He was a Staff SGT in the US Marine Corps and served in Viet Nam. Rufus James Bagwell married Kathleen Anne Perry after 1952. Rufus James Bagwell married Faye Nancy Roache on 8 November 1952. Rufus James Bagwell died on 21 June 1975 in Pickens, Pickens Couny, South Carolina, at age 40. He was buried at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, Beaufort County, South Carolina.

     Kathleen Anne Perry was born on 5 May 1934 in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. As of after 1952,her married name was Bagwell. She married Rufus James Bagwell, son of Homer Lester Bagwell Sr. and Mentora May Worley, after 1952. Kathleen Anne Perry died on 19 January 2016 in Pickens, Pickens Couny, South Carolina, at age 81. She was buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, Pickens Couny, South Carolina.

FORT MEYERS, Fla. — Andrew James Bagwell. September 3, 1964-January 1, 2022, Fort Myers, Florida.

Andrew was born at the naval hospital in Oahu, Hawaii and moved to Pickens when he was nine years old. He attended Pickens Elementary, Pickens Junior High and Pickens Senior High School.

Andrew worked at both the Gayley and Milikan plants, but his true passion was being on the water and he found great enjoyment working shrimp boats off the coast of Florida. His other passions included reading, shooting pool and listening to .38 Special.

Andrew is preceded in death by his father, Rufus James Bagwell and his mother, Kathleen Perry Bagwell. Surviving are his brothers, Anthony Bagwell; Avery (Nancy) Bagwell; Alan (Ivonne) Bagwell and his sisters, Amanda Bagwell and Annette (Drew) Weber, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

     Amanda E. Bagwell is the daughter of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry.

     Annette Isabelle Bagwell is the daughter of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry. Annette Isabelle Bagwell married Drew Weber on 25 April 1998 at Weber County, Texas.

     Nancy (?) married Avery Dale Bagwell, son of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry, after 1973.

     Alan Joseph Bagwell is the son of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry. Alan Joseph Bagwell married Ivonne (?) after 1973.

     Ivonne (?) married Alan Joseph Bagwell, son of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry, after 1973.

     Drew Weber married Annette Isabelle Bagwell, daughter of Rufus James Bagwell and Kathleen Anne Perry, on 25 April 1998 at Weber County, Texas.

     Minnie Marie Handshy was born on 26 December 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. As of before 1957,her married name was Bagwell. She married Elmer P. Bagwell Jr., son of Elmer P. Bagwell and Cornia Coleman, before 1957. Minnie Marie Handshy died on 5 January 2024 in Tupelo, Jackson County, Arkansas, at age 87


Mrs. Minnie Marie (Handshy) Bagwell of Tupelo, Arkansas departed this life on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 87. She was born December 26, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of John and Minnie Handshy.

Mrs. Bagwell began working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and then became a Data Processor for Harris Hospital. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Tupelo. Mrs. Bagwell loved art and enjoyed creating pottery and painting.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmer Bagwell, Jr; five brothers, John, Orville, Arthur, Donald, and Emery; five sisters, Catherine, Margaret, Ruth, Violet, and Dorothy; and her parents.

Mrs. Bagwell is survived by her two sons, Jay Preston Bagwell and fiancé, Susie Combs, and Richard Lee Bagwell and wife, Krissten, all of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Amanda Dawn Spinks and husband, Levi, Amber Lynn Bagwell, Jordan Lee Bagwell, and Peyton Marie Bagwell; and two great grandchildren, Lily and T.J. Spinks.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Sandhill Cemetery, with Bro. Bobby Bowen officiating.
