After the death of Milton, Betty worked hard and then purchased her house on Bagwell Lane with the white fence. She loved her fence because her father Charlie built the fence for her. Betty loved her family near and far. When family and friends would come and visit Accomac, Betty’s house was their first stop and when they departed Accomac, Betty’s house was the last stop. You could always count on a big smile, some food to eat, and some beverages. Betty loved to cook and was famous for her mac-n-cheese and chicken salad. She loved Christmas and New Year’s, because she would vacation in New Jersey with her brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Alberta. She would organize the family reunions and would play her music and dance. Her favorite song, I’ll Take You There by the Staple Singers, would become her family’s anthem. There are so many things Betty did well that would gain the hearts of many. She was loved by many and had many names, such as “Lefty, Big Betty, and Betty Bell.”
