     Martin David Bagwell was born circa 1862 in Mississippi. He was the son of Peter Crawford Bagwell and Malissa Johnston. Martin David Bagwell married Mary Susan Taylor on 12 March 1893 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Martin David Bagwell lived in 1910 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He died in 1934 in Clayton, St. Louis County, Missouri.

     Henry Harvey Bagwell was born on 30 January 1865 in Mississippi.¹ He was the son of Peter Crawford Bagwell and Malissa Johnston. Henry Harvey Bagwell married Willie Howie on 15 November 1888. Henry Harvey Bagwell married Emily Payne in 1911. Henry Harvey Bagwell died on 10 April 1934 at age 69.¹ He was buried at Cooper Cemetery, DeRidder, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana.¹

     M. C. Bagwell was born circa 1868 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of Peter Crawford Bagwell and Malissa Johnston.

     O. F. Bagwell was born circa 1871 in Mississippi. He was the son of Peter Crawford Bagwell and Malissa Johnston.

     John P. Bagwell was born in March 1874 in Winston County, Mississippi. He was the son of Peter Crawford Bagwell and Malissa Johnston. John P. Bagwell married Arrie Lydia Patterson before 1901. John P. Bagwell died in 1910 in Union Parish, Louisiana.

     Ella Eva Bagwell was born on 22 February 1862 in Cambria Center, Niagara County, New York. She was the daughter of John Bull Bagwell Jr. and Lydia Mills. As of 28 December 1882,her married name was Barber. Ella Eva Bagwell married Alva Matthew "Mattie" Barber on 28 December 1882 at New York. Ella Eva Bagwell married an unknown person before 1886. As of before 1886,her married name was Barber. She died on 6 August 1947 in Lewiston, Niagara County, New York, at age 85. She was buried at North Ridge Cemetery, North Ridge, Niagara County, New York.

     Etta Bagwell was born circa 1864 in New York. She was the daughter of John Bull Bagwell Jr. and Lydia Mills.

     Evelyn Gertrute Bagwell was born on 14 October 1924 in Sheridan, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Charles Alvin Bagwell and Dulcie G. Hurst. As of after 1946,her married name was Monroe. Evelyn Gertrute Bagwell married James Edwin Monroe after 1946. Evelyn Gertrute Bagwell and James Edwin Monroe lived in 1984 in Nashville, Tennessee. Evelyn Gertrute Bagwell died on 2 July 2001 in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana, at age 76. She was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

     Pauline Bagwell is the daughter of Charles Alvin Bagwell and Dulcie G. Hurst. Pauline Bagwell married William Dyer after 1946.

     LaVerne Bagwell was born on 14 September 1928 in Crittenden County, Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Alvin Bagwell and Dulcie G. Hurst. As of 1954,her married name was Weldon. LaVerne Bagwell married John Weldon in 1954. LaVerne Bagwell lived in 1984 in Evansville, Indiana. She died on 17 March 2022 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at age 93


LaVene Weldon, age 93, passed away on March 17th, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. LaVene was born on September 14th, 1928, to Charles Alvin and Dulcie (Hurst) Bagwell in Crittenden County, Kentucky.

She graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Kentucky in 1946. Following graduation, she was proud of her work as a civil servant at Camp Breckinridge in Morganfield, KY. In 1954, after a 5-year courtship, she married the love of her life, John Weldon, in a double wedding with her twin sister Pauline, and fiancé. Over the next 11 years, LaVene and John had three daughters. In 1969, she decided to go back to work "part time" and spent 16 years with Baynham's Shoe Company, followed by 20 years with Interprop Management Company until her retirement, in 2005, at the age of 76.

LaVene is survived by her loving daughters Paula Williams (John); Lynda McCollum (Chuck); and Jane Weldon (Yvonne); grandchildren, Brandon Gregory (Aleah), Zachary McCollum, Andrea Johnson (Derek), and Chelsea Vannoni (Kyle); great grandchildren, Josephine Kate Johnson, Giovanni Byron and Annabella Grace Vannoni, and Blake John Gregory. Later in life, as fate and love would have it, her grandchildren included Jared Williams (Patty) Carolyn, Harry and Ellie; Katie Niles (Casey) River and Ridley; Jessica Dedmond, Veyda and Vanna; Jake, Lizy, Zach, Sam, Katie and Grace Offill; nieces and nephews Dana Samson, Dwight Monroe, Greg Dyer (Ellen), Tammy Riley (Mike), and their families.

