     He served in the US Navy during World War II. Clee Brooks Johnson was born on 5 December 1926 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He married Annette Erdine Bagwell, daughter of Edgar Bryant Bagwell and Vivian Grace Holder, after 1945. Clee Brooks Johnson died on 2 November 2000 at age 73. He was buried at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Memorials, Clayton, Johnston County, North Carolina.

     Anne Hasseltine Shipman was born circa 1916. As of 12 October 1940,her married name was Bagwell. She married Larry Edward Bagwell, son of Walter Lee Bagwell and Jessie Leona Wall, on 12 October 1940 at Henderson County, North Carolina. Anne Hasseltine Shipman was buried at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery, Henderson County, North Carolina. She died on 11 April 2006.

     Larry Edward Bagwell Jr. was born on 24 September 1944 in Henderson County, North Carolina. He was the son of Larry Edward Bagwell and Anne Hasseltine Shipman. Larry Edward Bagwell Jr. married Ellen Christina Agesen in August 1966 at Duval County, Florida. Larry Edward Bagwell Jr. married Belva Carole Cole on 18 August 1973 at Carrollton, Georgia. Larry Edward Bagwell Jr. lived circa 1979 in Brevard, North Carolina. As of 2019 retired chairman, president and CEO of Rea Magnet Wire Inc. He currently serves as director of the Rea board. Rea is the largest magnet wire manufacturer in North America and is based in Fort Wayne. Bagwell also served on the Parkview Hospital board of directors and is a member of the Parkview Health Group Audit Committee, both in Fort Wayne. He earned his bachelor's degree from the General Motors Institute and a master's degree from Purdue in 1969. He died on 4 March 2020 at age 75


Larry Edward Bagwell, Jr., (Eddie) was born in Raleigh, NC, on September 24, 1944 and passed away March 4, 2020, after enduring a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Edward Bagwell, Sr. and Hasseltine Shipman Bagwell.

The oldest of three children, Eddie is survived by his brother, Ronnie Rucker Bagwell (wife, Arlene) and sister, Jill Bagwell (McDaniel) Kirby (husband, Ken), all of Raleigh, NC. Although Eddie did not have children of his own having been married in his younger years, he is also survived by his two nieces, Courtney McDaniel Farfour (Patrick and sons, Wells and Emerson) of Raleigh, NC, and Sydney McDaniel Jamison (Rob and children Drew, Mary Wyndham and Charlie), of Raleigh, NC; and niece, Michelle B. Mosher of Delmar Maryland (children, Mackenzie, Jensen and Savannah), all of whom he loved very much.

Eddie graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1966, earning his B.A. degree in history. He was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity where he made many lifetime friends. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Coastguard Reserves. He went to work with New England Mutual and Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co.

Eddie enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, especially UNC basketball. He was a long-time member of the Raleigh Downtown Lions Club. He also enjoyed his church family at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church where he was a member since he was six years old. Eddie was very kind to others and would "give you his shirt off his back" to help you out. His participation in Danny Lotz' bible study was very meaningful to him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh, NC 27608, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. The family will have a private interment at a later date at Bagwell Cemetery.

     Wheeler Beason Glenn married Emma Ophelia Mae Bagwell, daughter of Clayton Alexander Bagwell and Eula Viola Ogletree, on 10 July 1940 at Jefferson County, Alabama.

     Arthur S. Porter and Emma Ophelia Mae Bagwell were divorced in 1953 at Leon County, Florida. Arthur S. Porter married Emma Ophelia Mae Bagwell, daughter of Clayton Alexander Bagwell and Eula Viola Ogletree, on 1 March 1953 at Marion County, Alabama.

     David Evans married Emma Ophelia Mae Bagwell, daughter of Clayton Alexander Bagwell and Eula Viola Ogletree, on 14 May 1924 at West End, Jefferson County, Alabama.

     Helen (?) married Reid Mcentire Dickey on 30 November 1973 at Forsyth County, North Carolina. Helen (?) and Reid Mcentire Dickey were divorced on 16 January 1984 at Forsyth County, North Carolina.

     Guy Homer Bagwell was born on 5 April 1900. He was the son of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell. Guy Homer Bagwell married Lois Annie Sackrider on 21 September 1925 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Guy Homer Bagwell died on 9 May 1965 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 65.

