     Robert Walter Bagwell was born on 21 August 1925 in Northport, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was the son of James Wiley Bagwell and Martha Ann Alma Holman. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He served aboard the USS Ammen (DD-527), a Fletcher-class destroyer. Robert Walter Bagwell married Frieda Madison Bonner on 1 December 1943 at Pinellas, Florida. Robert Walter Bagwell lived in 2018 in 8 Mile, Alabama.¹ He died on 15 November 2022 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama, at age 97. He was buried on 21 November 2022 at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Tillman's Corner, Mobile County, Alabama.

Frieda Bonner Bagwell passed away peacefully in hospice on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama. She was 97 years old. Born on December 2, 1926, Frieda was the oldest of three sisters.

Frieda was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother, and friend. She was also a wife, and one important aspect of her life was her marriage for almost 79 years to her husband Bob, who died on November 15, 2022. A beautiful drum majorette in high school, she fell in love with Bob and married him on her seventeenth birthday--shortly before he shipped out on a destroyer to do his part in World War II.

They later had two children, Larry and Tim, both of whom had deep relationships with Frieda during her whole life. She supported her loved ones through thick and thin, overcoming incidents like her four-year-old son getting hit by a car and her husband getting burned in an electrical fire.

One of her defining characteristics was her sense of adventure and independence. Frieda's sense of adventure led her to move with her family to Aruba, and later live in Papua New Guinea and Las Vegas. In Aruba, a friend brought her a pair of newborn South American parakeets, which she raised by hand and taught to talk, calling them "sweetie" and "baby." When the family moved back from Aruba, Frieda smuggled her beloved birds into the country in her handbag.

Years later, in Papua New Guinea, she wanted to see the top of the mountain where the copper mine Bob worked at was located, but the only way was to hitch a helicopter ride and then wait at the top for several hours to be picked up. Despite the cold and wet, it became one of her most memorable life experiences.

Frieda had grown up without much, and she was always determined to look out for others. A dedicated member of the Church of Christ, she embraced the values of love, faith, kindness, and tolerance. She very rarely complained or asked for help, despite her asthma and not knowing for most of her life that she suffered from Celiac disease and an abnormally small esophagus. Even in the final years of her life, Frieda's independence and stubbornness saw her selling the house she had lived in for 50 years and making her own arrangements for the next phase of her life.

Frieda loved crab claws, crossword puzzles, and the Atlanta Braves. She made a mean fried okra and cornbread dressing and passed along unique family recipes like chess cake. She instilled her sense of duty, intelligence, independence, and adventure in her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by them, her two sons, and her younger sisters, Jean and Yvonne as well as her nieces Marilyn and Alice and her nephew Neal.

We will all miss her dearly and are grateful for the love and gifts she brought to us with her life well lived.

Her family will honor her memory will a funeral service on Tuesday September 17th at the Mausoleum Chapel in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday September 17th beginning at 12:00pm.

     Juedith Ann Bagwell was born on 20 July 1940 in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.² She was the daughter of James Arthur Bagwell and Clara Edith Garrison. She was book keeper. Juedith Ann Bagwell married Clyde B. Mosley. Juedith Ann Bagwell died on 19 May 1977 in Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia, at age 36.² She was buried at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.²

     Clyde B. Mosley married Juedith Ann Bagwell, daughter of James Arthur Bagwell and Clara Edith Garrison.

     Sharon Camille Bagwell was born on 20 July 1946 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. She was the daughter of James Arthur Bagwell and Clara Edith Garrison. As of 3 March 1973,her married name was Marable. Sharon Camille Bagwell married William Grover Marable on 3 March 1973. Sharon Camille Bagwell died on 4 February 2024 in Northport, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, at age 77


Sharon Bagwell Marable, 77, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away on February 4th in Northport, AL.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday April 20th at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel, interment to follow.

Sharon was born in Birmingham, AL to James and Edith Bagwell on July 20th, 1946. She went to school at Tuscaloosa High School. Sharon married William “Bill” Marable on March 3, 1973, in Tuscaloosa. She graduated from University of Alabama. Sharon retired from Tuscaloosa County Schools where she worked as a Guidance Counselor for many years. She was involved in The Daughters of the King, the Pioneer Gardening Club, and Friends of Freedom Library.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents James and Edith, her sister Juedith and her husband Bill.

Sharon is survived by her children, Kyrah and Will Marable; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Marable; her 4 grand children: Brooklyn, Tré, and Isabel Marable; and Marshal Karasevich.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her name to Canterbury Episcopal Chapel, 812 5th Avenue, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401.

