Born August 31, 1925, in Laurens, SC, he was the son of the late Manning Lee Bagwell and Charlotte Inez (Jameson) Bagwell and the husband of the late Joyce (Wardell) Bagwell.

He retired from Drayton Mill and was a member of Drayton Baptist Church. He played on the Textile and American Legion Baseball teams and was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Bagwell, Ronnie Bagwell of Lyman, and Vance Bagwell of Duncan; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Jacque Givins.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Lewis Cannon.

The family received friends following the service at the graveside.

Ronald “Ronnie Lee Bagwell, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 24, 2022 at his home. Born February 9, 1949 in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late Samuel Jack and Joyce Wardell Bagwell.

Ronnie worked at Earnhart Electric Service for 39 years and attended Roebuck United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of baseball and the Gamecocks. He loved to watch “Gunsmoke” and enjoyed being outdoors where he could walk for miles.

Survivors include his children, Mickey Bagwell of Chesnee, April Bagwell, Jacob Bagwell of Reidville, and Josh Bell (Ruth) of Forest City, NC; Grandchildren, Jacqueline Bagwell Aubrie Bagwell, both of Reidville, Brooke Cantrell and Kip Bagwell, both of Chesnee; Great-grandchildren, Cali Cantrell and Emorie Cantrell, both of Chesnee; and brother, Vance Bagwell. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Givens.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Jones Brewer, Pastor Edward Enlow, Sheriff Chuck Wright and Jacque Bagwell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.


He was buried on 28 August 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Nena Reynolds. Burial is 2:30 Wednesday in the Garden of Memories near Belton.

She was born in Harrisburg, IL and lived in Port St. Lucie for 22 years, coming from Marietta, OH.

Before retirement, she was a teacher for the Marietta City School System for 28 years. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Port St. Lucie. She served as president of the Isle of Lombardy board of directors and Kings Isle board of directors and was on the St. Lucie West Presidents Council. In Marietta, she served on the board of directors for the Betsy Mills Club. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in art education from The Ohio State University. During her college years, she was an umpire for Intramural Field Hockey, certified by U.S. Field Hockey Association.
