     Mary Bell (?) was also known as Belle (?) She was born in April 1877. She was born on 20 October 1878. She was born on 13 January 1897 in Georgia. As of circa 1920,her married name was Bagwell. She married Florence Bagwell, son of Pledger Bagwell and Caroline Mayfield, circa 1920 at abt 1920. Mary Bell (?) died on 10 August 1928 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, at age 31. She was buried on 7 February 1957 at South View Cemetery, Fulton County, Georgia.

     Sadie Bagwell was born on 6 February 1902 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Florence Bagwell and Mary Bell (?) Sadie Bagwell died on 23 March 1974 in Georgia at age 72. She was buried at South View Cemetery, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

     Julie E. Agriesti married Michael Christopher Bagwell, son of Thomas Kirk Bagwell and Rebecca Ann Henniger, on 30 August 1994 at Franklin County, Ohio. Julie E. Agriesti and Michael Christopher Bagwell were divorced on 3 June 1997 at Franklin County, Ohio.

     Douglas Larksman Herrell married Tammy Evelyn Bagwill, daughter of Harold Glenn Bagwill and Joyce Evelyn Patterson, on 1 July 1981 at Smith County, Texas.

     Rebecca Joyce Bagwell was born circa 1964. She was the daughter of William Oliver Bagwell Sr. and Wanda Joyce Middlebrooks. As of after 1982,her married name was Sears. Rebecca Joyce Bagwell married (?) Sears after 1982. Rebecca Joyce Bagwell died before 2023.

     Dorothy Sawyer was born on 9 May 1918 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. As of 30 August 1941,her married name was Bagwell. She married William Haynes Bagwell, son of William Lee Bagwell and Jerusha Malinda Haynes, on 30 August 1941 at Anderson, South Carolina. Dorothy Sawyer died on 5 January 2009 at age 90. She was buried at Macon Memorial Park, Macon, Bibb County, Georgia.

     William Haynes Bagwell Jr. was born on 20 June 1942. He was the son of William Haynes Bagwell and Dorothy Sawyer. William Haynes Bagwell Jr. died on 4 October 2013 in Ball Ground, Georgia, at age 71.

     Sandy Bagwell is the daughter of William Haynes Bagwell and Dorothy Sawyer.

     Hope Brodie Irby was born on 12 July 1948 in Clover, Halifax County, Virginia. As of 22 July 1967,her married name was Bagwell. She married Don Pyle Bagwell Jr., son of Don Pyle Bagwell and Barbara Blair DeJarnette, on 22 July 1967 at Danville, Virginia. Hope Brodie Irby died on 29 March 2023 in North Carolina at age 74


Hope Brodie Irby Bagwell, 74, of Asheville, North Carolina, died peacefully and comfortably at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Hope was born on July 12, 1948 in Clover, to James Morgan Irby III and Mary Zane Brodie Irby, immediately after her twin brother, Jim.

Hope grew up in South Boston and graduated from Halifax County High School in 1966, attended Madison College and graduated with an Associates of Arts from Shenandoah College in Winchester in 1971. She also attended Averett College, majoring in organizational psychology. She worked as a secretary for Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Reynolds Metal Company, the Old Opera House in Charles Town, West Virginia, Southside Community Services Board, and St. John’s Episcopal Church. While in Halifax, she was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and served on alter guild, sang in the choir, and directed Vacation Bible School.

Hope was the director and board member for the Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia from 1973-1975. She was active in the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Alzheimer’s Association, Halifax Women’s Club, and Southside Concerned Citizens, where she actively opposed uranium mining in Halifax. She also served as a hospice volunteer.

In 2009, “Granny Hope” retired to Asheville to be with her grandchildren, Benjamin and Ruby (with whom she shared the same birthday). There she operated a taxi service through her car, Jezebel, that transported the kids to activities, making sure there was plentiful Goldfish, Juicy Fruit, and cough drops. She kept the road to the Isle of Palms, South Carolina well-worn, took ballroom dancing with Ruby, played badminton, read to first graders, and cameoed in a few Tik Toks.

She is survived by her son, George Morgan Bagwell of South Boston; daughter Elizabeth Bagwell Anderson; son-in-law George Thomas Anderson; grandson Benjamin Thomas Anderson; granddaughter Ruby Elizabeth Anderson all of Asheville, North Carolina; and twin brother James Morgan Irby IV. She is preceded in death by her father, James Morgan Irby III, and her mother, Mary Zane Brodie Irby.

A memorial for Hope will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Halifax. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Elizabeth House - Four Seasons, 581 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, North Carolina.

     Benita Jo Daniels married Don Pyle Bagwell Jr., son of Don Pyle Bagwell and Barbara Blair DeJarnette, on 26 July 2003 at Halifax, Virginia. Benita Jo Daniels and Don Pyle Bagwell Jr. were divorced on 20 December 2012 at Halifax, Virginia.

     Karen Leigh Jones was also known as Karen Leigh Tatham. She was born on 30 April 1950 in Easley, South Carolina. As of before 1968,her married name was Bagwell. She married Ronald Lee Bagwell, son of Jack Samuel Bagwell and Joyce Wardell, before 1968. Karen Leigh Jones died on 28 February 1998 at age 47. She was buried at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, Wellford, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

     Nichole Brooke Bagwell is the daughter of Mickey Manning Bagwell. Nichole Brooke Bagwell married Jeff Cantrell after 2008.

     Kip Bagwell is the son of Mickey Manning Bagwell.

     Jeff Cantrell married Nichole Brooke Bagwell, daughter of Mickey Manning Bagwell, after 2008.

     Suzanne Bagwell is the daughter of Gerald Wayne Bagwell and Nannie Lou Minter. Suzanne Bagwell married Rob Davis after 1984.
