DECATUR — Mary Ann Reid, 85 of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Mary had been living at Imboden Creek Gardens Assisted Living in Decatur, IL, since April. She was born on June 11, 1927 in Diehlstadt, MO, a daughter to the late Terry and Lila (Norman) Bagwell.

Mary Ann was a member of Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City, IL. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State in 1949. On August 14, 1949, she married George "Lee" Reid Jr., the love of her life in Charleston, MO., and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2012. Mary Ann retired from Granite City School District as a 5th grade teacher after many years of service. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid photographer; her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and parents.

Mary Ann is survived by her three loving children, Terry (Ron) Grant of Decatur, IL, Deborah (Mark) Karr of Crestwood, MO and David Reid of Troy, IL; eight wonderful grandchildren, Ty Douglass, Ryan Reid, Matt Mansfield, Tony Douglass, Patrick Reid, Chris Douglass, Tyler Reid and Jivan Harbian; seven adoring great grandchildren, Logan Reid, Aly Douglass, Emma Douglass, Austin Harbian, Reid Douglass, James Douglass and Lola Douglass; one loving sister, Sue (Earl) Miller of Charleston, MO.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd. Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Irwin Chapel with Rev. Tim Pate officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.

The Reid family would like to thank the Imboden Creek Gardens Staff and the nursing staff of the cardiovascular unit at D.M.H. for the dignity and care they shown to our mother.

Oscar Judson Bagwell died on 8 May 1961 in Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona, at age 82 of stomach cancer that had metastasis to the pancreas and liver.¹ He was buried on 12 May 1961 at Calvary Memorial Park, Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona.¹

     Mary Saphronia Cope was born in April 1880 in Coleman County, Texas.¹ She married Oscar Judson Bagwell, son of Huey Artemus Bagwell and Lula Lucy Saxon, on 19 January 1900 at Sterling City, Sterling County, Texas. As of 19 January 1900,her married name was Bagwell. Mary Saphronia Cope died in October 1966 at age 86.¹ She was buried at Calvary Memorial Park, Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona.¹

     Clay Raymond Bagwell was born on 4 February 1910 in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas. He was the son of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. Clay Raymond Bagwell married Beatrice Gattegno after 1925.¹ Clay Raymond Bagwell married Cecil Kyle on 2 September 1938 at Crittenden County, Arkansas. Veteran of US Navy. Clay Raymond Bagwell died in May 1977 in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, at age 67. He was buried at Calvary Memorial Park, Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona.²

     Edward Jay Bagwell was born on 24 June 1917 in Marathon County, Texas. He was the son of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. He was a Captain in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War (O47269). Edward Jay Bagwell married Charlotte Garner Gaskins on 4 September 1943 at Travis County, Texas. Edward Jay Bagwell died on 29 September 2002 in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, at age 85. He was buried at Fort Bayard National Cemetery, Fort Bayard, Grant County, New Mexico.

     Percy Cope Bagwell was born on 31 October 1903 in Sterling City, Texas. He was the son of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. Percy Cope Bagwell married Glada Fae Runnion before 1925. Percy Cope Bagwell married Mae Isa Craig on 3 August 1934 at Bernalillo, New Mexico. Percy Cope Bagwell died on 20 October 1985 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at age 81. He was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.

     John Burton Bagwell was also known as J. B. Bagwell. He was born on 19 June 1912 in Marathon, Brewster County, Texas. He was the son of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. John Burton Bagwell married Marion L. Abbott circa 1933. John Burton Bagwell died on 11 June 1994 in La Luz, Otero County, New Mexico, at age 81.

     Lillian May Bagwell was born on 29 October 1901 in Sterling County, Texas.¹ She was the daughter of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. As of after 1905,her married name was Dickson.² Lillian May Bagwell married Roy Elmo Dickson after 1905.² Lillian May Bagwell died in 1985.¹ She was buried at Julia Page Memorial Park, Douglas, Cochise County, Arizona.¹

     Merle Janet Bagwell was born on 19 April 1903 in Texas. She was the daughter of Oscar Judson Bagwell and Mary Saphronia Cope. Merle Janet Bagwell married Jay O. Dean after 1917. As of after 1917,her married name was Dean. Merle Janet Bagwell died on 28 May 1990 in California at age 87.

As of 31 December 1926,her married name was Gillis. Lucy Preshea Bagwell married Carlos Edward Gillis on 31 December 1926 at El Paso, Texas.      Melvin Llary Bagwell was also known as Milburn Bagwell.¹ He was born on 2 February 1887 in Heltonville, Lawrence County, Indiana. The 1900 Census lists his birth year as Feb 1888.^1,3,2,4,5 He was the son of James A. Bagwell. James Allen Bagwell was Melvin Llary Bagwell's foster-father. At this time. I can't determine from James Allen Bagwell's brothers or sisters as to whom his biological parents were. He was in James' home as early as 1900 and listed in James' obituary as his foster-son when other nephews and neices were not named. Melvin Llary Bagwell lived in 1900 in Owen, Jackson County, Indiana, in the household of James Bagwell. Melvin Llary is listed as James Bagwell's nephew..¹ He married Bessie Sutton on 17 May 1906 at Jackson County, Indiana.² Melvin Llary Bagwell married Esther M.
