Visitation will be at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home Saturday November 5, 2011 from 4-8 PM and Sunday November 6, 2011 from 7:00 AM until the time of service.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday November 6, 2011 at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Rick Alan Bagwell, 69, of Scottsville, KY, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, at his home in Tennessee, surrounded by the family he loved above all else.

Born on January 8, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois, Rick built a life defined by his love for his family, hard work, deep faith, genuine generosity, and an almost alarming devotion to largemouth bass.

In 1990, Rick joined Halton Group, a Finland-based multinational company, where he would spend the next three decades working tirelessly (and extraordinarily effectively) to grow the company’s operations across North, Central, and South America. He traveled the globe, built lasting relationships, and rose from Sales Manager to President of the Americas. Those who worked alongside him knew that Rick didn't just build a business; he built people.

In the fall of 1994, Rick and his family put down roots in Scottsville, Kentucky, and he poured himself into the community with the same energy he brought to everything else. He served on the Allen County School Board, on the Industrial Development Authority, and on the YMCA board. He played a key role in creating the Allen Springs Industrial Park and was a proud member of the Scottsville Rotary Club. To know Rick was to know someone who believed deeply that a community is only as strong as the people willing to show up for it, and Rick always showed up.

His Christian faith was not a Sunday-morning formality but the quiet foundation on which he built his family. Rick was saved and became a follower of Jesus in his childhood. He became a member of Scottsville Baptist Church more than 30 years ago, where he taught Sunday School for several years with the same well-studied, open-hearted enthusiasm he brought to every conversation about God and His grace for us. Rick's faith wasn't something he kept tucked away. The fruits of the Spirit showed up plainly in how he listened, how he loved, how he treated people, and how he raised his family. Faith wasn't just a part of who he was; it was the foundation of all he was and all he built.

When he wasn't working or serving or teaching, Rick could almost certainly be found on the water. He was an avid (some might say evangelical) fisherman, with a particular passion for largemouth bass. He made it his personal mission to introduce himself to as many of them as possible at Barren River Lake, and in his later years turned his attention to Lake Guntersville, where thousands more largemouth bass entered and exited his boat, likely thoroughly confused, but, like everyone who crossed Rick's path, better for the encounter.

Rick was endlessly curious and never quite done learning. He was a vociferous reader, rarely without at least half a dozen books going at once.

Ask those who knew him best what they will remember most, and the answer is likely to be his selflessness, his kindness, the wisdom he offered freely, the counsel he gave without judgment, and, above all, the extraordinary love he showed his family at every turn. Rick was a proud husband, a devoted daddy, and a Poppa who made no secret of the joy his grandchildren brought him. While he was never one for prideful boasting, he freely shared how proud he was of the life he and Donna built together, the women his daughters became, and the young men who were wise enough to marry them. And then there were his grandchildren, about whom he had no reservations whatsoever when it came to boasting.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Donna Edwards Bagwell; his daughters, Nikki Francis (John-Mark) of Scottsville, Kentucky, and Jamie Sims (Derrick) of Huntland, Tennessee; his five precious and completely perfect grandchildren, Adalynn and Ann-Thomas Francis, and Blake, Baylor, and Bo Sims; and his brother, Michael Bagwell (Beverly) of Austin, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.W. "Bob" Bagwell and Janet Ann Bagwell, and his mother-in-law, Morene Southard.

He was buried on 30 June 2026 at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Scottsville, Kentucky.

He was born in August 1845 in Mississippi The 1870 US Census has his year of birth around 1849.^2,3,1 He was the son of Wiley Bagwell and Lucretia York.² Wiley Bagwell lived in 1850 in Western Division, Chickasaw County, Mississippi.² He lived in 1860 in Jimmy's Creek, Marion County, Arkansas. He lived in 1870 in Reeds Creek, Lawrence County, Arkansas.¹ He married Zelcha (?) on 31 July 1876 at Scott County, Arkansas. Wiley Bagwell and Zelcha (?) lived in 1880 in Strawberry, Lawrence County, Arkansas. Wiley Bagwell married Sarah Lingo on 7 May 1899 at Lawrence County, Arkansas. Wiley Bagwell and Sarah Lingo lived in 1910 in Morgan, Lawrence County, Arkansas.⁴ Wiley Bagwell died on 18 August 1922 in Independence, Baxter County, Arkansas, (Possible Death.)

     Zelcha (?) was also known as Lucretia Luke. She was born circa 1836 in Alabama. As of 31 July 1876,her married name was Bagwell. She married Wiley Bagwell, son of Wiley Bagwell and Lucretia York, on 31 July 1876 at Scott County, Arkansas. Zelcha (?) and Wiley Bagwell lived in 1880 in Strawberry, Lawrence County, Arkansas.

