     Claude Garland Bagwell was born on 4 September 1917 in South Carolina. He was the son of Garnett Lee Bagwell and Hettie Higgins. He served in the US Army (T/4 Grade) - Overseas Veteran of World War II. Claude Garland Bagwell married Blanche Sarrett after 1946. Claude Garland Bagwell died on 29 November 1994 in Gaffney, Cherokee County, South Carolina, at age 77. He was buried at Oakland Cemetery, Gaffney, Cherokee County, South Carolina.

Lecil Bagwell Benedict, an organist at Second Presbyterian Church for 38 years, died Thursday in Dallas. She was 88.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Memory Chapel.
The Lipan, Texas, native graduated from Weatherford (Texas) High School and attended North Texas State Teachers College, St. Louis Institute of Music and the University of Denver.
After college she spent most her life in Tulsa, teaching piano and playing organ.
She was also the organist for Moore Funeral Home for more than four decades.
Benedict was a 50-year member of the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association, and a member of various other professional organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eastman Hardesty Benedict.
Benedict is survived by a daughter, Jane Lecil Echols of Dallas, and three grandchildren.

     Eastman Hardesty Benedict was born on 27 November 1903 in Lincoln County, Missouri. He married Lecil McFall Bagwell, daughter of Lecil Marion Bagwell and Georgia McFall, circa 1930. Eastman Hardesty Benedict died on 9 December 1968 in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, at age 65.

     Odus J. Bagwell was born in March 1880 in Hood County, Texas. He was the son of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale.

     Myrtle Violet Bagwell was born on 19 February 1882 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. She was the daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale. As of before 1915,her married name was Perry. Myrtle Violet Bagwell married James Harrison Perry before 1915. Myrtle Violet Bagwell died on 6 November 1964 in Erath County, Texas, at age 82.

     James Harrison Perry was born on 16 August 1880 in Heflin, Cleburne County, Alabama. He married Myrtle Violet Bagwell, daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale, before 1915. James Harrison Perry died on 24 October 1918 in Hemphill County, Texas, at age 38.

She married Isham Curtis Bagwell, son of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale, after 1902. Vera Kellis died on 19 January 1953 in Riverside, Riverside County, California, at age 65.¹ She was buried at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside, Riverside County, Texas.¹

     Robert Carl Bagwell was born on 12 May 1887 in Lipan, Hood County, Texas.¹ He was the son of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale. Robert Carl Bagwell died on 6 January 1914 in Lipan, Hood County, Texas, at age 26.¹ He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan, Hood County, Texas.¹

     Jewel J. Bagwell was born on 11 November 1894 in Lipan, Hood County, Texas. She was the daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale. As of before 1919,her married name was Greenwood. Jewel J. Bagwell married Sam Greenwood before 1919. Jewel J. Bagwell died on 23 October 1957 in Farmersville, Collin County, Texas, at age 62.

     Sam Greenwood was born on 14 April 1888 in Texas. He married Jewel J. Bagwell, daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Emma Virginia Hale, before 1919. Sam Greenwood died on 3 April 1964 in Harris County, Texas, at age 75.

     Maurine Gardner Bagwell was born on 19 August 1910 in Texas. She was the daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Dena Gardner High. As of after 1925,her married name was Pillow. Maurine Gardner Bagwell married James W. Pillow after 1925. Maurine Gardner Bagwell died on 21 September 1993 in Combes, Cameron County, Texas, at age 83.

     James W. Pillow was born on 13 October 1883. He married Maurine Gardner Bagwell, daughter of John Isham Bagwell and Dena Gardner High, after 1925. James W. Pillow died on 27 July 1972 at age 88.

     Mary A. R. Prewitt was born in August 1835 in Georgia. As of 10 January 1856,her married name was Bagwell. She married Larkin B. Bagwell, son of William Hitch Bagwell and Elizabeth Wallace Rowe, on 10 January 1856 at Floyd, Georgia.

     Lucinda Bagwell was born in February 1861 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Larkin B. Bagwell and Mary A. R. Prewitt.

     Charolette Inez Jamieson also went by the name of Bobbie. She was born on 3 April 1909 in South Carolina. As of before 1925,her married name was Bagwell. She married Ewell Manning Lee Bagwell, son of Enoch B. Bagwell and Mary Alice Tumblin, before 1925. Charolette Inez Jamieson died on 1 January 1992 in South Carolina at age 82. She was buried at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

     Jack Samuel Bagwell was also known as Samuel Jack Bagwell. He was born on 31 August 1925 in Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina. He was the son of Ewell Manning Lee Bagwell and Charolette Inez Jamieson. Jack Samuel Bagwell married Joyce Wardell after 1945. Jack Samuel Bagwell died on 27 September 2007 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at age 82 Jack S. Bagwell, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, September 27, 2007, at Woodruff Manor.

Born August 31, 1925, in Laurens, SC, he was the son of the late Manning Lee Bagwell and Charlotte Inez (Jameson) Bagwell and the husband of the late Joyce (Wardell) Bagwell.

He retired from Drayton Mill and was a member of Drayton Baptist Church. He played on the Textile and American Legion Baseball teams and was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Bagwell, Ronnie Bagwell of Lyman, and Vance Bagwell of Duncan; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Jacque Givins.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Lewis Cannon.

The family received friends following the service at the graveside.

     Ronald Lee Bagwell was also known as Ronnie. He was born on 9 February 1949 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. He was the son of Jack Samuel Bagwell and Joyce Wardell. Ronald Lee Bagwell married Karen Leigh Jones before 1968. Ronald Lee Bagwell died on 24 August 2022 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at age 73


Ronald “Ronnie Lee Bagwell, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 24, 2022 at his home. Born February 9, 1949 in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late Samuel Jack and Joyce Wardell Bagwell.

Ronnie worked at Earnhart Electric Service for 39 years and attended Roebuck United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of baseball and the Gamecocks. He loved to watch “Gunsmoke” and enjoyed being outdoors where he could walk for miles.

Survivors include his children, Mickey Bagwell of Chesnee, April Bagwell, Jacob Bagwell of Reidville, and Josh Bell (Ruth) of Forest City, NC; Grandchildren, Jacqueline Bagwell Aubrie Bagwell, both of Reidville, Brooke Cantrell and Kip Bagwell, both of Chesnee; Great-grandchildren, Cali Cantrell and Emorie Cantrell, both of Chesnee; and brother, Vance Bagwell. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Givens.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Jones Brewer, Pastor Edward Enlow, Sheriff Chuck Wright and Jacque Bagwell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.


He was buried on 28 August 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

     Vance Bagwell is the son of Jack Samuel Bagwell and Joyce Wardell.

     Jacque Bagwell was born after 1946. She was the daughter of Jack Samuel Bagwell and Joyce Wardell. Jacque Bagwell died before 2007.

     Frank Arthur Knight was born on 18 September 1882. He married Mae Bagwell, daughter of Enoch B. Bagwell and Mary Alice Tumblin, after 1895. Frank Arthur Knight died on 22 January 1945 at age 62.
