Donnis Jalaine Bagwell Terry, age 71, of Suwanee, GA passed away on March 8, 2013, after a brief illness. A life-long Gwinnett County resident, Mrs. Terry taught business education and keyboarding at North Gwinnett High School, retiring in 2000 after 39 years. Mrs. Terry graduated from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville in 1961 and was valedictorian of Sugar Hill High School's last graduating class. She attained Master's and Specialist's degrees in Education from Georgia College. A pioneer in women's rights in Gwinnett County, her sex-discrimination suit against the Gwinnett County Board of Education in 1974, was the impetus for the development of a maternity leave policy; prior to this change, pregnant teachers were terminated and had to reapply for their jobs. Mrs. Terry was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, a volunteer for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, and a member of the Georgia Association of Educators' State Spelling Bee committee. Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Bagwell. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Edwin Terry Suwanee, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Carol Terry, Suwanee, GA, Brenda and Bill Petty, Homer, GA and April and Mike Gann, Buford, GA; grandchildren, Helen Petty, Bryan Petty, Abby Gann and Jesse Gann; mother, Helen Pass Bagwell, Sugar Hill, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Lynn, Sugar Hill, GA and Frankie Bagwell, Sugar Hill, GA; sisters-in-law, Peggy Brogdon Terry, Suwanee, GA, Bernice Terry Puckett, Suwanee, GA and Kathleen Bruce Terry, Suwanee, GA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.1

She was a member of Island Ford Baptist Church in Buford, GA. “She was a gracious hostess who enjoyed family, friends and food and opening her home every Sunday as a gathering place.” Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA.1

Allen on Sept. 15, 1951. After Robert passed away on April 21, 1982, she married Albert J. Hittner on Feb. 14, 1993. Virginia retired from the State of Illinois as an administrative assistant in 1989.
A funeral service will be held 10:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Provena Cor Mariae Center, 3330 Maria Linden Dr., Rockford, with visitation from 9:45 a.m. to service time.
Burial will be in Scandinavian Cemetery.

Derek "Dirky" Brian Bagwell, 50, of Youngstown, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at a local hospital in Panama City.

Brian was born June 21, 1960, to Elizabeth Hall Green and the late Charles A. Bagwell in Orlando, Fla. He was served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fountain. Brian had a heart of gold and was a devoted father, son, brother and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Valerie Bagwell.

Brian leaves behind his mother; two sons, Charles John Bagwell and William Lofton Bagwell; daughter, Valynn Brianna Bagwell; fiancée, Nancy Teets; two brothers, Wayne Mann and Chuck Bagwell; three sisters, Beth Mann, Stephanie Bagwell and Denise Bagwell; close family friend, Claudine Roper; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Sanders officiating with interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at the funeral home.