She is preceded in death, by her parents and husband, her sisters, Evelyn Monroe (James) and Pauline Dyer, and nieces, Diane Weldon Todd, and Teresa Dyer.

A celebration of LaVene's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1800 St. George Rd., Evansville, Indiana, with burial to follow. Visitation will be held on Friday, March, 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Tour de Komen at tourdekomen.org.¹

     Lina Groves was born in 1871 in Illinois. As of 7 August 1912,her married name was Bagwell. She married Walter Lesley Bagwell, son of James Richard Bagwell and Theodosia Eliza Bettis, on 7 August 1912 at Benton, Scott County, Missouri. Lina Groves died in 1954. She was buried at Whites Chapel Cemetery, Crittenden County, Kentucky.

     Richard Herbold Bagwell was born on 16 August 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Howard Roberts Bagwell and Ruth Hedwig Matilda Herbold. Richard Herbold Bagwell married Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde on 29 August 1958 at Cook County, Illinois. Richard Herbold Bagwell and Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde were divorced in November 1976 at Alameda, California. Richard Herbold Bagwell died on 6 September 2020 at age 84


Richard Herbold Bagwell died at home with loved ones by his side following a heart attack a few days earlier. He was born in Chicago to the late Howard Roberts Bagwell of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Ruth Herbold Bagwell of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Roberts "Bob" Bagwell, Jr. of Portland and his former first wife, Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde.

Dick was a musician, theatre artist, writer, and educator with a BA in Theatre from Northwestern and an MA in Theatre from Penn State. He taught speech and drama at the Central YMCA College in Chicago and at Holy Names University in Oakland.

He worked as a performer, director, administrator, and technician at professional theatres including San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Actors Equity Theatre of New York, Woodminster Amphitheater in Oakland, and Alabama Shakespeare Festival and he performed at fairs and festivals across the US as Merry Will Kemp and the Pied Piper. He enjoyed Scottish and English country dance and danced with Morris teams, most recently Deer Creek, until a stroke in September 2014 left him hemiplegic.

Notable accomplishments include marching with Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama in 1965; developing educational programs for the Living History Centre in 1973-1979 that continued long after his association with the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire; writing the influential "Poor Richard's Guide to the Queen's Tongue: The Faire Person's Elizabethan Bag and Basic Faire Accent Pronunciation Guide"; creating the ever-popular "Saucy French Postcard Tableaux Review" for the Great Dickens Christmas Fair in 1974; performing his one-man show "Shakespeare's Clown" at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1982; the 1988 publication of his "Pipe & Tabor Tutor," still the definitive instruction manual; starring as Thomas Sly in the Elizabethan Christmas Revels in Oakland in 2003 and Portland in 2004; and the 2014 presentation of his chamber opera, "To Hell with Heroes," which features Osama bin Laden welcoming George W. Bush to hell, by San Francisco's Goat Hall Productions.

He was a member of the Berkeley City Club and for several years he gave tours and organized the docent program for the Berkeley City Club Conservancy, which preserves Julia Morgan's landmark building.

Dick is survived by his daughters Gillian Jeanne Bagwell, Rachel Hope Crossman, and Jennifer Walker; sons-in-law Rob Crossman and Bob Walker; former second wife and dear friend Anne Miller-Bagwell; sister-in-law Anne Fraser Bagwell; niece Elizabeth Arwen Bagwell; grandchildren Francis Crossman and wife Onika Crossman, Ruth Crossman, Chloe Crossman, Robin Crossman, and Paris Walker; cousins David Bagwell, Colin Bagwell, Beverly White, Linda Grieve, Lori Harvey, Karla Herbold, and Marit Bagwell Fredericks; many friends; and his beloved cat, Tiffany.

She married Richard Herbold Bagwell, son of Howard Roberts Bagwell and Ruth Hedwig Matilda Herbold, on 29 August 1958 at Cook County, Illinois. Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde and Richard Herbold Bagwell were divorced in November 1976 at Alameda, California. Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde died on 14 May 2006 in London, England, at age 68.

     Gillian Jeanne Bagwell is the daughter of Richard Herbold Bagwell and Elizabeth Rosaria Loverde. Gillian Jeanne Bagwell married James DIllon on 25 May 1985 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.

