He is survived by his wife, Bettie Bagwell; son Bruce Bagwell, both of Buna; daughter, Teresa Riser of Freeport, LA; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his mother, Eva Bagwell of Winn Parish; brothers, -- Bagwell of Sulphur, LA, and Ray Bagwell of Goldana, LA; sister, Bettie Jean Haynes of Saline, LA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Born Friday, October 19, 1928 in Brewton's Mill, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Clarence W. Bagwell and the late Eva V. Durbin Bagwell. He was also preceded in death by his daughters-in-law, Karen Bagwell and Cindy Bagwell, and brother, Buford Bagwell.

Mr. Bagwell retired from Gulf States Utilities with 39 years of Service. He was a member of Antioch Community Church where he served as the Church Board President. Mr. Bagwell was a member of the Saline Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He lived on and loved Saline Lake, where he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Mable Brewton Bagwell of Winnfield, LA, sons, Richard Bagwell and wife Gail of Winnfield, LA and Larry Bagwell of Winnfield, LA, brother, Melvin Bagwell, sister, Betty Bagwell Haynes; 5 grand children, Damon Bagwell of Sulphur, LA, Heather Bagwell Watson of Sulpher, LA, Heath Bagwell of Winnfield, LA, Amy McDonald of Sulphur, LA, and Melanie Fruge of Kathleen, GA; 9 great grand children, Allison, Bryce, and Kylie Watson; Jacob, Courtney, and Joel Fruge; Mason, Andi, and Avery McDonald..

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Antioch Community Church with the Rev. Hayward Hossler and Rev. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Damon Bagwell, Heath Bagwell, Steve Brewton, Jonathan Brewton, Ernest Kennedy, and Mark Abel will serve as pallbearers. He was buried at Antioch Community Cemetery, Winn Parish, Louisiana.

Donald C. Bagwell was born January 7, 1921 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma the son of William Roy and Ethel Ora (Smith) Bagwell. Don walked into the presence of Jesus on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 88 years of age.

Don was a 1939 graduate of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II as a Seabee in the Pacific theater and the Philippines. He married the former Miss Artie Mae Lawson on June 29, 1940 in Wagoner, Oklahoma. They spent 38 wonderful years together and enjoyed the home that Don built for them before Artie Mae preceded him in death. Don was a carpenter for 30 years at American Airlines before retiring in 1981. After retirement, he enjoyed building a second home in Alamo, Texas becoming a Winter Texan. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and traveling. When asked what was his favorite trip, he replied Visiting Point Barrow, Alaska. He diligently served his Lord as a Baptist deacon for over 50 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. To those that knew him he will be remembered for the strength that was shown through his hands.

She worked for Champion for many years. She loved being at home with J.C.
