Mr. Bagwell was born January 29, 1920 in Whitney, SC, the son of Fletcher Bagwell and Jessie Mae Allen Bagwell.

He was retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and was a veteran of W.W.II. Following retirement he was employed by the US Postal Service and retired as a supervisor. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fleet Reserve. He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Lorna Bagwell, of Dahlonega, GA; 3 sisters: Iris Pierce, Gladys Watterson, Barbara Williams all of Spartanburg, SC; 2 brothers: Simpson Bagwell of Jacksonville, FL and Bill Bagwell of Pensacola, FL; He is pre-deceased by a son: David W. Bagwell; 2 sisters: Jennie Mae Siltzer and Lillian Hughes and one brother, Earl Bagwell.

     Iris Bagwell was born on 24 August 1935 in Whitney, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of James Fletcher Bagwell and Jessie Mae Allen. As of after 1945,her married name was Pierce. Iris Bagwell married Richard Pierce after 1945. Iris Bagwell died on 8 July 2010 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at age 74.

     Alice Louise Bizzell was born on 20 May 1925.¹ As of before 1946,her married name was Bagwell.¹ She married Connie D. She loved to laugh and sing. She will be missed by the furry creatures in her life; Caleb , the Irish Setter, and Boots , Trisha and Samee , the kitties. Louise is survived by a daughter, Lorna Bagwell of Dahlonega, GA; a cousin, Gail Llewelen and husband, Lou, of Charleston; two sisters-in-law, Iris Pierce and Barbara Williams, both of Spartanburg, SC; and two brothers-in-law, Simp Bagwell of Jacksonville, FL and Bill Bagwell and wife, Margaret, of Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by dear friends, Elma England, Faye Davis, and her loving caregiver, Rosa Milligan, all of Charleston. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, CD; her son, David W. Bagwell; and a sister, Leona Bizzell Maple.¹ She was buried at Bethany Cemetery, Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.¹

     David Walling Bagwell was born on 26 December 1946.¹ He was the son of Connie D. Bagwell and Alice Louise Bizzell.¹ David Walling Bagwell died on 31 July 1999 at age 52.¹ He was buried at Bethany Cemetery, Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina.¹

     Julius Elmer Williams was born on 9 October 1924 in South Carolina.¹ He married Juanita R. Bagwell, daughter of Walter Leonard Bagwell and Lenace Faye Bledsoe, on 7 February 1947. Julius Elmer Williams died on 12 August 1974 in Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, at age 49.¹ He was buried at Thompson Chapel Cemetery, Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.¹

     Susan Malinda "Linnie" Bagwell was born on 21 December 1892 in Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Mary Ethelene "Mae" Whitaker. As of before 1911,her married name was Stroup. Susan Malinda "Linnie" Bagwell married George Frederick Stroup before 1911. Susan Malinda "Linnie" Bagwell died on 28 May 1968 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 75.¹ She was buried at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹

     George Frederick Stroup was born on 1 April 1892 in Cane Creek, Buncombe County, North Carolina. He married Susan Malinda "Linnie" Bagwell, daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Mary Ethelene "Mae" Whitaker, before 1911. George Frederick Stroup died on 27 December 1957 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 65.

     Ida Kathleen Bagwell was born on 4 February 1912 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham. Ida Kathleen Bagwell died on 20 June 1993 in Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina, at age 81.

     Mary F. Bagwell was born on 15 May 1909 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham. As of after 1910,her married name was Moore. Mary F. Bagwell married Boyce Robert Moore after 1910. Mary F. Bagwell died on 23 February 1998 in Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina, at age 88 Mary Bagwell Moore, 88 formerly of Church Road, Fairview, died Monday, February 23, 1998 at the home of her sister.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Flora Cunningham Bagwell and wife of the late Boyce Robert Moore, who died in 1984. She was a former employee of C P Clare and was a 70 year member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Bagwell Henry of Hendersonville, with whom she made her home; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of (Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Jock Ohs and Jack Plemmons officiating. Burial will be in the Cane Creek Cemetery. She was buried at Cane Creek Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

     Preston Stanhope Bagwell was born on 19 August 1903 in Fletcher, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham. Preston Stanhope Bagwell married Laura Jane Moody on 14 June 1924. Preston Stanhope Bagwell died in December 1966 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 63.¹ He was buried at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹

     Laura Jane Moody also went by the name of Lori Moody. She was born on 24 July 1890.¹ As of 14 June 1924,her married name was Bagwell. She married Preston Stanhope Bagwell, son of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham, on 14 June 1924. Laura Jane Moody died on 23 December 1974 at age 84.¹ She was buried at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹

     Preston Stanhope Bagwell Jr. was born on 7 May 1925 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was the son of Preston Stanhope Bagwell and Laura Jane Moody. Preston Stanhope Bagwell Jr. married Betty Louise Lunsford after 1940. He served as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps during World War II. Preston Stanhope Bagwell Jr. died on 18 May 2001 in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 76 Asheville - Preston s. Bagwell, Jr., 76, died Friday, may 18, 2001.

