     Arlis Roy Bagwell was born on 13 August 1923.1 He was the son of Rufus Elmo Bagwell and Linda Rachel Johnson. Arlis Roy Bagwell married Virginia Motee Patterson in 1947. Arlis Roy Bagwell died on 4 April 2011 at age 87 NEW ALBANY - Arlis Roy Bagwell, 87, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Magnolia Place in New Albany. He was born August 13, 1923, in Pontotoc County to Rufus Elmo Bagwell and Rachel Linder Johnson Bagwell. He served in WWII in the Army as a military policeman in India, Africa, Tinian Island and in the Western Pacific Campaign. He was an artist, a trapper, an antique dealer, a farmer and a sawmill owner and operator. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pontotoc.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Tutor Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Robert Weldon, Bro. Jody Rock and Bro. Ronnie Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Oak Forest Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia Motee Patterson Bagwell; one son, Kelly (Donna) Bagwell; three daughters, Wilda Weldon (Bro. Robert) of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Neva Nolley (Gerald) of Poolville and Denita Sneed (Harold) of Pontotoc; one brother, Carrel (Louise) Bagwell of Pontotoc; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rufus Elmo Bagwell; his mother, Rachel Linder Johnson Bagwell; three brothers, William, Albert and Edward, all of Pontotoc; and three sisters, Leoan Bagwell, Alma Watts and Mamie Pennington, all of Pontotoc.

Pallbearers will be Balford Patterson, Ricky Bagwell, Billy Bagwell, Michael Watts, Gary Morman and Barry Bagwell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carrel Bagwell, Dexter Pennington and Noel Watts.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

PONTOTOC – Carroll Welton Bagwell, 85, passed away at Memphis V.A. Medical Center in Memphis. He was born to Elmo and Linder Johnson Bagwell on Sept. 9, 1928, in Pontotoc. He married Sarah Louise Hood Bagwell on Nov. 14, 1955. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer and a wonderful dad.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Inmon and Bro. Bradley Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves behind his wife, Louise Bagwell; one son, Barry (Lisa) Bagwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cordie W. Bagwell, age 89, died Tuesday, March 26 1991 at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. Browning Funeral Home, Pontotoc, was in charge of services which were held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Houlka, with the Rev. Bobby Long officiating.

The daughter of Jack Westmoreland and Salitta Rae, she was born in Pontotoc County and lived most of her life in Chickasaw County. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Opal Bynum and Lovis Holladay, both of Houlka; five grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers were her grandson, David Cothran, Brian Cothran, Jamie Holladay, Jeremy Holladay, Scott Lovelace and Wesley Lovelace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Verl Lynn Bagwell, a great-grandson, Mason Gregory, and three brothers.Bearers are Kevin Spencer, Kimberly Kimmel, Maegan Gregory, Jeremy Bagwell, Jerrell Bagwell Jr., and Joe Bagwell.
