Vause Vause on 20 March 1851 at Cherokee County, Georgia. Christiana F. Bagwell and Thomas W. Vause Vause lived in 1900 in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi.

     John Bird Bagwell was also known as Bird Bagwell.¹ He was born on 1 August 1837 in South Carolina.¹ He was the son of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw.¹ John Bird Bagwell appeared on the 1850 United States Federal Census for Division 15, Cherokee County, Georgia, enumerated on 13 October 1850.¹ He died on 15 March 1917 at age 79.      Josiah Patillo Bagwell was born on 11 July 1843 in Cherokee County, Georgia.^1,2,3 He was the son of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw.^1,2 Josiah Patillo Bagwell appeared on the 1850 United States Federal Census for Division 15, Cherokee County, Georgia, enumerated on 13 October 1850.¹ He enlisted on 5 April 1862 in Company E, 36th Regiment, Georgia Infantry (Broyles') as a 3rd Sergeant in the Confederate States of America. He married Mary Catherine Sperin, daughter of Nicholas Sperin and Elizabeth Gilbert, on 30 January 1868 at Cherokee County, Georgia.² Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin lived in 1900 in Civil District 5, Bradley County, Tennessee. Josiah Patillo Bagwell died on 31 December 1918 in Tennessee at age 75.^2,3 He was buried at Spring Place Cemetery, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.³

     John Calvin Bagwell was born on 24 August 1824 in South Carolina.^1,2 He was the son of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw.¹ John Calvin Bagwell married Mary Elizabeth Staten, daughter of George Washington Staten, in 1851 at Pontotoc, Mississippi. John Calvin Bagwell died on 22 January 1901 in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, at age 76.² He was buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.²

     Mary Elizabeth Staten was born on 6 December 1831 in Tennessee.¹ She was the daughter of George Washington Staten. Mary Elizabeth Staten married John Calvin Bagwell, son of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw, in 1851 at Pontotoc, Mississippi. Mary Elizabeth Staten died on 18 December 1910 in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, at age 79.¹ She was buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.¹

     George Washington Staten was born in 1812 in Tennessee. He died in 1880 in Pontotoc, Mississippi.

     John Washington Bagwell was born circa 1851 in Mississippi. He was the son of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. John Washington Bagwell lived in 1860 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. He lived in 1870 in Township 11, Pontotoc County, Mississippi. He lived in 1880 in Monroe County, Mississippi.

     James Paylor Bagwell was born on 22 November 1854 in Mississippi.¹ He was the son of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. James Paylor Bagwell married Alma Frances Staten after 1875.² James Paylor Bagwell died on 9 December 1942 in Old Houlka, Chickasaw County, Mississippi, at age 88 Obit:

J.P Bagwell well known and beloved citizen of Pontotoc and Chickasaw counties passed away Wednesday Dec 9 at 2 o'clock a.m. at the home of his daughter Mrs. J.J. Munlin of Houlka MS. He was born Nov 22 1855.
Mr Bagwell was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for many years. He was a faithful member in his younger days, but has been in bad health for several years and seriously sick for the past two. He will be greatly missed by relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were: Tom Buchanan, Black Gordon, Dewey Gordon, JN Bryant, Loyd Collums.
Funeral services were held at Oak Forrest Cemetery conducted by Rev. RM Holloway and Rev. JW Henry.
Surviving Mr. Bagwell are his children, RE Bagwell, Itha Bagwell, Gilbert Bagwell, Oliver Bagwell, JW Bagwell, Sam Bagwell, Aretemous Bagwell, daughters Mrs. TJ Mulin, and Georgia Dodson. 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren four sisters, Saranah Ferguson, Mrs. BF Lowry, Mrs. Joe Gammell and Mrs.BE Holloday. Also a host of nieces and nephews survive.¹ He was buried at Oak Forest Cemetery, Randolph, Pontotoc County, Mississippi.¹

     Mary Jane Bagwell was born circa 1856 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. Mary Jane Bagwell died after 1880 in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.

     Josiah Edgar Bagwell was also known as Joe Bagwell. He was born in June 1859 in Mississippi. He was the son of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. Josiah Edgar Bagwell married Mary Eliza Thrailkill circa 1885. Josiah Edgar Bagwell died in 1941. He was buried at Lebanon Cemtery, Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.

