Leon Leonard Bagwell of Gatesville died Saturday, April 13. He was 71.
Services were held Monday at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Dyer pfficiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Bagwell was born March 24, 1920, in Kemp, the son of the late Wooster and Myrtle Bagwell. He was reared and attended school in Kemp, and married the former Miss Nita Heath November 7, 1942, in Bellmead.
He entered the United States Army Air Corp during World War II where he served as an Aerial Gunner. He was heavily decorated during the war and was credited for destroying two enemy aircraft.
He returned to Crawford and worked for North American Rockwell for 25 years, retiring from there in 1980. He worked for HUD in Gatesville from 1981-82.
He and his wife moved to Gatesville in 1954.
He was an avid horse trader, and had worked on ranches in West Texas. , Mr. Bagwell was an exhibition saddle bronc rider and a bull rider.
He helped build the rock wall entrance at Restland Cemetery and the rock wall at the Gatesville State School for Boys.
He was a member of the Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lynn Bagwell and Tony Bagwell, both of Gatesville, and Warren Lee Brown of Huntsville; one daughter, Deborah Bagwell of Gatesville; two sisters, Lorena Wood of Ballinger and Ricia Beaver of Big Lake; a brother, Edgar Bagwell of Robert Lee; 10 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bill Sexton, Ronnie Cole, Larry Jander, Rick Wyrick, M.C. Evetts, Bob Matthews, Heck Williams and Bill Ramsey.

Deborah Eleene Bagwell married Christopher L. Wilson on 24 August 1974 at Coryell, Texas. Deborah Eleene Bagwell died on 19 April 2005 at age 58 Deborah Eleene Bagwell, 58, of Gatesville, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at a local hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kurt Fuessel officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Deborah was born September 17, 1946, at San Angelo, Texas, in Tom Green County. She was the daughter of Juanita Heath Bagwell and the late Leon Bagwell. Miss Bagwell graduated from Gatesville High School in 1965. She had lived with her mother and daddy all her life, and was a member of Mountain Baptist Church in Gatesville since 1955.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Bagwell.
Survivors include her mother, Juanita Heath Bagwell; brothers, Warren Lee Brown, Lynn Bagwell and Tony Bagwell; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Cole, Robert Morrison, Vern Timmons, Richard Bishop, J.W. Featherston, Gill Tatsch and Buddy Sheets.1,2 She was buried at Restland Cemetery, Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas.2
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kurt Fuessel officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 N. 12th Street with Reverend Paul Matta officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradshaw Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bagwell was born May 14, 1932, in Winters, Texas to the late Luther and Hattie Albright Bagwell. She was a wonderful mother and enjoyed being a foster grandparent for the State School. Retta was always there for her children, and will be missed greatly.
Survivors include one son, Arnold Clary and wife Cynthia of Lufkin; one daughter, Becky Wilson of Abilene; two brothers, Lewis Bagwell of Potosi, and Charles Bagwell of Godley; two sisters, Margaret Zumwalt, and Patsy Taylor, both of Abilene; six grandchildren, Trisha Gayle, Arnold Ray, Jr., Heather Suzanne, Jodale Thomas, Billy Don, and Michael; seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jerry Wayne, Joe, Jack, and Richard Bagwell, and two sisters, Lois Bagwell, and Marie Love.
