     Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell was born on 14 March 1935 in Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas. He was the son of Ezra Joseph Bagwell and Mary Pearlee Callaway. Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell married Virgie Lorene Parker on 29 June 1954 at Amarillo, Texas. Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell died on 31 December 2018 in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma, at age 83


James E. Bagwell, 83, of Lawton passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Center.James E. Bagwell was born March 14, 1935 to Ezra Joseph and Mary Pearlee Calloway Bagwell in Hereford, Texas. He married Virgie Lorene Parker on June 29, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas at San Jacinto Baptist Church and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. He joined the Army in 1955 serving active duty and National Guard for 26 years, 2 months and 11 days. He retired from the Army July 31, 1978 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma as Command Sergeant Major of 212th FA group. He then worked for Goodyear Tire Company until turning 55 and he retired. James loved his family, friends and his country. He loved volunteering for the VA Center and driving the bus to Oklahoma City for over 5 years to help veterans. He also helped wives of Army buddies gone before him. James was a good man! Thanks for being a very good brother like friend- George Kraus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ezra J. and Mary Pearlee Bagwell; his father in law, Elmo Wilson Parker and mother in law, Thelma Pauline Sharp Parker; both sets of his grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. James is survived by his wife of the home, Virgie Lorene Bagwell; his son, Ret. LTC James Donald Bagwell and his wife Mary Alice of Buffalo, NY; his daughter Sandra Kaye Scott of Lawton, OK; his brother Charles and wife Geneva Bagwell of Amarillo, TX; granddaughters, Erin Bagwell-Mastracola and her husband Sal of Brooklyn, NY, Nicole Hutchinson and husband Jamie of Vilseck, Germany, and Sara Scott of Lawton, OK; his grandson, Tyler Bagwell of Buffalo, NY; 6 great grandchildren, Braylen, Kenley, Bentlee, Kash and Emmy Jo, all of Vilseck, Germany and a brand new great granddaughter born on the day of his passing, Virginia Rose of Brooklyn, NY; his faithful dog, Sugar; and 2 nephews, Steve and Belinda Bagwell and David and Lori Bagwell of Texas.

     Virgie Lorene Parker was born on 10 June 1937. As of 29 June 1954,her married name was Bagwell. She married Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell, son of Ezra Joseph Bagwell and Mary Pearlee Callaway, on 29 June 1954 at Amarillo, Texas. Virgie Lorene Parker died on 17 May 2022 in Lawton, Commanche County, Oklahoma, at age 84. She was buried at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Commanche County, Oklahoma.

     LTC James Donald Bagwell is the son of Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell and Virgie Lorene Parker. LTC James Donald Bagwell married Mary Alice (?) after 1974.

     Sandra Kaye Bagwell is the daughter of Command Sergeant Major James Elmer Bagwell and Virgie Lorene Parker. Sandra Kaye Bagwell married (?) Scott after 1974.
