     Jean Cole Bagwell was born on 1 June 1924 in Wake County, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Riles Bagwell Sr. and Grace Viola Covington. As of 31 December 1941,her married name was Herndon. Jean Cole Bagwell married Claude Norman Herndon Jr. on 31 December 1941 at Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Jean Cole Bagwell died on 3 March 2001 in Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, at age 76 Mrs. Jean B. Herndon, 76, a resident of 15-202 Rockwood, died Saturday, March 3, 2001. Mrs. Herndon was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late John Riles and Viola Covington Bagwell. She was also predeceased by her husband, Claude Norman Herndon Jr. Mrs. Herndon attended Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church and was retired from Home Security Life Insurance Company.

Surviving are a daughter, Norma Ferrell, of Stem; two sons, Brett Herndon and Harold Norman Herndon, of Durham; one brother, John Riles Bagwell Jr., of Durham; one sister, Anne B. Woodard, of Graham; and three grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, with the Rev. Stan Geyer officiating. The family will receive friends at Clements Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. and other times at 910 Ruby St.. He was in the US Navy during World War II. John Riles Bagwell Jr. married Ruby Mae Pendergraph on 18 January 1951 at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. John Riles Bagwell Jr. died on 10 June 2005 at age 78. He was buried at Markham Memorial Gardens, Durham, Durham County, North Carolina.

     Anne Bagwell was born on 6 April 1928 in North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of John Riles Bagwell Sr. and Grace Viola Covington. As of after 1946,her married name was Woodard.² Anne Bagwell married Troy William Woodard Sr. after 1946.² Anne Bagwell and Troy William Woodard Sr. lived in 2001 in Graham, North Carolina.² Anne Bagwell died on 15 February 2014 at age 85

A native of Durham County, she was the wife of the late Troy William
Woodard Sr. and the daughter of John Bagwell and Viola Covington Bagwell, both deceased. Anne was a graduate of Durham High School and later Anderson College. She was an active member of Graham Presbyterian Church, where she was involved with the Women of the Church. She was a former Pink Lady at Alamance County Hospital and later Alamance Regional Medical Center. Anne's most treasured moments were celebrating times and special events with her children and grandchildren. She cherished her neighborhood and church friendships.
She is survived by four sons, Troy W. Woodard Jr. and wife Barbara, of Elon, R. Blair Woodard and wife Lisa, of Cary, D. Reid Woodard and wife Jill, of Graham, and Todd G. Woodard and wife Lissa, of Myrtle Beach, S.C; a daughter Gena W. Davis and husband Bobby, of Knoxville, Tenn; 18 grandchildren, Wil Woodard, Caitlin Woodard, Philip Woodard, Christy Woodard, Robbie Woodard, Helen Ann Woodard, Ivey Woodard, Kayleigh Woodard, Katharine Woodard, Sarah Woodard, Caroline Woodard,
Rachael
Woodard, Todd Woodard, Meagan Hundt and husband Douglas, Cole Davis, Parker Davis, David Swink, and Adam Swink; and her beloved dog, "Zoye."
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Bagwell; and a sister, Jean Herndon.
A funeral service will be held at Graham Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Monday, Feb. 17, from 5 until 7 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Nannie Bagwell married Charles Hughes on 25 April 1900 at Wake County, North Carolina. Nannie Bagwell died on 11 March 1941 at age 65. She was buried at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.

     Charles Hughes married Nannie Bagwell, daughter of William Sidney Bagwell and Nancy Britt, on 25 April 1900 at Wake County, North Carolina.

     Sara Helen Bagwell was born on 6 September 1918 in Gainesville, Georgia. She was the daughter of Eugene Edward Bagwell and Della Pearl Kimsey.¹ As of 22 December 1947,her married name was Sawyer. Sara Helen Bagwell married James Brancson Sawyer on 22 December 1947 at Norfolk, Virginia. Sara Helen Bagwell died on 27 August 1977 at age 58. She was buried at Moyock Memorial Cemetery, Moyock, Currituck County, North Carolina.

