William Harley Bagwell was born on 21 October 1944 in Wenatchee, Chelan County, Washington.1 He was the son of George Leslie Bagwell and Evelyn Julia Archer.1 William Harley Bagwell married Betty Jean Henneman on 2 October 1965.1 William Harley Bagwell died on 16 July 2017 in Washington at age 72
Our dad, William Harley Bagwell, was born on October 21, 1944, in Wenatchee, WA to George Leslie Bagwell and Evelyn Julia Archer Bagwell. Dad's dad was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis at an early age which left Dad as an only child to be raised by his mother, grandmother and a handful of uncles. Despite this non-traditional way of being raised, Dad always told the best stories about his childhood and teen years. The Corfu area will always hold a special place in our hearts as the place "where Dad grew up". Dad married our mom, Betty Jean Henneman Bagwell, on October 2, 1965. They began their adventure in various towns in the area before finally settling in Othello. After graduating from high school, Dad worked at Othello Hardware. From 1969 to 1986, Dad worked as a shipping supervisor at Carnation. In 1986, Dad went into business for himself and opened a radiator shop. Dad went to work for GL & Son Trucking and Tractor Salvage after selling the radiator shop. And then, one day in 2000, Dad's dream job became available and he went to work as a junkyard man. He met his buddy Lobo while working there. Mom and Dad raised 5 reasonably decent folk who produced 15 fine grandchildren. Those fine grandchildren have given Dad and Mom lots and lots of great-grandchildren with more to come. Dad leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Betty; his children, Kristine and Terry, Les and Martha, Kimberly and Bob, Donnie and Jennifer and Robyn and Jamey; his grandchildren, Adam, Brian, Chad, Billy, Rickiesha, Joshua, Zachary, Ryan, Anthony, Blake, Teddy, Breanna, Stefannie, Austin and finally, Madisyn, along with their spouses, fiances and sweethearts. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. When our always-expanding family would gather together, Dad would often say to Mom, "Look what we started." Although Dad was raised as an only child, when his mother married Donald Selle, he gained 7 siblings; Cliff and Carol, Lola and Don, Sparky, Judy and Bob, Donna and Steve, Jim and Jessica and Larry and Kathy. Dad also leaves behind his brother from another mother, Garrie Wash. Dad was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Selle, his father, George Bagwell and his step-father, Donald Selle. Dad shared many of his passions with us which then became our passions. Many of us are wrestling fans because of Dad, many of us are fishermen because of Dad and many of us are racing fans because of Dad. Mostly though, our Dad was our biggest fan. His quiet yet grand presence will be felt at every baseball game, gymnastics meet, demolition derby, wedding and family get-together.1
He was buried at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello, Adams County, Washington.1

Betty Jean Henneman1

F, b. 24 March 1947, d. 20 April 2025
Betty Jean Henneman was born on 24 March 1947 in Winner, Tripp County, South Dakota. As of 2 October 1965,her married name was Bagwell.1 She married William Harley Bagwell, son of George Leslie Bagwell and Evelyn Julia Archer, on 2 October 1965.1 Betty Jean Henneman died on 20 April 2025 in Othello, Adams County, Washington, at age 78

DOB 03/24/1947
DOD 04/20/2025

Written and provided by family.

Our mother, Betty Jean Bagwell, was born on March 24, 1947, in Winner, SD, to Harry William Henneman and Fern Alice Rash Henneman. She passed peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of Easter day, April 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Mom was the 4th of 5 children, sandwiched between her older sister, Patricia, and her little sister, Beverly. Her older brothers are Alfred and Harry, Jr., who passed in 1996.

Mom was raised with her siblings in South Dakota until about 1955, when they followed the migration of folks who moved from the Midwest states to the dust bowl of Washington state, first settling in the Royal Slope area.

Mom married our dad, William H., on October 2, 1965. They began their adventure in various towns in the area before finally settling in Othello. Mom was a housewife and stay-at-home mom until our youngest sister went off to school. She went to work for The Printers in 1979 and moved to the Othello Outlook as the Advertising Editor until the mid-2000s. Mom also enjoyed taking census door-to-door periodically throughout the years. Mom’s favorite “job” and the one she is most well known for is seamstress. Mom mended and tailored for Magoteaux’s Men’s Store as well as various dry cleaners in the area. Out of their home though, Mom made hundreds of dresses for women in the community – wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, Rainbow dresses, Junior Miss dresses, dresses for all occasions. Eventually, mom’s love of sewing evolved into making quilts for EVERYONE. She also taught quilt-making classes through the Community Schools for many, many years.