     Myrtle Irene Bagwell was born in January 1899 in Alabama. She was the daughter of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell. As of 22 May 1920,her married name was Graham. Myrtle Irene Bagwell married John C. Graham on 22 May 1920 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Myrtle Irene Bagwell died in 1974.

     John C. Graham married Myrtle Irene Bagwell, daughter of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell, on 22 May 1920 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.

     Katherine Gladys Bagwell was also known as Kathrine Montgomery Bagwell. Katherine Gladys Bagwell was also known as Gladys Katherine Bagwell. She was born on 25 March 1909. She was the daughter of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell. As of 14 September 1927,her married name was Montgomery. Katherine Gladys Bagwell married David Huston Montgomery on 14 September 1927 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. As of after 1930,her married name was White. Katherine Gladys Bagwell married Edgar A. White after 1930. Katherine Gladys Bagwell died on 9 November 1957 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 48. She was buried at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.

     David Huston Montgomery married Katherine Gladys Bagwell, daughter of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell, on 14 September 1927 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.

     Lois Annie Sackrider was born on 28 April 1906 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. As of 21 September 1925,her married name was Bagwell. She married Guy Homer Bagwell, son of Albert L. Bagwell and Nancy Jo Bagwell, on 21 September 1925 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Lois Annie Sackrider died in June 1978 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, at age 72.

     Charlie D. Dunlap was born on 27 February 1878. He married Mattie James Bagwell, daughter of Henry Clay Harrison Bagwell and Emma Ophelia Blackstock, on 10 October 1912 at Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Charlie D. Dunlap died on 22 June 1951 at age 73. He was buried at Bethlehem East Cemetery, Hanceville, Cullman County, Alabama.

     Oscar Ernest Lackmond was born on 30 November 1887 in Alabama. He married Onzelle Rovella Bagwell, daughter of Henry Clay Harrison Bagwell and Emma Ophelia Blackstock, on 8 September 1914 at Jefferson County, Alabama. Oscar Ernest Lackmond died on 15 November 1958 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, at age 70. He was buried on 18 November 1958 at Hillside Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, Roslyn, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

     Lynn (?) married Terry Bagwell, son of Garland Ashley Bagwell and Eleanor R. McMillin, before 1973.

     Dr. James Emmett "Jimmy" Bagwell was born on 16 March 1941 in Plains, Sumter County, Georgia. He was the son of Henry Taylor Bagwell and Floy Howell. Dr. James Emmett "Jimmy" Bagwell married Cindy (?) after 1961. Dr. James Emmett "Jimmy" Bagwell died on 29 March 2019 in Plains, Sumter County, Georgia, at age 78
Dr. James Emmett "Jimmy" Bagwell passed away on March 29, 2019, at his home in Plains, the same home in which he was born 78 years ago, on March 16, 1941.

Funeral services are planned for 11:00 Monday, April 1, at Plains United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Houston, Rev. R.T. Beverly, and Rev. Jay Barcus officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as active pallbearers: Eugene Edge, Boze Godwin, Ronnie Walton, Bobby Bacon, Bob Moss, Wade Medlock, Roy Young, and Tim Harris.

The family will receive friends on Monday at the church between the hours of 10:00 & 11:00 AM, and at other times at the family residence.

Having received his PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Bagwell was a History Professor who adored his students. He taught for 40 years at Georgia Southwestern State University. He was a member of Plains United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 30 years; and had served on the Plains City Council for 40 years. He especially enjoyed being a "Big Daddy" to his eight grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Bagwell of Plains; one son, Brad Bagwell (Betsy) of Atlanta; one daughter, Victoria Kelley (Travis) of Americus; seven grandsons: Brooks, William & Bradford Bagwell of Atlanta, and Max, Samuel, Howell & Thomas Kelley of Americus; one granddaughter, Anne Louise Bagwell of Atlanta; one nephew, Mill Simmons (Gloria) of Plains; one great-niece, Paige Simmons (Kathy) of Plains; one great-nephew, Rhett Simmons (Jessi) of Americus; one great-great-niece, Milly Simmons of Americus; and family friend & caregiver, Viola (Pearl) Patillo of Plains.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Floy Bagwell; by his sister, Anne Simmons; and brother-in-law, Millard Simmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Plains United Methodist Church, 301 W Church St., Plains, GA 31780.
