Jackie Lahoma Hargrave of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at her residence. Lahoma Hargrave was born on January 8, 1929 in Horatio Arkansas. She was the first child born to Henry Eunice Bagwell and Edna Earl Fenton Bagwell. She graduated from Texas High School in 1945 and began a career with the telephone company.
She met Paul Hargrave, Jr. randomly at a local theatre where he asked her out on a date. They were married on April 28, 1950. Soon after they were married, she moved with Paul to Wilmington, Delaware. In 1953, she and her husband and new son moved back to Texarkana where her husband began the transitioning of the management of Hargrave Plumbing Company. Their second son, Mike, was born that year. Upon the death of Paul Hargrave, Sr. in 1955, Paul and Lahoma Hargrave at age 30 and 26 respectfully assumed the ownership and management of Hargrave Plumbing Company. They loved and lived for each other and their two boys, Bruce and Mike.
During the mid 70's, Paul, Lahoma, and Mike Hargrave gave their lives to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Their son Bruce baptized all three at the First Baptist Church Moores Lane of Texarkana.
During her lifetime, Lahoma Hargrave was involved with many volunteer service projects through her membership and love of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Lahoma Hargrave and Paul served as volunteers for many years at the Veteran Administration Medical Clinic. Later in life she was very active in Bible Study Fellowship and very active in her Sunday School Class, the Ruth Class of First Baptist Church Moores Lane of Texarkana. Lahoma loved her Bible studies with BSF, her Sunday school class and friends. After Paul was ordained a deacon, she faithfully helped him with his deacon responsibilities and served in the prayer ministry and greeting ministry of First Baptist Church Moores Lane of Texarkana.
Lahoma Hargrave was preceded in death by her parents Henry Eunice Bagwell and Edna Earl Fenton Bagwell, her sister Ada Sharon Bagwell Rogers, her two brothers Bruce Bagwell and Charles Henry Bagwell and her beloved husband Paul Hargrave, Jr.
Lahoma Hargrave is survived by her two son's Dr. Bruce Hargrave and daughter in law Cathy Williams Hargrave of Rowlett, Texas and Mike Hargrave and his fiancée Peggy Lynn Purifoy Flink of Texarkana. Two granddaughters, Brittney Noel Hargrave Satterfield and her husband Dale Satterfield of Hazlegreen, Alabama and Bethany Lynne Hargrave of Rockwall, Texas. Two great grandchildren Savannah Satterfield and Dane Satterfield of Hazlegreen, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be Neal Courtney, Tracy Davis, Selden McMillen, Raymond Griffin, and Gary Strickland. Honorary Pallbearer's will be the wonderful attending staff to Lahoma Hargrave around the clock by the Cornerstone Home Health Service.
Services will be 10am, Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Atrium of First Baptist Church Moores Lane of Texarkana, Texas with the Reverends Jeff Schreve and Larry Sims officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She was buried at Hillcrest Cemetery, Texarkana, Bowie County, Arkansas.
