He was born August 16, 1931 in Buncombe County, NC to the late William Clay & Leona Bagwell; and came to Frostproof in 1954 from Fletcher, NC. He was a retired owner of Bagwell Lumber, of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy. He loved hunting, fishing and working with his cows.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Tommy Bagwell; son, Dickie Bagwell. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Peggy Bagwell; son, Frank Bagwell, Jr. (Judy) of Frostproof; sisters, Billie Jean Pack of Avon Park and Phyllis Marie Clark of Tucker, GA; brother, Robert Bagwell (Mary Ann) of Arden, NC; five grandchildren, Frank Bagwell III, Laci Brooker (Bear), Vikki Ray (Kenny), Crystal Watts (Brandon) and Lori Bagwell; nine great-grandchildren, Lindsey & McKensey Ray, Marlee & Karsyn Brooker, Easton Bagwell, Cogan, Brent & Lilly Watts and Brianna Bagwell.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will be private at Silver Hill Cemetery.
He was buried at Silver Hill Cemetery, Frostproof, Polk County, Florida.

Raymond D. Bagwell, age 80, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Mr. Bagwell excelled at woodworking and was a cabinet maker for over 25 years. As a young man, he enjoyed being outdoors where he worked on a dairy farm, rode horses and oftentimes went camping. A genuine family man, Mr. Bagwell counted time spent with loved ones as one of life’s greatest joys. His favorite pastimes were NASCAR racing, trips to the mountains, and relaxing in his rocking chair. Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his parents, Forest B. and Nellie M. (Hayes) Bagwell; and six siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bagwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Gene McIntyre, Kay and Jack Wells, Vickie Moore, Pam and Brad Parson, Susie Miller, Faye and David Russell; sons and daughter-in-law, David Todd Bagwell, Wesley Bagwell, Bobby and Robin Bagwell; 17 grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Mr. Bagwell will be held Friday, January 4, 2019, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Bagwell to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Memorial Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Chesnee Masonic Lodge #294, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter Annette Cash Tipton; and a grandson, Brian Tipton.

He is survived by three sons, Earl Cash and wife Rita of Cowpens, Ricky Cash and wife Gayle of Cowpens, Jimmy Cash and wife Cynthia of Blacksburg; four sisters, Cleo Quinn, Marie McCraw and Jenez Cash, all of Cowpens, Edna Wagner of Chesnee; two brothers, Floyd Cash and Wayne Cash, both of Cowpens; five grandchildren, Tracy Clyde, Sheila Cash, John Cash, Matthew Cash, Casey Cash; and five great-grandchildren, Brittney Briggs, Collin and Rylee Cash, Chance and Justin Clyde.

The family received friends 7:00-9:00 p.m., Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Eggers Funeral Home in Chesnee. Masonic rites were held at 6:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 7, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Revs. Darrell Revels and Larry Fleming officiating. Burial followed in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