Jackson Randolph Bagwell married Lonia Edetta Dunn on 30 December 1903.¹ Jackson Randolph Bagwell died on 8 April 1963 in Fayette County, Alabama, at age 87.^2,3 He was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.^2,3

     Charles Columbus Bagwell was born on 30 April 1882 in Alabama.^2,1 He was the son of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton. Charles Columbus Bagwell married Ethel Lue Swindle before 1916.² Charles Columbus Bagwell died on 28 November 1971 in Berry, Fayette County, Alabama, at age 89.^2,1 He was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.^2,1

     Joseph (Joe) Hudson Bagwell was born on 22 February 1887 in Alabama.^1,2 He was the son of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton. Joseph (Joe) Hudson Bagwell married Ila L. Adams circa 1902.² Joseph (Joe) Hudson Bagwell lived in 1920 in Holly Springs, Fayette County, Alabama. He and Ila L. Adams lived in 1930 in Precinct 12, Walker County, Alabama.² Joseph (Joe) Hudson Bagwell died on 10 October 1955 at age 68.¹ He was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.¹

     Her married name was Falls. Susie Bagwell was buried at Berry, Fayette County, Alabama. She married Ed Falls. Susie Bagwell was born in 1885. She was the daughter of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton. Susie Bagwell died in 1917.

     Lula Bagwell was born in October 1877 in Alabama. She was the daughter of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton. As of 17 January 1910,her married name was Adams. Lula Bagwell married William R "Bill" Adams on 17 January 1910 at Fayette County, Alabama.

     Ruth Texas Bagwell was born on 28 April 1880 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.^2,3 She was the daughter of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton. Ruth Texas Bagwell married Thomas Tennyson Dunn circa 1901.¹ As of before 1902,her married name was Dunn. Ruth Texas Bagwell died on 4 July 1949 in Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 69.³ She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.³

     Annie L. Nabors was born on 30 September 1876 in Alabama.¹ As of 8 November 1892,her married name was Bagwell.      Leonard Bagwell was born on 7 August 1901 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.¹ He was the son of James William Bagwell and Annie L. Nabors. Leonard Bagwell married Mayme Bolton on 17 June 1923.² Leonard Bagwell died on 14 May 1983 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, at age 81.¹ He was buried at Wiley Cemetery, Wiley, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.¹

     Mayme Bolton was born on 25 August 1905 in Alabama.^1,2 As of 17 June 1923,her married name was Bagwell. She married Leonard Bagwell, son of James William Bagwell and Annie L.      Lonia Edetta Dunn was also known as Lona Dunn.² She was born on 31 October 1886 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.^3,2,1 As of 30 December 1903,her married name was Bagwell. She married Jackson Randolph Bagwell, son of Elijah Hudson Bagwell and Charity Ann Upton, on 30 December 1903.² Lonia Edetta Dunn died on 29 January 1963 in Fayette County, Alabama, at age 76.^3,1 She died on 29 January 1967 in Fayette County, Alabama, at age 80.¹ She was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.^3,1

     Herman Jack Bagwell was born on 18 November 1905 in Alabama.¹ He was the son of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn.¹ Herman Jack Bagwell married Eva Mae Mahan on 24 June 1926. Herman Jack Bagwell lived in 1973 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He died on 8 March 1990 at age 84. He was buried at Saint Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana.

     Eva Mae Mahan was born on 23 April 1907 in Alabama. Her married name was Bagwell. She married Herman Jack Bagwell, son of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn, on 24 June 1926. Eva Mae Mahan died on 21 February 2001 in Louisiana at age 93. She was buried at Saint Bernard Memorial Gardens, Chalmette, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana.

     Ida Leone Bagwell was born on 24 October 1906 in Alabama.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn. As of 22 October 1927,her married name was Kizzire.² As of 22 October 1927,her married name was Kazzar. Ida Leone Bagwell married John Loyd Kizzire on 22 October 1927 at Fayette County, Alabama.² Ida Leone Bagwell died on 27 June 1988 at age 81.²

     John Loyd Kizzire was also known as Loyd Kazzar. He was born on 19 May 1898.¹ He married Ida Leone Bagwell, daughter of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn, on 22 October 1927 at Fayette County, Alabama.¹ John Loyd Kizzire died on 24 October 1973 at age 75.¹

     Olen C. Bagwell was born on 1 January 1910 in Alabama.^1,2 He was the son of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn. He enlisted circa February 1941.

He served with a Quartermaster Truck Company in the China-Burma-India theater. His outfit was stationed at the western terminus of the "over the hump" air supply route to China.¹ Olen C.      Willie Hortense Bagwell was also known as Hortense Bagwell.¹ She was born on 6 January 1911 in Alabama.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jackson Randolph Bagwell and Lonia Edetta Dunn. Her married name was Willingham. Willie Hortense Bagwell married John Willingham. Willie Hortense Bagwell died on 21 May 2004 at age 93.² She was buried at Berry City Cemetery, Berry, Fayette County, Alabama.²
