher Ryan Bagwell, 32, passed peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Chris was born April 19, 1983, in Midland to JoAnn and Don Bagwell. He graduated from Lee High School and attended Southwest Texas State. Chris will be missed in ways he never would have believed and forever loved by many. Despite many challenges, he never lost his love for life, people and special occasions. Chris had a generous heart, an artistic spirit, great intelligence, insightful wit, and an unrivaled love of movies. Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Ann Shreffler; and paternal grandparents, Howard and Lucretia Bagwell. Survivors: His mother and best friend, JoAnn Bagwell; father, Don Bagwell; brothers, Brian and Stephen Bagwell; beloved nephew, Pierson; aunt, Tina Shreffler; and many other relatives and friends.

Rayma Rogers, age 87 of Tomball, passed away May 11, 2020. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Rayma D. Rogers passed away at the age of 87 in Tomball, Tx. Rayma was born in Hayrick, Tx. on May 26, 1932, the daughter of Floyd and Charlie Belle Bagwell. She was the sister of three brothers and one sister. Rayma is survived by three children: Patsy Calhoun and her spouse John, William M. and his spouse Vicki, and Kathy Dannenbaum and her spouse Michael. During her lifetime she enjoyed ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She loved every single one of them. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Bagwell.
During her life she had the opportunity to live in Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, Iran, Trinidad, Norway, and Scotland. She enjoyed traveling and learning about the culture of each new country.
Upon returning to Texas, Rayma and Bill settled in Ft. Worth and their final residence was to be outside Tomball, Tx.
Rayma’s biggest joy in life was her family, her church, and Ladies Bible class. Until her stroke you could count on her being at church without fail. She had a strong belief in family and in God. She was also an avid reader. You could always find her reading either Patterson, Grisham, or Coulter. While she was in Scotland, she learned to oil paint and found it to be very relaxing.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions the Visitation and Funeral Service will be private, by invitation only. Burial will take place in Magnolia Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Magnolia Funeral Home.



She was buried at Magnolia Memorial Gardens, Magnolia, Montgomery County, Texas.
