Mr. Gene Bagwell, 69, of Calhoun died Sunday morning, December 28, 2002 at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, following an extended illness. He was born on June 24, 1933 in Gordon County, son of the late Howard "Doc" and Mae Tucker Bagwell. He had lived his lifetime in Gordon County, was employed for 14 years by the Calhoun Watch Shop as a repairman, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church near Sonoraville. He was preceded in death by a brother, J. H. Bagwell. Survivors include his wife, Martha Boswell Bagwell, to whom he was married for 44 years; a daughter, Sherry Quinn Williams of Calhoun; a son, Jerry B. Bennett of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Gwinell and Lewis Hensley of Calhoun; two brothers, Raymond of Calhoun and Ralph Bagwell of Rome; three grandchildren, Terina Fowler, Kendra Quinn, and Heath Bennett; three great-grandchildren, Deprice Bennett, Brianne Bennett, and Brooks Fowler; and nieces and nephews. Funeral was Monday, December 30, at 2 p.m. at the Bradley Anderson Memorial Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Jacky Waits officiating. The Rev. Jimmie Timms conducted the graveside rites. Pallbearers were Randy Smith, Clifford Baldwin, Chris Kissleberg, Mike Bagwell, Johnny Bagwell, and Jason Bagwell. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Blankenship, Lewis Couch, the Rev. Clifford Parker, Jonathan Henson, Vincent Bagwell, and Johnny Parker. Interment was in Fain Cemetery. Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ralph William Bagwell, Sr., 82, of 1 Carrington Place (Sherwood Forest), Rome died Thursday morning, March 11, 2004 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

A native of Gordon County, he was born on Feb. 7, 1922, son of the late Howard Penmore "Doc" Bagwell and the late Emma Mae Tucker Bagwell.

He was a graduate of Liberty High School in Gordon County and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was associated with Burlington Mills for several years prior to his retirement in 1965.

A veteran of World War II, he served as a Boswan's Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was a life member of Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5 and a life member and past commander of VFW Post 4911 of Rome.

He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by a son, Terry Edwin Bagwell, on May 21, 2003 and two brothers, J.H. and Gene Bagwell.

Survivors include his wife of more than 59 years, the former Freda Swalwell, to whom he was married Jan. 13, 1945, at St. Mays Cathedral in Middlesboro, Yorkshire, England; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Renia Williams of Calhoun and Pam and John Locklear of Rome; three sons and daughters-in-law Ralph Jr., and Karen Bagwell, Keith and Delilah Bagwell, and Ronnie and Lizette Bagwell, all of Rome; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Wynell Hensley of Calhoun; a brother, Raymond Bagwell of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m. from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home, with Dr. Talmadge Barnes officiating.

Interment followed at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard, and also serve as pallbearers, and members of VFW Post 4911 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Shanklin-Attaway American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard, 5 Shorter Ave., NW, Rome, Ga.

A native of Middlesbrough, England, Mrs. Bagwell was born on June 5th, 1926, the daughter of the late John E. and Sarah Keenan Swalwell. She had been a resident of Rome for more than 50 years, and was of the Catholic Faith being Christened at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral in Middlesbrough, England. Mrs. Bagwell was a member and past president of the Lady's Auxilary at VFW Post #4911 in Rome. Mrs. Bagwell's hobbies were sewing by hand and cooking. She was a homemaker and was associated with Klopman Mills of Shannon for 25 years. Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by a son, Terry Edwin Bagwell on May 21st, 2003, and by 2 sisters and 8 brothers. Mrs. Bagwell, a British War Bride, was married on January 13th, 1945 to Ralph William Bagwell, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 11th, 2004.

Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Renia Williams of Calhoun and Pam and John Locklear of Rome; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Bagwell, Jr. and his wife, Karen Bagwell, Keith and Delilah Bagwell and Ronnie and Lizette Bagwell all of Rome; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Alice Evans of Middlesbrough, England; a special nephew and his wife, Patrick and Lily Weatherall of Middlesbrough, England, a niece, Valerie Horkan of Middlebrough. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Freda S. Bagwell will be held on Monday afternoon, November 5th, 2007 at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Talmadge Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Bagwell will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) afternoon from 2 until 4 o'clock. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
