Mrs. Mamie Bagwell Collins, age 82 of Fayette, passed away May 4, 2021 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Survivors include one daughter: Gina Graham of Hoover, son: Thomas Richard Garner of Fayette, brother: Jimmy Allen Bagwell (Debbie) of Blakley, GA, sister: Louise Burgess (J.C.) of Chelsea, 3 grandchildren: Spencer Graham, Jordan Graham, and Stephen Hatfield, and one great-granddaughter: McKinzie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Edmonds Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Emily Jane Bagwell, age 78, of Fayette, passed away on Saturday, August 26, at Fayette Medical Center. Services for Mrs. Bagwell will be Wednesday, August 30, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time. Bro. Robert Parrish will be officiating the service.

Mrs. Bagwell is preceded in death by her husband; John C. Bagwell, her son; John Scott Bagwell, parents; Gaylon and Dorothy DuBose, sister; Ann Musgrove, and her brothers; Billy DuBose, Wayne DuBose, and Gary DuBose.

She is survived by her sons; Russell Bagwell (Tracy) of Fayette, and Greg Bagwell of Fayette, brothers; Max DuBose of Fayette, and grandchildren; Molly Bagwell of Tuscaloosa, Sadie Paredez (Justin) of Midland, Texas, Cade Bagwell of Fayette, and Kent Bagwell of Fayette.

Emily Jane Bagwell was born on November 11, 1944, in Fayette Alabama to Gaylon William DuBose and Dorothy Dix Corbett DuBose. She married John C. Bagwell on August 28, 1962, in Lebanon, Indiana. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a master’s degree in English and a minor in science. She taught Science/English at Winfield High School. She transferred to Fayette County High School in 1986. She also taught English at Bevill State Community College at Hamilton and Fayette Campus.

She was buried on 30 August 2023 at Fayette Memorial Gardens, Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama.²

     Thomas Ray Bagwell was born on 2 February 1947. He was the son of Thomas Clinton Bagwell and Annie Mae Odell.¹ He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the Alabama National Guard with 33 years of combined service. He had retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation. Thomas Ray Bagwell married Shirley J. circa 1985.² Thomas Ray Bagwell died on 26 December 2013 in Piedmont, Alabama, at age 66.² He was buried on 28 December 2013 at Goshen Cemetery, Goshen, Pike County, Alabama.

     Mary Louise Bagwell is the daughter of Thomas Clinton Bagwell and Annie Mae Odell.¹

As of 24 October 1916,her married name was Thomas. Mary Etta Bagwell married Robert Cleveland Thomas on 24 October 1916 at Covington County, Alabama. Mary Etta Bagwell died on 4 August 1924 in Okaloosa County, Florida, at age 30.¹ She was buried at Jack D. Reeder Cemetery, Campton, Okaloosa County, Florida.¹

     Robert Cleveland Thomas was also known as Robet Calvin Thomas. He was born on 18 October 1892 in Campton, Okaloosa County, Florida. He married Mary Etta Bagwell, daughter of Emanuel York Bagwell and Loveaser Louisa Collins, on 24 October 1916 at Covington County, Alabama. Robert Cleveland Thomas died on 18 October 1934 in Okaloosa County, Florida, at age 42. He was buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Crestview, Okaloosa County, Florida.

     Dicie O. Bagwell was born on 26 October 1896 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.² She was the daughter of Emanuel York Bagwell and Loveaser Louisa Collins. As of before 1912,her married name was Jones. Dicie O. Bagwell married (?) Jones before 1912. Dicie O. Bagwell lived on 23 January 1920 in Florala, Covington County, Alabama.¹ As of before 1930,her married name was Arndt. She married Frank Arndt before 1930. Dicie O. Bagwell and Frank Arndt lived in 1930 in Tarrant, Jefferson County, Alabama. Dicie O. Bagwell and Frank Arndt lived in 1940 in Cullman, Cullman County, Alabama. Dicie O.      Jesse Ray Bagwell was born on 15 March 1867 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.¹ He was the son of George LaFayette Bagwell and Mary Bethaney Laster. Jesse Ray Bagwell married Henrietta Eliza Johnson on 19 August 1892 at Thackerville, Indian Territory (Oklahoma).² Jesse Ray Bagwell and Richard Dick Bagwell lived in 1940 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma; In 1940, Richard was living with his father and mother after getting a divorce with two of his children. Jesse Ray Bagwell died in 1947 in Norman, Oklahoma, On August 19, 1892, a Double Wedding, Jesse Ray Bagwell married Etta Johnson, and Jesse's sister, Georgie Ann (Anna Georgie) married Matthew George Moutray. Moutray and Etta Johnson were cousins.

Jesse along with his father owned a store in Thackerville, Indian Territory around 1892, from a stationary I found in the Texas State Archives, stating the name was, Bagwell & Son, Thackerville, I.T. that Jesse used.¹ He was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.¹

     Frances Simpson was born on 31 March 1834 in Alabama. As of 22 March 1847,her married name was Bagwell. She married Charles Burk Bagwell, son of Redmond (Redman) Bagwell and Mary Lennard, on 22 March 1847 at Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Frances Simpson died in 1905 in Mississippi.

     Samuel (Sam) L. Dobbs was born circa 1878 in Alabama.¹ He married Luella (Ella) Bagwell, daughter of Berkley Garrison Bagwell and Adline E. York, on 19 December 1900 at Fayette County, Alabama.^1,2 He was a merchant at a general store. on 16 April 1910 at Holly Springs, Fayette County, Alabama.¹ Samuel (Sam) L. Dobbs lived on 3 January 1920 in Holly Springs, Fayette County, Alabama.² He was a salesman for a general store on 3 January 1920 at Holly Springs, Fayette County, Alabama.² He died in 1971. He was buried at Walker Memory Gardens, Jasper, Walker County, Alabama.
