As of 31 December 1941,her married name was Herndon. Jean Cole Bagwell married Claude Norman Herndon Jr. on 31 December 1941 at Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Jean Cole Bagwell died on 3 March 2001 in Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, at age 76 Mrs. Jean B. Herndon, 76, a resident of 15-202 Rockwood, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. Mrs. Herndon was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late John Riles and Viola Covington Bagwell. She was also predeceased by her husband, Claude Norman Herndon Jr. Mrs. Herndon attended Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church and was retired from Home Security Life Insurance Company.

Surviving are a daughter, Norma Ferrell, of Stem; two sons, Brett Herndon and Harold Norman Herndon, of Durham; one brother, John Riles Bagwell Jr., of Durham; one sister, Anne B. Woodard, of Graham; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, with the Rev. Stan Geyer officiating. The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and other times at 910 Ruby St.. Flowers are acceptable, or memorials may be made to the Harrell- Carr Family Foundation for Gastric Cancer Research, Dr. Herbert Herwitz, Duke University Medical Center. Woodard, 85, of Graham, died at her residence on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.
A native of Durham County, she was the wife of the late Troy William
Woodard Sr. and the daughter of John Bagwell and Viola Covington Bagwell, both deceased. Anne was a graduate of Durham High School and later Anderson College. She was an active member of Graham Presbyterian Church, where she was involved with the Women of the Church. She was a former Pink Lady at Alamance County Hospital and later Alamance Regional Medical Center. Anne's most treasured moments were celebrating times and special events with her children and grandchildren. She cherished her neighborhood and church friendships.
She is survived by four sons, Troy W. Woodard Jr. and wife Barbara, of Elon, R. Blair Woodard and wife Lisa, of Cary, D. Reid Woodard and wife Jill, of Graham, and Todd G. Woodard and wife Lissa, of Myrtle Beach, S.C; a daughter Gena W. Davis and husband Bobby, of Knoxville, Tenn; 18 grandchildren, Wil Woodard, Caitlin Woodard, Philip Woodard, Christy Woodard, Robbie Woodard, Helen Ann Woodard, Ivey Woodard, Kayleigh Woodard, Katharine Woodard, Sarah Woodard, Caroline Woodard,
Rachael
Woodard, Todd Woodard, Meagan Hundt and husband Douglas, Cole Davis, Parker Davis, David Swink, and Adam Swink; and her beloved dog, "Zoye."
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Bagwell; and a sister, Jean Herndon.
A funeral service will be held at Graham Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Monday, Feb. 17, from 5 until 7 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Hilda Bagwell Taylor age 78 of Decatur, Ga., passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Carrie (McDonald) Bagwell; her husband of 39« years, Clarence H. Taylor; brother, Jimmy Bagwell. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Taylor and Caroline Taylor both of Atlanta, Ga.

A Gainesville, Ga., native, Hilda graduated from Gainesville High School, class of 1955. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brenau University in 1960, and her masters in education from Georgia State University in 1980. She worked as a special education teacher for Gwinnett County Schools. Hilda was a lifelong Democrat, a loyal Baptist, a first generation feminist and an avid traveler who never met a stranger.


She was buried at Eternal Hills Cemetery, Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Gail O’Shields Bagwell, 60, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 26, 1956, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Clyde O’Shields and Grace West O’Shields.
Mrs. Bagwell received her BA and MA Degrees from Converse College. She retired as music teacher at Hendrix Elementary School after 38 years of service. She was also the music director and children’s choir director at various churches and founding director of The International Choir at Hendrix Elementary.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Garland Bagwell; children, Dr. Grace Bagwell Adams (Clayton) of Athens, GA, Dr. Ashley Bagwell Daugherty (Michael) of Lexington, SC, and Anah Gail Bagwell of the home; grandchildren, Brayden and Callen Daugherty and two granddaughters on the way; and a niece, April O’Shields Hucks of Conway, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James Clyde O’Shields, Jr.
Gail was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and Gigi.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. K. Travis Adams. Burial will be private.