     Graham Wells Lightner was born on 17 April 1910 in Green County, Pennsylvania. He married Eleanor Bagwell, daughter of Charles Marvin Bagwell and Gertude Edna Millard, before 1939. Graham Wells Lightner died on 25 January 1961 in Stanislaus, California, at age 50. He was buried at Chapel of the Chimes Columbarium and Mausoleum, Oakland, Alameda County, California.

     Jack Hancock Haney was born on 19 August 1909 in Arkansas. He married Gertrude Heron Bagwell, daughter of Charles Marvin Bagwell and Gertude Edna Millard, on 13 March 1943 at Dayton, Ohio. Jack Hancock Haney died on 4 March 1987 in Stokes County, North Carolina, at age 77. He was buried at Saint Timothys Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.

     Clyde Franklin Barham was born on 21 August 1906 in Guilford County, North Carolina. He married Alice Lucille Bagwell, daughter of Junius Harrison Bagwell and Mary Ellen Snider, before 1929. Clyde Franklin Barham was buried at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. He died on 21 October 1957 in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina, at age 51.

     Fannie Louise Tucker was also known as Lou Tucker. She was born on 14 July 1906 in Winder, Georgia. As of 31 January 1927,her married name was Bagwell. She married Junius Ector Bagwell, son of Junius Harrison Bagwell and Mary Ellen Snider, on 31 January 1927 at Iredell County, North Carolina. Fannie Louise Tucker died on 20 August 1988 at age 82. She was buried at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bethlehem, Barrow County, Georgia.

     Dorthy Mae Bagwell was born on 13 August 1930.¹ She was the daughter of Howard Penmore Bagwell and Emma Mae Tucker. Dorthy Mae Bagwell died on 10 October 1930.¹ She was buried at New Zion Cemetery, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.¹

     John Wilson Cagle was born on 30 May 1901 in Calhoun County, Georgia. He married Elsie Grace Bagwell, daughter of John Henry Bagwell and Frances Louella "Ella" Burgess, before 1921. John Wilson Cagle died on 25 February 1959 in Gordon County, Georgia, at age 57. He was buried at New Zion Cemetery, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.

     Willie Mae Adcox was born on 29 August 1906 in Gordon County, Georgia.¹ As of 1 August 1924,her married name was Bagwell. She married John Durell Bagwell, son of John Henry Bagwell and Frances Louella "Ella" Burgess, on 1 August 1924 at Gordon County, Georgia. Willie Mae Adcox died on 29 February 2004 in Gordon County, Georgia, at age 97.¹ She was buried at Gordon Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.¹

     Fannie West was also known as Mable Fannie West. She was born on 7 February 1893.¹ She married Chester Paul Bagwell, son of John F. Bagwell and Mary Lou Bradford, after 1910. Fannie West died on 18 October 1945 in Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia, at age 52.¹ She was buried at Chandler Cemetery, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.¹

     Bonnie Fay Bagwell was born on 14 February 1910 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Chester Paul Bagwell and Fannie West. As of 26 January 1948,her married name was Crew. Bonnie Fay Bagwell married John F. Crew on 26 January 1948 at Broward County, Florida. Bonnie Fay Bagwell died on 10 August 1993 at age 83.¹ She was buried at Palatka Memorial Gardens, Palatka, Putnam County, Florida.¹

     Reynett Bagwell is the daughter of Chester Paul Bagwell and Fannie West. Reynett Bagwell married (?) Taylor after 1933.

     Elizabeth Brewster Manning was born on 5 May 1902 in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.¹ As of 8 January 1930,her married name was Bagwell. She married William Reece Bagwell, son of Larkin Obediah Bagwell and Victoria Quarles Dunaway, on 8 January 1930. Elizabeth Brewster Manning died on 2 March 1993 at age 90.¹ She was buried at Fain Cemetery, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.¹

     William Reece Bagwell Jr. was born on 18 April 1930 in Beaumont, California.¹ He was the son of William Reece Bagwell and Elizabeth Brewster Manning. In the US Army as a SP4. William Reece Bagwell Jr. married Hazel Weaver circa 1963. William Reece Bagwell Jr. died on 24 June 2007 at age 77.¹ He was buried at Fain Cemetery, Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.¹

     Verdelle Barton was born on 15 May 1898 in Georgia.¹ As of 23 August 1923,her married name was Bagwell. She married John Willis Bagwell, son of Larkin Obediah Bagwell and Victoria Quarles Dunaway, on 23 August 1923. Verdelle Barton died on 4 April 1997 at age 98.¹ She was buried at Oakland Cemetery, Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.¹
