In the case of the state vs. Willis Bagwell and his two sons who are charged in Douglas Superior Court with the murder of Mary Bagwell, eighteen years ago, the state counsel continued the case. The defendants, we learn, were all present and ready for trial and were disappointed in not getting a verdict of acquittal at this term of the court. Their counsel here, Messrs. The case of the state vs. Willis Bagwell and his two sons who were charged with the murder of Mary Bagwell, who disappeared about 18 years ago, and whose bones were supposed to be found in an old copper shaft near Villa Rica last year, came up in Douglas Superior Court for trial last week. Solicitor General Reed announced that there was no evidence against the defendants and that it was impossible for him to even give a circumstance to show their guilt, and he did examine all the evidence submitted on the trial before the coroner's jury, and had examined the principal witnesses for the state personally and thoroughly, and that the state had utterly failed to elicit any fact or source by which he might be able to make out even a probable case. The defendants objected to this, stating they wanted a trial to be had and the facts made public, so that the county might know how groundless the charges were. The nol pros was allowed and it is thought that this much ado about nothing case was dead. He died on 7 October 1896 in Georgia at age 82.¹ He was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia.¹

Bagwell and Emily Sheats.¹ He served in the First Georgia Cavalry in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private in Company E. in March 1864 in Van Wert, Georgia by Colonel Davitte. He was wounded in action and captured at Mt. Peasant, TN on September 4, 1864. He was admitted to Way Hospital at Meridian, Mississippi. He was wounded in battle again on January 13, 1865. He surrended in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 26, 1865.      John Oscar Bagwell was born on 19 October 1876 in Villa Rica, Georgia.¹ He was the son of Wiley Hixon Bagwell and Amelia L. Turner.¹ He was the founder and served as the president for 15 years of the Bagwell Business College (I believe in Carroll County, Georgia). John Oscar Bagwell married Daisy Etta Eckert on 29 April 1913. John Oscar Bagwell died on 23 February 1919 in St. Margaret's Hospital, Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama, at age 42 of pneumonia following influenza.¹ He was buried on 25 February 1919 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia.¹

     Howard Charles Bagwell was born on 9 June 1900 in Georgia.^1,2 He was the son of William Thomas Bagwell and Ola Estelle Hixon.^1,2 Howard Charles Bagwell married Mary Louise Chandler after 1920. Howard Charles Bagwell died on 10 April 1971 in Baldwin County, Georgia, at age 70.¹ He was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia.¹

     Lenora Green also went by the name of Nora Green. Lenora Green was also known as Lenora 'Nora' Green. She was born on 5 November 1861 in Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Alexander Porter Green.² As of 4 March 1880,her married name was Bagwell. Lenora Green married Ahaz Boggas Bagwell, son of Willis B. Bagwell and Emily Sheats, on 4 March 1880. Lenora Green died on 11 December 1888 in Carroll County, Georgia, at age 27. She died on 11 December 1888 at age 27.¹ She was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia.¹

     Ahaz Boggas Bagwell was also known as Ahas B. Bagwell.¹ He was born on 17 May 1857 in Carroll County, Georgia.² He was the son of Willis B. Bagwell and Emily Sheats. Ahaz Boggas Bagwell married Lenora Green, daughter of Alexander Porter Green, on 4 March 1880. Ahaz Boggas Bagwell married Sallie Jack Conner on 5 June 1894. Ahaz Boggas Bagwell died on 20 December 1934 in Villa Rica, Carroll County, Georgia, at age 77.² He was buried on 21 December 1934 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, Georgia.²