     Lucinda Bagwell was born circa 1876 in Arkansas. She was the daughter of Wiley Bagwell and Zelcha (?)

     Ruby Taylor was born on 25 June 1906 in Mississippi. As of circa 1927,her married name was Bagwell. She married Dan Kirk Bagwell, son of Samuel Whitfield Bagwell and Sallie T. Hollis, circa 1927. Ruby Taylor died on 6 December 1984 at age 78. She was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Winston County, Mississippi.

     Dora O'Nelle Bagwell was born on 20 May 1928 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of Dan Kirk Bagwell and Ruby Taylor. Dora O'Nelle Bagwell married William Floyd Coleman after 1945. Dora O'Nelle Bagwell died on 16 July 2006 in Ackerman, Choctaw County, Mississippi, at age 78. She was buried at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Ackerman, Choctaw County, Mississippi.

     Carl Keith Bagwell was born on 20 June 1930 in Weir, Choctaw County, Mississippi.¹ He was the son of Dan Kirk Bagwell and Ruby Taylor. Carl Keith Bagwell married Patricia A. (?) circa 1956. Carl Keith Bagwell died on 3 December 2017 in Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, at age 87
On December 3, 2017, GOD came for him and said, “Come home where you can rest.” Carl was born June 20, 1930, in Weir, Mississippi to the late Dan and Ruby Bagwell. He served in the US Army during the Korean War as a demolition engineer.

Carl has been a resident of Jackson, Mississippi since 1954. He was a hard-working, honest mechanic. He worked on cars for many of the doctors and their families when he was employed at King Brown Auto, Parker Truck Service, and Firestone. He retired from Firestone in 1992.

One of his greatest accomplishments was his beautiful and highly productive vegetable garden on the corner of Woody Drive and McDowell Road in South Jackson, which was admired by everyone.

Carl was a GODLY man who was admired for his humility and quiet strength by all who knew him. He was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Ruby, his brother Charles, and his sister Nell Coleman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat, daughter, Donna Reynolds (and husband Jeff), son Mark (and wife Vivian), sister Danny Parker (and Leo Parker), and brother Covis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shannon Linkous, Kristy Bagwell, Robbie Bagwell, Michael Reynolds (and wife Kayla), and Stephen Reynolds (and wife Laura). His great-grandchildren are Alexa and Hailey Linkous, Ruth and Elijah Reynolds, and Ezekiel Reynolds who is arriving later in December.

Visitation will be 1:00pm until the 2:00pm funeral service, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram. Interment will follow at Parkway Cemetery.¹

Covis Troy Bagwell passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020, at River Place Nursing Home, in Amory, MS. He was 86 years old. Covis was born in Choctaw County, MS, on November 10, 1933, to Dan K. and Ruby(Taylor) Bagwell. He was a retired school teacher where he taught for many years with the Cobb County, GA school system.

Private graveside services will be held at Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Louisville, MS, on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by 1 sister, Danny(Leo) Parker of Noxapater, MS, 1 sister-in-law, Pat Bagwell of Jackson, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.

     Eugene Gilley married Margarette Ann Bagwell, daughter of James Garrett Bagwell and Mary Ann Homan, circa 1958.

     Vesta V. Fomby was born on 27 May 1917. As of after 1930,her married name was Bagwell. She married James Coleman Bagwell, son of Hale Bagwell and Ellender Jane Bearden, after 1930. As of 31 March 1955,her married name was Clampit. Vesta V. Fomby married James V. Clampit on 31 March 1955 at Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Vesta V. Fomby died on 28 July 2005 at age 88. She was buried on 30 July 2005 at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, Louisiana.

Survivors include his parents, James Coleman Bagwell Jr. and Marilyn Bagwell; brother, Chuck Bagwell and wife, Kendra; children, Issac Joel Bagwell “Jammie”, James Ashton Bagwell, Mason Bagwell; his wife, Ashley Bagwell; aunts and uncles, Bill and Sandra Bagwell, Faye Swillie, Sandra and Bill Lackey, Bobby Davis and Joyce Davis; grandmother, Edna Davis; nieces and nephews, Bridgette Greer, Kristine Greer, Billy Bagwell, Ellie Greer, Cameron Cole Bagwell. Jim had numerous friends, but one special one, Angie Culpepper was his best friend.

Pallbearers will be Blake Cooper, Devine Cooper, Lance Greer, Clint Culpepper, Scotty Ellis and Devin Greer.