     Nancy Bagwell was born in 1866 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. As of 16 November 1885,her married name was Manasco. Nancy Bagwell married John William Manasco on 16 November 1885 at Monroe County, Mississippi. Nancy Bagwell died in 1893 in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi. She was buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.

     Mary Frances Bagwell was also known as Fannie Ann Bagwell.¹ She was born on 17 March 1867 in Mississippi.¹ She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. As of 14 January 1891,her married name was Holiday. Mary Frances Bagwell married Ben Edd Holladay on 14 January 1891. Mary Frances Bagwell died on 30 December 1945 in Monroe County, Mississippi, at age 78.¹ She was buried at Lebanon Cemetery, Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.¹

     Ollie C. Bagwell was born on 10 March 1875 in Pontoc County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. As of 21 December 1895,her married name was Gammill. Ollie C. Bagwell married Joesph Merrian Gammill on 21 December 1895 at Monroe County, Mississippi. Ollie C. Bagwell died on 28 July 1967 at age 92. She was buried at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery, Arberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.

     Minnie Bagwell was born in December 1878 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten. Minnie Bagwell married Ben F. Lower on 9 January 1899. Minnie Bagwell died after 1940 in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi.

     Savannah Eldrado Bagwell was born on 26 August 1861 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.¹ She was the daughter of John Calvin Bagwell and Mary Elizabeth Staten.¹ Savannah Eldrado Bagwell married Bailey Franklin Ferguson, son of James Robert Ferguson and Harriett Salina Freemen, on 19 September 1890 at Pontotoc County, Mississippi.² Savannah Eldrado Bagwell died on 26 December 1951 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, at age 90.¹ She was buried at Oak Forest Cemetery, Randolph, Pontotoc County, Mississippi.¹

     Thomas W. Vause Vause was born in August 1823 in North Carolina. He married Christiana F. Bagwell, daughter of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw, on 20 March 1851 at Cherokee County, Georgia. Thomas W. Vause Vause and Christiana F. Bagwell lived in 1900 in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi.

     Mary Catherine Sperin was born on 31 December 1843 in Cherokee County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Nicholas Sperin and Elizabeth Gilbert.¹ As of 30 January 1868,her married name was Bagwell.¹ Mary Catherine Sperin married Josiah Patillo Bagwell, son of John J. Bagwell and Elizabeth Rakestraw, on 30 January 1868 at Cherokee County, Georgia.¹ Mary Catherine Sperin and Josiah Patillo Bagwell lived in 1900 in Civil District 5, Bradley County, Tennessee. Mary Catherine Sperin died on 26 December 1914 in Tennessee at age 70. She was buried at Spring Place Cemetery, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.

     Dr. Lafayette Patillo Bagwell was born on 15 January 1869 in Pickens County, Georgia. He was the son of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. Dr. Lafayette Patillo Bagwell married Nancy Looper after 1885. Dr. Lafayette Patillo Bagwell died on 10 May 1899 at age 30 when his home in Spring Place caught fire. He was buried at Spring Place Cemetery, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.

     Theodosia Elizabeth Bagwell was born on 9 April 1871 in Pickens County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. As of circa 1910,her married name was Lowery. Theodosia Elizabeth Bagwell married William Mercer Lowery circa 1910. Theodosia Elizabeth Bagwell died on 7 May 1944 in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee, at age 73. She was buried at Spring Place Cemetery, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.

     Dr. Barnum William Bagwell was born in 1874 in Pickens County, Georgia.² He was the son of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. Dr. Barnum William Bagwell married Sarah J. Ingram on 12 January 1896 at Cherokee County, Georgia. Dr. Barnum William Bagwell and Sarah J. Ingram lived in 1920 in Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee. Dr. Barnum William Bagwell died in 1953 in Madisonville, Monore County, Tennessee.² He was buried at Sunset Cemetery, Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee.²

     Alice Ava Bagwell was born in January 1876 in Pickens County, Georgia.¹ She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. As of 2 January 1890,her married name was Holbert.² Alice Ava Bagwell married Hiram Marion Holbert on 2 January 1890 at Bradley County, Tennessee.² As of 1907,her married name was Spence.³ Alice Ava Bagwell married Levi Lafayette Spence in 1907.³ Alice Ava Bagwell died in May 1960 in Duval County, Florida, at age 84 Alice was one of eight children of Mary Catherine Sperin and Josiah Bagwell. Her siblings included: Lafayette Patillo, Theodocia E, Barnum, Lucy B, Minerva J, Mary, and Christina.

