Obituary: Walter Vernon Mayfield, 87, formerly of 112 Columbia Street, husband of Lalar Bagwell Mayfield died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Richard Campbell VA Home in Anderson. Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Crayton and Gertrude Williams Mayfield. Walter was a US Navy veteran of WWII and formerly worked for Greenwood Specialty. He was preceded in death by a son, James Melvin Mayfield and by two sisters, Hazel Cain and Jeanette Brooks. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Patsy Davis and her husband, Johnny of Ware Shoals; a son Gerald Mayfield and his wife, Terri of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Becky Mayfield of Greenwood; four sisters, Lillian Reed of Anderson, Mary Thacston of Douglas, GA, Helen Duncan of GA and Joanne Buckhaulter of Bainbridge, GA; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Robbie Davis, Barry Mayfield, Walter McCants, Matt Shannon, Dwayne Threlkeld, Jim Davis, Chris Steifle and Wil Threlkeld. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at their respective homes.

     John Lowrey Bagwell was born on 18 March 1885 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of John Calhoun Bagwell and Equilla Matthews. John Lowrey Bagwell married Lillie Mae Summerour before 1910. John Lowrey Bagwell died on 15 October 1968 at age 83. He was buried at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Randall County, Texas.

     Lillie Mae Summerour was buried at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Randall County, Texas. She was born on 18 September 1888. As of before 1910,her married name was Bagwell. She married John Lowrey Bagwell, son of John Calhoun Bagwell and Equilla Matthews, before 1910. Lillie Mae Summerour died on 5 June 1977 at age 88.

     Juanita Bagwell was born on 22 February 1910. She was the daughter of John Lowrey Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour. As of 21 May 1931,her married name was Ownes. Juanita Bagwell married Rhea Herron Owens on 21 May 1931 at Amarillo, Randall County, Texas. Juanita Bagwell died on 4 July 2009 at age 99

Juanita Bagwell Owens, 99, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 4, 2009.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. James H. Lauderdale officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Juanita was born Feb. 22, 1910, at home, on land which is now part of the JA Ranch. She was delivered at home, by her grandfather a pioneer Panhandle doctor. Her parents were John Lowry Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour Bagwell.

Juanita graduated from Claude High School in 1927 and subsequently attended West Texas State Teachers College (now West Texas A&M University) in Canyon.

Juanita married Rhea H. Owens on May 21, 1931, in Amarillo. He died in 1966. Mr. Owens, until his retirement, operated furniture stores in Amarillo and Abilene.

Juanita was very outgoing, enjoyed her family and friends, and loved to travel. Despite her age, she was determined to live within the comfort of her Ong Street home until 2008.

Juanita enjoyed cooking, entertaining, playing bridge, traveling, PEO Chapter B, volunteer service at St. Anthony's Hospital and being a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Fay Dellis Adams; a brother, Howard Bagwell; and a daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Lauderdale.

Survivors include a daughter, Juana Ree Owens Forrester and husband Carroll Mack Forrester of Amarillo; a son-in-law, Jim Lauderdale of McAllen; five grandchildren, Matthew Forrester and Miles Forrester, both of Amarillo, Mack Forrester of Dallas, Sara Lauderdale Tippit of McAllen and James Lauderdale of Austin; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rhea Herron Owens died on 12 November 1966 at age 64. He was buried at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Randall County, Texas.

     Howard Henry Bagwell was born on 19 July 1912 in Claude, Armstrong County, Texas. He was the son of John Lowrey Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour. Howard Henry Bagwell married Lucretia Gertrude Wilson after 1935. He was a Captain in the US Army during World War II. Howard Henry Bagwell died on 9 August 1981 in Midland, Midland County, Texas, at age 69. He was buried at Resthaven Memorial Park, Midland, Midland County, Texas.

     Fay Dellis Bagwell was also known as Faydellio Bagwell. She was born on 3 October 1917 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. She was the daughter of John Lowrey Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour. As of after 1935,her married name was Adams. Fay Dellis Bagwell married Dallas Adams after 1935. Fay Dellis Bagwell died on 10 December 1990 at age 73. She was buried at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Randall County, Texas.

