She married Edgar Frederick Bagwell, son of Tandy Walker Bagwell and Elizabeth Della Freeman, after 1938. Ella Cain died on 27 April 2024 in Piedmont, South Carolina, at age 91

Ella C. Bagwell, 91, of Piedmont, SC, a true pioneer and a beloved mother figure to many, passed away on April 27, 2024. She was born on May 22, 1932, in Raburn County, Georgia, to the late Thomas H. Cobb and Elsie M. Metcalfe. Ella's journey through life was marked by remarkable achievements and unwavering kindness.

In her professional life, Ella blazed trails as one of Family Dollar's first female district managers. Her dedication and hard work paved the way for future generations of women in the corporate world. For two decades, she skillfully managed her district, leaving a lasting impact on all who worked alongside her.

Ella's vibrant personality shone brightly in all aspects of her life. A true feisty redhead with a heart of gold, she was known as a champion for the underdog and a vocal advocate against injustice. Her home was always open to others, a place where children flocked to hang out with her own kids. Fondly referred to as "Neenaw" by the neighborhood children, Ella embodied the essence of a cool and caring mom.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ella found immense joy in being a mom and surrounded herself with laughter and love. Her knack for making everyone feel welcome earned her the "the atlas" title among family and friends. Whether it was navigating through literal or metaphorical roads, Ella was always there to guide and support those around her. Her daughter fondly remembers her waking up the grandkids at 3 AM laughing and telling them to get ready to go to the Waffle House as a treat. Ella was just fun.

One of Ella's proudest accomplishments was co-founding True Christian Fellowship, a non-denominational church, alongside her daughter Vicki. She served as both the secretary and treasurer, showcasing her unwavering faith and dedication to community building.

Ella is survived by her daughters, Vicki Jewell and Susan Chappell, and one son, Ed Bagwell. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lauren Burkett (Marty), Brandon Jewell (Crystal), Sommer White (Shawn), and Kasey Holcombe, as well as nine great-grandchildren: Malerie Osborne, Nicholas Peluso, Tyler Woods, Logan Jewell, Dylan Jewell, Gauge Altman, Garrett White, Preston White, and Jackson Holcombe.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Bagwell, her son, Chuck Bagwell, and a granddaughter, Mikel J. Bailey.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Robinson Funeral Home—Powdersville Road. A graveside service will follow immediately after at 11:00 AM at Robinson Memorial Gardens on Powdersville Road in Easley.

Edgar Frederick Bagwell Jr. was born on 29 July 1952. He was the son of Edgar Frederick Bagwell and Ella Cain. Edgar Frederick Bagwell Jr. died on 2 August 2025 in Piedmont, South Carolina, at age 73

Edgar "Ed" F. Bagwell, Jr, born on July 29, 1952, left us too soon on August 2, 2025. Though his time with us was brief, his impact was profound and will be cherished by those who knew him.

Ed was a simple, humble, and quiet man. He found joy in the little things in life, and while he often kept to himself, his voice would rise in cheer for the Clemson Tigers during their games, donning a special outfit that showed his spirited support. He embodied love for his family, building a house next door to his parents so they could be close. As they aged, he made the selfless decision to sell that house to be even nearer to them, cooking meals and spending treasured evenings by their side.

He was a proud founding member of True Christian Fellowship Church in Westminster, SC, where he found solace in song and community. Ed loved to sing in church, his voice resonating with the warmth of his character, filling the space with love. In addition to his faith, he found peace in gardening and watching his beloved hummingbirds flit about.

Above all else, Ed’s heart was centered on his family, especially his mother, Ella. He took great pride in caring for her, demonstrating a love that was deep and unconditional.

Ed is survived by his sisters Vicki Jewell and Susan Chappell, his nieces and nephews Sommer White, Kasey Holcombe, Brandon Jewell, Lauren Burkette, Nicholas Peluso, and Tyler Wood, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Frederick Bagwell, Sr., and Ella C. Bagwell, a brother, Chuck Bagwell, and a niece, Mikel J. Bailey.

Ed's life, though short, was filled with love, dedication, and moments that will remain in the hearts of many. He taught us the beauty of simplicity and the importance of family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and tenderness. His memory will live on through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
