After graduating from Coventry High School, Floyd worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber. Then with the prospect of being drafted, he joined the Navy, figuring he was less likely to get shot at. Floyd retired from the Machine Design Department of Goodyear with 24 years of service.
With dignity and his wry sense of humor, Don fought a 15-year battle with Dementia. He never let dementia stop him as he and Nancy continued to travel and enjoy life. He would even spend time with his buddies at the Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club where was a long-time member. Don has finally earned his peace and can now remember all his quirky sayings and one-liners like, “6 and 7/8’s” or “Fine as frog hair”.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and David. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy (nee Clark); son, Harry; daughter, Donna; grandsons, David and Andrew; brothers-in-law, Larry, Jeff, and George Clark; sister-in-law, Janet Bagwell; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews, whom all thought Uncle Don was a cool dude.