     James Brancson Sawyer was born on 10 August 1910 in North Carolina. He married Sara Helen Bagwell, daughter of Eugene Edward Bagwell and Della Pearl Kimsey, on 22 December 1947 at Norfolk, Virginia. James Brancson Sawyer died on 13 June 1983 in Virginia Beach, Virginia Beach, Virginia, at age 72. He was buried at Moyock Memorial Cemetery, Moyock, Currituck County, North Carolina.

     Robert Harold Barker married Evelyn Isabella Bagwell, daughter of Eugene Edward Bagwell and Della Pearl Kimsey, after 1940.

     Carrie Julia McDonald was born in 1904 in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia. As of after 1920,her married name was Bagwell. She married James Curtis Bagwell, son of James Harrison Bagwell and Nancy Ada Cheek, after 1920. Carrie Julia McDonald died on 5 October 1979 in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia. She was buried at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.

     James F. Bagwell was born on 29 May 1931 in Georgia. He was the son of James Curtis Bagwell and Carrie Julia McDonald. James F. Bagwell died on 9 February 1991 at age 59. He was buried on 10 February 1991 at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.

     Hilda Clyde Bagwell was born on 7 December 1937 in Georgia. She was the daughter of James Curtis Bagwell and Carrie Julia McDonald. As of after 1958,her married name was Taylor. Hilda Clyde Bagwell married Clarence Henry Taylor after 1958. Hilda Clyde Bagwell died on 18 May 2016 in Decatur, Georgia, at age 78


Hilda Bagwell Taylor age 78 of Decatur, Ga., passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Carrie (McDonald) Bagwell; her husband of 39« years, Clarence H. Taylor; brother, Jimmy Bagwell. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Taylor and Caroline Taylor both of Atlanta, Ga.

A Gainesville, Ga., native, Hilda graduated from Gainesville High School, class of 1955. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brenau University in 1960, and her masters in education from Georgia State University in 1980. She worked as a special education teacher for Gwinnett County Schools. Hilda was a lifelong Democrat, a loyal Baptist, a first generation feminist and an avid traveler who never met a stranger.


She was buried at Eternal Hills Cemetery, Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.

     Claude William Bagwell was born on 29 January 1921. He was the son of William Clifford Hulsey Bagwell and Willie Nadine Fulcher. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. Claude William Bagwell died on 29 February 2012 at age 91. He was buried at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.

     Mary Emma Woolley was born on 4 January 1872. As of after 1885,her married name was Bagwell. She married William Asberry Bagwell, son of John Daniel Bagwell and Parreness Ann Prather, after 1885. Mary Emma Woolley died on 1 April 1954 at age 82. She was buried at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.

     T. Belle (?) was born on 6 July 1903.¹ As of after 1920,her married name was Bagwell. She married Elmer Charles Bagwell, son of Richard Truman Bagwell and Sarah A. Tulula "Lula" Brown, after 1920. T. Belle (?) died on 12 July 1971 at age 68.¹ She was buried at Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia.¹

     Steven Garland Bagwell married Gail O'Shields after 1970.

Gail O’Shields Bagwell, 60, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 26, 1956, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Clyde O’Shields and Grace West O’Shields.
Mrs. Bagwell received her BA and MA Degrees from Converse College. She retired as music teacher at Hendrix Elementary School after 38 years of service. She was also the music director and children’s choir director at various churches and founding director of The International Choir at Hendrix Elementary.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Garland Bagwell; children, Dr. Grace Bagwell Adams (Clayton) of Athens, GA, Dr. Ashley Bagwell Daugherty (Michael) of Lexington, SC, and Anah Gail Bagwell of the home; grandchildren, Brayden and Callen Daugherty and two granddaughters on the way; and a niece, April O’Shields Hucks of Conway, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, James Clyde O’Shields, Jr.
Gail was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and Gigi.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, February 27, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. K. Travis Adams. Burial will be private.