Mom and Dad raised 5 kids of whom they were very proud. Those 5 children eventually married and blessed them with fifteen grandchildren as well as several bonus grandchildren. Many of those grandchildren have gone on to add more blessings to our family with even more to come. If mom were here, she’d tell you precisely how many.

Mom leaves behind her children, Kristine and Terry, Kimberly and Bob, Donnie and Jennifer and Robyn and Jamey; her grandchildren, Adam, Brian, Chad, Billy, Rickiesha, Joshua, Zachary, Ryan, Anthony, Blake, Teddy, Breanna, Stefannie, Austin and finally, Madisyn, along with their spouses. She is also survived by her brother, Al, and his wife, Carol; her sisters Pat and Bev and her husband, Jerry as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bagwell, her son, George Bagwell aka Les, as well as her parents and brother.

It’s difficult to some up the life of your 78-year-old mother in a few short paragraphs, a handful of songs, a hundred photos and an hour of ceremony. Our mom was more than “just” our mom. She was a seamstress, a bowler, a lap counter, a Yahtzee player, a Bingo player, a census taker, a scorekeeper, a friend, a crafter, a diabetic, a TOPS member, a COVID survivor, a family historian, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a daughter-in-
law, a mother-in-law, an aunt, a great-aunt, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She was also a blessing to each and every one of us.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 715 E. Scootney St., Othello, WA. Burial to follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.

She was buried on 2 May 2025 at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello, Adams County, Washington.

Jamie Lynn Bagwell1,2

F, b. 19 October 1964, d. 3 May 2026
Jamie Lynn Bagwell was born on 19 October 1964 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.1,2 She was the daughter of Austin Claude Bagwell and Empress Ann Hicks.1,2 Jamie Lynn Bagwell died on 3 May 2026 at age 61

Jamie Lynn Bagwell was born October 19, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas. Her parents were Austin Claudell Bagwell and Empress Ann (Hicks) Bagwell. She had 3 older siblings and was often reminded by at least one of the others that she was the youngest and most spoiled child. Like most sibling assessments, she often disagreed with them.

Jamie grew up in San Antonio and attended First Baptist Church with her family until she left for college. Jamie accepted Christ as a child and grew up loving to sing in the choir as well as playing in a handbell choir. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and then earned a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1987. Later she continued her education at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth as well as earning a Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.

Her primary interest was in reading books and especially books aimed at younger readers, mostly driven by what she found useful for her librarian roles. Other than books, she did have a surprisingly high interest in following the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. That was probably a direct result of the fact that there was only one television in the house and her father and brothers had the only television tuned to the Dallas Cowboys every Sunday afternoon. If you wanted to watch TV then, there was only once choice. Supporting the Spurs must have been for a different reason but they did arrive in San Antonio right in the middle of her childhood.

After her time at Baylor, Jamie’s career started with teaching in Harlandale ISD for a couple of years followed by taking a librarian position for 2 more years. Then she had her first stint with the International Mission Board serving as a journeyman with some teaching/tutoring of missionary children in Japan and participating in Friendship classes with groups of women. She returned to San Antonio for a year teaching 5th grade at Alamo City Christian Academy. At the end of that year, she was sent by the IMB as a representative to East Asia where she served while teaching English as a Second Language to adults. Returning to San Antonio from overseas in 2006, she rejoined the church family at Alamo City Church where she sang for a time in the worship choir and has enjoyed her small group greatly. Jamie once again was able to find a position as a librarian this time in the Edgewood ISD and she worked almost 20 years there in elementary and middle school libraries originally at a specific school for the school year and then, in later years, roving around to cover several schools as the librarian positions were reduced in the district.

In April of 2025, Jamie suddenly noticed unsettling issues and was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very fast growing and deadly brain tumor. In early May 2025, she had surgery to remove most of the tumor followed by chemotherapy and radiation followed by two other treatments to slow the cancer down. However, after a few months, she started to need more personal care, so she was moved into assisted living. She continued to get other treatments to slow the reemergence of the cancer, but it was slowly spreading again and resulted in more difficulty in communication as well as complete loss of use of the right side of her body. In the end, she was mostly asleep for the last few days and passed away peacefully on May 3.

Jamie is preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Empress Bagwell as well as a brother Elton who died as an infant. She is survived by brothers Kerry (and Debbie) Bagwell, Craig (and Karen) Bagwell, and sister Lori Cuellar. Jamie is also survived by her 13 nephews and nieces and their families, as well as much of her large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, and their families. As a believer in Jesus Christ, Jamie has moved on to join her Lord and to worship her Heavenly Father in fellowship with all the family and friends that have already gone before her.