She appeared with her parents and siblings in the 1880 Federal Census of Dug Road, Pickens County, Georgia. The household included: Josiah Bagwell, age 36, born in Georgia to parents from South Carolina, a farmer; Mary C, age 36, born in Georgia to a father from Ireland and a mother from Georgia; Lafatte P, age 11, born in Georgia to parents from Georgia; Theodocia E, age 9; Barnum, age 7; Alice A, age 5; Lucy B, age 2; and a female infant born March 1880.

Alice Bagwell married H M Holbert on January 2, 1898 in Bradley County, Tennessee. In 1900, her parents and siblings were living in Bradley County, Tennessee. Her parents had been married 31 years and had seven living children of eight born. Alice lost her husband in 1900 and her daughter Winnie Mae. She appears in the 1900 Federal Census of Ball Ground, Cherokee County, Georgia with her children and father-in-law. The household included: Alice A Holbert, age 24, born January 1876, widowed, born in Georgia to parents from Georgia; Henry G, age 1, born October 1898 in Georgia; Winnie W, age 6/12, born November 1899 in Georgia; and Jacob Holbert, age 74, born March 1826 in North Carolina to parents from North Carolina, a farmer who owns his farm.

In 1907, she married Levi L Spence and by 1910, she and Levi had a two year old son. They appeared in the 1910 Federal Census of Ball Ground, Cherokee County, Georgia. Their household included: Levi L Spence, age 53, married twice, currently for three years, born in Georgia to a father from Georgia and a mother from South Carolina, a post master; Alice A, age 33, married twice, currently for three years, two living children of three born, assistant post mistress; Grady, age 11; and Hermon J, age 2.

Alice was appointed postmaster of Ball Ground on February 20, 1922. Her husband had served as postmaster since 1907. Alice served until June 1926.

Alice remained in Ball Ground until the 1940's. In 1940, she was living there with her 32 year old son, Herman J Spence, who was a lawyer in private practice. By 1945, she and her son Herman and his wife were living in Pinellas County, Florida.¹ She was buried at H. Warren Smith Memorial Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach, Duval County, Florida.¹

     Lucy Belle Bagwell was born in April 1878 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. As of before 1903,her married name was Boone. Lucy Belle Bagwell married George McClellan Boone before 1903. Lucy Belle Bagwell died on 10 May 1905 at age 27. She was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Bradley County, Tennessee.

     Minerva Jane Bagwell was born on 7 March 1880 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. Minerva Jane Bagwell died on 20 December 1941 at age 61. She was buried at Spring Place Cemetery, Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia.

     Mary Sophrenia Bagwell was born on 1 February 1882 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. Mary Sophrenia Bagwell died on 3 February 1962 at age 80.

     Christina Bagwell was born in April 1884 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin. As of 23 September 1908,her married name was Prince. Christina Bagwell married William Albert Prince on 23 September 1908 at Blue Springs, Tennessee. Christina Bagwell died on 21 November 1920 in Fulton County, Georgia, at age 36.

     Rebecca (?) was born circa 1785 in South Carolina. She appeared on the 1850 United States Federal Census for Division 15, Cherokee County, Georgia, enumerated on 13 October 1850.¹

     Sarah J. Ingram was also known as Sallie Ingram. She was born in 1878 in Georgia.¹ She married Dr. Barnum William Bagwell, son of Josiah Patillo Bagwell and Mary Catherine Sperin, on 12 January 1896 at Cherokee County, Georgia. Sarah J. Ingram and Dr. Barnum William Bagwell lived in 1920 in Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee. Sarah J. Ingram died on 6 December 1943 in Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee.¹ She was buried at Sunset Cemetery, Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee.¹

     Dr. Troy P. Bagwell was born on 12 March 1902 in Georgia.¹ He was the son of Dr. Barnum William Bagwell and Sarah J. Ingram. Dr. Troy P. Bagwell married Ann Eliza Mantooth.² Dr. Troy P. Bagwell died on 10 March 1980 at age 77.¹ He was buried at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens, Madisonville, Monroe County, Tennessee.¹

     Charles Herman Bagwell was born on 5 August 1909 in Tennessee.¹ He was the son of Dr. Barnum William Bagwell and Sarah J. Ingram. Charles Herman Bagwell married Jeanette Kennedy before 1928. Charles Herman Bagwell died on 22 September 1998 in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, at age 89.¹ He was buried at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.¹