Mr. Bagwell was a native of buncombe county and lived here for most of his life. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the US Marine Corp, serving during WW II, and he had worked for the NC Wildlife Resource Commission, Asheville City Police Department., NC State Highway Patrol, and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Dept. From which he retired from in January, 2001.

He was the son of the late Preston S. and Laura Moody Bagwell, SR., and was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Ray Bagwell.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Lunsford Bagwell of the home, and a granddaughter, Kelly Bagwell of Atlanta, GA.

Burial will be in Tweeds Chapel Cemetery.

     Irene Stella Bagwell was born on 12 March 1907 in North Carolina. She was the daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham. As of 14 May 1927,her married name was Whitaker. Irene Stella Bagwell married Seaman Sam Whitaker on 14 May 1927. Irene Stella Bagwell died on 18 August 1981 in Horse Shoe, Henderson County, North Carolina, at age 74 HORSE SHOE - Services for Irene Whitaker, 74, of North Mills River Road, who died Tuesday (August 18, 1981) will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mills River United Methodist Church. The Rev. Abe Cox will officiate. Burial will be in the Whitaker Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitaker was a native of the Cane Creek community and a resident of Henderson County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Andy and Flora Cunningham Bagwell, Sr.
Surviving are her husband, Seaman S. Whitaker; a daughter, Shirley Massey of Mills River; a son, Dewey R., Whitaker of Winston Salem; a brother, A. B. Bagwell of Hendersonville; three sisters, Mary Moore of Fairview, Kathleen Osborne of Mills River and Margaret Henry of Hendersonville; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was buried at Whitaker Cemetery, Henderson County, North Carolina.

     Seaman Sam Whitaker was born on 21 June 1901 in Mills River, Henderson County, North Carolina. He married Irene Stella Bagwell, daughter of Andrew Brizille Bagwell and Flora Serepta Cunningham, on 14 May 1927. Seaman Sam Whitaker died on 14 June 1989 in Horse Shoe, Henderson County, North Carolina, at age 87.

     Betty Louise Lunsford was born on 16 October 1928.¹ As of after 1940,her married name was Bagwell. She married Preston Stanhope Bagwell Jr., son of Preston Stanhope Bagwell and Laura Jane Moody, after 1940. Betty Louise Lunsford died on 13 July 2013 at age 84.¹ She was buried at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹

     Donald Ray Bagwell was born on 1 November 1951 in Gaston County, North Carolina.¹ He was the son of Preston Stanhope Bagwell Jr. and Betty Louise Lunsford. Donald Ray Bagwell married Cathy Jane Carbone in 1969 at Florida. Donald Ray Bagwell and Cathy Jane Carbone were divorced on 5 February 1974 at Pinellas County, Florida. Donald Ray Bagwell married Kathy Helen Wallace on 30 August 1974 at Pinellas County, Florida. Donald Ray Bagwell died on 7 July 1989 in Pinellas County, North Carolina, at age 37.¹ He was buried at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery, Fairview, Buncombe County, North Carolina.¹

     George Luther Bagwell was also known as Walter George Lucas "Luke" Bagwell. He was born on 25 June 1893 in Indian Territory (Oklahoma).¹ He was the son of Jesse Ray Bagwell and Henrietta Eliza Johnson. George Luther Bagwell married Ava Lounette Boswell before 1917.² George Luther Bagwell died on 13 September 1963 in Erath County, Texas, at age 70.¹ He was buried at Live Oak Cemetery, Dublin, Earth County, Texas.¹

     Jessie Wilma Bagwell was born on 23 July 1899 in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). She was the daughter of Jesse Ray Bagwell and Henrietta Eliza Johnson. As of before 1927,her married name was Bettes. Jessie Wilma Bagwell married Eunice William Bettes before 1927. Jessie Wilma Bagwell died on 22 April 1985 in Fort Worth, Texas, at age 85. She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.

     Eunice William Bettes was born on 8 May 1893 in De Leon, Texas. He married Jessie Wilma Bagwell, daughter of Jesse Ray Bagwell and Henrietta Eliza Johnson, before 1927. Eunice William Bettes died on 8 April 1963 in North Richland Hills, Texas, at age 69.
