Raymond Eugene Bagwell, 47, 10 West Forrest St., died Monday morning in a Rome hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Bagwell was born in Floyd County Oct. 14, 1932, son of Maude Holloway Bagwell and the late Carl Bagwell, who died Sept. 13, 1968. Mr. Bagwell was a sheet metal worker, a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. A sister, Mrs. Shirley Lanier died in 1963.

Survivors include his widow, Avanell Hovers Bagwell, Rome, to whom he was married Sept. 2, 1972; one daughter, Mrs. Connie Tucker, Rome; two sons, Wyatt Eugene and Barry Edward Bagwell, both of Cartersville; two step-sons, Darrell Hovers and Danny Kelley, both of Rome; his mother, Maude Holloway Bagwell, Rome; three grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Henderson Frazier Funeral Home with the Revs. Glenn Higgins and Bobby Green officiating. Interment will be in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Maggie Ellen Bagwell, age 90, passed away on March 19, 2023, in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born in Spring Valley, Arkansas on September 3, 1932, to the late Rev. Bruce Phillips and Elsie (Jones) Phillips. Maggie was a prayer warrior who leaves behind a legacy of the power of prayer to her family. She was a long time member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist in Springdale, Arkansas. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, George Bagwell Sr. and son, Bruce Duane Bagwell.

Maggie is survived by three sons, James Bagwell of Springdale, George Bagwell Jr. (Shirley) of Lowell, and Paul Bagwell (Connie) of Springdale; two daughters, Donna Burke (Donnie) of Springdale, and Beth Farmer of Fayetteville; two sisters, Pauline Kennard of Everett, Washington and Jean Bohannan of Dover, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, a Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist in Springdale, Arkansas. Funeral Service will begin that same day at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Watson and Rev. Eldon Bagwell officiating. Interment to follow at Burkshed Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Bagwell, Adam Bolin, Rodney Burke, Shawn Bagwell, Eric Bagwell, Nathan Bagwell and Jonathan Isaacs. Honorary Pallbearer is David Woody. Bruce “Duane” Bagwell, age 72 of Elm Springs, died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born May 4, 1950 in Fayetteville. Duane was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and actively involved with the music ministry at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed working on projects around his house and was devoted to his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda (Grigg) Bagwell; his mother, Maggie (Phillips) Bagwell; three children, Sheri Bagwell, Aaron Duane Bagwell and wife Dr. Holli, LaDawna Bolin and husband Adam; five siblings, Jim Bagwell, Donna Burke, George Bagwell, Jr., Beth Lynn Bagwell, Paul Bagwell; three grandchildren, Alexys Bolin, Cameron Bolin and Abigail Bagwell. Duane was preceded in death by his father, George Melroy Bagwell, Sr.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral at 10 a.m. Monday, October 10, at Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at Elm Springs Cemetery.

Brenda Kay Bagwell, age 73 of Elm Springs passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, in her home. She was born May 26, 1950, in Littlefield Texas. Brenda was a seamstress as well as a retired cafeteria manager for Springdale Public Schools at Lee Elementary. She was a member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, gardening and landscaping, and shopping. She was devoted to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Elsa Cook Grigg along with her husband of 53 years, Bruce Duane Bagwell. Survivors include her children, Sheri Bagwell of Elm Springs, Aaron Bagwell and his wife, Holli of Elm Springs, LaDawna (Bagwell) Bolin and husband, Adam of Elm Springs. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Alexys Bolin, Cameron Bolin and Abigail Bagwell.

Funeral service will be 10:00AM, Thursday September 7, 2023 at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00AM till service time. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
