There is a family story about General Abner killing James Wiley Bagwell's brother-in-law, Robert Daves or Robert Davis and then going to Arkansas to live.3 He died on 27 December 1945 in Mena, Polk County, Arkansas, at age 87.2 He was buried at Owens Chapel Cemetery, Acorn, Polk County, Arkansas.2
