Mr. Bagwell enjoyed a 30 year career as a construction supervisor and carpenter for DeJager Construction Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a devoted member of the Mooresville Church of God, where he enjoyed being active in mission work. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with his loving family.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Thora Goodrich.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Phyllis (King) Bagwell; children, Arthur Wood, Arlana Wood, Max Wood, Krystal Simmons, and Stephen Bagwell; daughters, Cindy, Lydia, and Rachel Bagwell; sisters, Cletha A. Elliott and Jane Kennell; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Camby.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Donald Eugene Bagwell married Betty Jane Sacks on 18 May 1956. Donald Eugene Bagwell died on 16 June 2013 at age 81.1 He was buried at Sunset Memory Garden, Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana; Donald Eugene "Gene" Bagwell 81, of Kokomo passed away at 3:03am Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Community Howard Regional Hospital. Donald was born September 13, 1931, he was the last of nine siblings of the late Parker Scott and Hazel Dell Bagwell. Gene graduated from Kokomo High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married the former Betty Jane Sacks on May 18, 1956. Gene was employed with Indiana Bell Telephone in 1953 as a draftsman, and retired in 1987 as senior project engineer. Betty and Gene also operated Bagwell's Upholstery until 2007. His main hobby was carpentry and remolding his home. He enjoyed all sports, especially playing golf and was a big Indiana and Colts fan. He and Betty attended 53 consecutive Indy 500's. They also loved to travel and RV throughout the Rocky Mountains and other National Parks.
Gene is survived by his wife Betty, son Kenneth Eugene Bagwell of Indianapolis, daughter Jackie Lou Myers and son-in-law Mike Myers, daughter Karen Sue Bagwell of Kokomo and twin grandchildren Cassie and Jessie Myers along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Dorthy McLaine, Wanda Gifford, brothers, Lester Bagwell, of New Jersey, John Bagwell, Kenneth Bagwell, Robert Bagwell, Max Bagwell, and Marvin Bagwell.
Visitation will be from 10am – 12pm Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street. Services will be at 12pm Thursday also at the Mortuary with Pastor Dennis Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. There will be full military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force and the Kokomo Military Rites teams.1

She was the last of four siblings for the late Fred and Mary Sacks (Blockson). Betty graduated from Kokomo High School in 1949. She married Donald Eugene "Gene" Bagwell on May 18, 1956. Betty and Gene co-owned Bagwell's Custom Upholstery. She enjoyed watching sports (especially the Colts), listening to music and spending time with her family. Betty and Gene attended 53 consecutive Indy 500's. They loved to travel in their RV throughout the Rocky Mountains and other national parks.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.1
