James Alvin Painter Bagwell Sr. married Anne Meadors after 1958. James Alvin Painter Bagwell Sr. died on 10 October 2004 in South Carolina at age 76

Alvin Bagwell Sr., age 77, of 604 Musgrove St., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Clinton, and was a son of the late L.H. and Eunice Painter Bagwell.

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, was a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church; was a graduate of Clinton High School and Presbyterian College, was a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy of World War II, and was awarded the Victory Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Meadors Bagwell, of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Ginny B. Petitt and Steve, of Grand Terrace, Calif., and Debbie B. McLendon and Freddie, of Clinton; a son and his wife, James A. Bagwell Jr. (Al) and Mary, of Clinton; grandchildren, Stephanie Petitt, of Anaheim, Calif., Andrea Rossi, of Hemet, Calif., F. Steven McLendon, of Myrtle Beach, M. Shane McLendon, of Orangeburg, Jeffrey Bagwell and Zachary Bagwell, both of Clinton; and great-grandchildren, Christian Rossi and Coby Rossi, both of Hemet, Calif.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Curry Bagwell; and a brother, L.H. Bagwell Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Davidson Street Baptist Church, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325. Gray Funeral Home-Clinton ublished in The Greenville News on October 12, 2004.1

He was buried at Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton, Laurens County, South Carolina.1

Anne Meadors Bagwell, 77, widow of J. Alvin Bagwell passed away April 24, 2019.
She was born in Clinton and was a daughter of the late James Clair and Kate Watkins Meadors.
Mrs. Bagwell was a former employee of CNNGA, retired from Whitten Center and was currently employed with Cooper Motor Company. She was a very active member of Davidson Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her step-son, J. Alvin Bagwell Jr. and his children Jeffrey and Zachary; a daughter-in-law, Mary Bagwell of Clinton; her step-daughters, Ginny Petitt her husband Steve and children Stephanie and Andrea of Arizona; Debbie McLendon her husband Freddie and children Steven and Shane of Clinton; brothers, Charles R. Meadors and Bobby Meadors both of Clinton; sisters, Louise M. Armstrong of Columbus MS and Ruby M. Lanford of Clinton; best friend, Jean Sipes of Clinton, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her brother, James M. Meadors and her sisters, Ellen Meadors and Earline Ficklin.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Pinelawn Mausoleum Chapel at 3:00 PM by Rev. Kenny Moore.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Davidson Street Baptist Church Building Fund 400 Davidson Street Clinton, SC 29325.
The family will be at their respective homes.

Dorothy Faye Stewart died on 1 August 2006 in Rogersville, Hawkins County, Tennessee, at age 78 [:CR:]Dorothy "Dot" Bagwell, 78, of 340 Old Highway 70 South, formerly of Greenville, widow of Cecil Lee Bagwell, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at her residence.

Born in Shelby, N.C., she was a daughter of the late George Frank and Mildred Cole Stewart.

Mr. and Mrs. Bagwell formerly owned and operated The Rib and Loin Restaurant in Greenville. She attended Calvary Assembly of God.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Mike Bednar of Rogersville, Tenn., Randee and Jerry Stewart of Powdersville; two grandchildren, Adryan Ruth Stewart of Columbia and Jared Andrew Stewart of Powdersville; and a sister, Phemy Moore of Mauldin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Stewart.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 4, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at 121 Wilson Way, Piedmont.

     According to J.M. Bagwell's grandaughter [Marlene Gay Bagwell (Drummond)], J.M. was his iniitials; they were his name.1 J. M. Bagwell was born on 20 October 1926 in South Carolina.2 He was the son of Hovey Lee Bagwell and Irene F. Davenport.1 He served as a Staff Sargeant in the US Air Corp and then the US Air Force during World War II and the Korean War and Vietnam.2 J. M. Bagwell married Bernice J. Edwards on 27 September 1952 at San Bernardino, California.1 J. M. Bagwell died on 31 October 1995 in Redlands, San Bernardino County, California, at age 69.2 He was buried at Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, San Bernardino County, California.2