     Lucretia Gertrude Wilson was born on 12 June 1917 in Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas. As of after 1935,her married name was Bagwell. She married Howard Henry Bagwell, son of John Lowrey Bagwell and Lillie Mae Summerour, after 1935. Lucretia Gertrude Wilson died on 3 November 2011 in Johnson City, Blanco County, Texas, at age 94.

     Donald Howard Bagwell is the son of Howard Henry Bagwell and Lucretia Gertrude Wilson. Donald Howard Bagwell married JoAnn Shreffler on 20 August 1977 at Tarrant, Texas. Donald Howard Bagwell married Kandi S. Murphy on 11 December 2004 at Midland, Texas.

     JoAnn Shreffler married Donald Howard Bagwell, son of Howard Henry Bagwell and Lucretia Gertrude Wilson, on 20 August 1977 at Tarrant, Texas.

     Christopher Ryan Bagwell was born on 19 April 1983 in Midland, Texas. He was the son of Donald Howard Bagwell and JoAnn Shreffler. Christopher Ryan Bagwell died on 4 February 2016 at age 32


Christopher Ryan Bagwell, 32, passed peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Chris was born April 19, 1983, in Midland to JoAnn and Don Bagwell. He graduated from Lee High School and attended Southwest Texas State. Chris will be missed in ways he never would have believed and forever loved by many. Despite many challenges, he never lost his love for life, people and special occasions. Chris had a generous heart, an artistic spirit, great intelligence, insightful wit, and an unrivaled love of movies. Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Ann Shreffler; and paternal grandparents, Howard and Lucretia Bagwell. Survivors: His mother and best friend, JoAnn Bagwell; father, Don Bagwell; brothers, Brian and Stephen Bagwell; beloved nephew, Pierson; aunt, Tina Shreffler; and many other relatives and friends.

     Suzanne Barber married William Cody Bagwell, son of Major William Charles "Bill" Bagwell Jr. and Patricia Cecilia Cody, on 24 January 1969 at Travis County, Texas.

     Lisa Suzanne Foster married Thad Bagwell, son of Major William Charles "Bill" Bagwell Jr. and Patricia Cecilia Cody, on 11 June 1983 at Travis County, Texas.

     James Otis Bagwell was born on 2 October 1934 in Coke County, Texas. He was the son of Floyd Henry Bagwell and Charliebelle Brunson. James Otis Bagwell married Martha Ann McClure in 1956. James Otis Bagwell died on 24 March 2005 in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 70. He was buried on 28 March 2005 at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas.

     Rayma Dolores Bagwell was born on 26 May 1932 in Coke County, Texas. She was the daughter of Floyd Henry Bagwell and Charliebelle Brunson. As of circa 1945,her married name was Rogers. Rayma Dolores Bagwell married William "Bill" Rogers circa 1945. Rayma Dolores Bagwell died on 11 May 2020 in Tomball, Harris County, Texas, at age 87

Rayma Rogers, age 87 of Tomball, passed away May 11, 2020. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to her family during this difficult time.

Rayma D. Rogers passed away at the age of 87 in Tomball, Tx. Rayma was born in Hayrick, Tx. on May 26, 1932, the daughter of Floyd and Charlie Belle Bagwell. She was the sister of three brothers and one sister. Rayma is survived by three children: Patsy Calhoun and her spouse John, William M. and his spouse Vicki, and Kathy Dannenbaum and her spouse Michael. During her lifetime she enjoyed ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She loved every single one of them. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Bagwell.
During her life she had the opportunity to live in Texas, New Mexico, Georgia, Iran, Trinidad, Norway, and Scotland. She enjoyed traveling and learning about the culture of each new country.
Upon returning to Texas, Rayma and Bill settled in Ft. Worth and their final residence was to be outside Tomball, Tx.
Rayma’s biggest joy in life was her family, her church, and Ladies Bible class. Until her stroke you could count on her being at church without fail. She had a strong belief in family and in God. She was also an avid reader. You could always find her reading either Patterson, Grisham, or Coulter. While she was in Scotland, she learned to oil paint and found it to be very relaxing.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions the Visitation and Funeral Service will be private, by invitation only. Burial will take place in Magnolia Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Magnolia Funeral Home.
